The purpose is to present library OPAC as a communication genre in its mutability. The paper is based on the idea of OPAC development as a transition to subsequent OPAC generations. Every generation, in the light of genre theory, can be treated as a subgenre with its own communication purpose. As such, it is subject to transformations caused by information technology development. OPAC development is described as an electronic genre transition process, which allows for distinguishing eight OPAC subgenre generations. They were distinguished based on socio-historical development of the genre system and were described according to Shepherd and Watters1genre development model. These subgenres are then subjected to genres analysis revealing their basic characteristics (purpose, form and functionality)

The purpose of this paper is to examine critically the history of Records Management Journal on its 20th anniversary; it aims to review and analyse its evolution and its contribution in the context of the development of the profession and the discipline of records management. The paper seeks to provide the context and justification for the selection of eight articles previously published in the journal to be reprinted in this issue

The importance of single source publishing in scientific publishing

Source du document : https://gitlab.huma-num.fr/ecrinum/communications/csdh-2022-single-source-publishingAcademic publishing currently raises several issues, such as the production of multiple artifacts from a single source. The expression "single source publishing" refers to generating several formats from a single source. A single document can be used to produce various formats, without having to switch from one process to another, whether it is a PDF format for printing, an XML export for a digital platform, or a digital version in HTML format. This editorial challenge brings up both theoretical and technical questions, such as the legitimization of content, the evolution of publishing practices, and the creation of adequate tools. At the intersection of media studies, publishing studies, and literature, the concepts of hybridity (McLuhan, 1968), hybridization (Ludovico, 2012), or editorialization (Vitali-Rosati, 2016) allow us to question the principles of this editorial design.

Making data in PhD dissertations reusable for research

International audienceHow can an academic library contribute to make data submitted together with PhD dissertations useful for further research? Our paper provides some recommendations for information professionals, based on a review of studies and projects and on empirical evidence from a content analysis of data sources and types from 300 print and digital dissertations in social sciences and humanities (1987-2013) and a survey on data management conducted with the scientists and PhD students of the University of Lille 3 in April and May 2015. The Implication for Organisation and Governance Through User-Drivern Standardisation of Semantic Interoperable Electronic Patient Record Systems

The increased demand for more effective sharing of healthcare information to support complex patient pathways crossing organisational boundaries calls for semantic interoperable process-oriented Electronic Patient Record (EPR) systems. It follows the need for common standards to ensure that information is understood and interpreted consistently across various contexts. A considerable body of literature has demonstrated that standardisation within healthcare has proven difficult to achieve. Moreover, standardisation processes have traditionally had a top-down approach, for which little attention has been paid to users’ work practices. The many failures of standardisation efforts have put focus into alternative standardisation strategies, in which one promising method is promoted through the emerging openEHR approach for standardising the content of the EPRs. A network of voluntary clinical users should have a prominent role in standardisation processes and running the process in a distributed and negotiated manner over the Internet. In this paper, we seek to give empirical insight regarding the evolving process of developing and implementing a sematic interoperable EPR system based on the openEHR framework, and the implication for organisation and governance addressed by the evolving process. We analyse the case through an information infrastructure perspective, and claim that user-driven standardisation of semantic interoperable EPR systems has to be supported by a multi-level organisational infrastructure, in addition to governance organisations that make decisions and monitor results and performances at different healthcare levels. The organisational and governance infrastructure has to be established simultaneously, but preferably, in advance of new development projects. Empirically, we have followed the interplay between the developing process of an EPR system based on the openEHR approach and a government-led establishment of an archetype repository
