Low loss dichroic plate
A low loss dichroic plate is disclosed for passing radiation within a particular frequency band and reflecting radiation outside of that frequency band. The dichroic plate is comprised of a configuration of dipole elements defined by slots formed in a conductive plate. The slots are dimensioned so as to pass radiation of a selected frequency and are shaped so as to minimize the relationship between that frequency and the tilt angle of the plate relative to the direction of radiation. The slots are arranged so as to minimize signal power loss due to cross polarization effects

Drawings of Planar Graphs with Few Slopes and Segments
We study straight-line drawings of planar graphs with few segments and few
slopes. Optimal results are obtained for all trees. Tight bounds are obtained
for outerplanar graphs, 2-trees, and planar 3-trees. We prove that every
3-connected plane graph on vertices has a plane drawing with at most
segments and at most slopes. We prove that every cubic
3-connected plane graph has a plane drawing with three slopes (and three bends
on the outerface). In a companion paper, drawings of non-planar graphs with few

Drawing Planar Graphs with a Prescribed Inner Face
Given a plane graph (i.e., a planar graph with a fixed planar embedding)
and a simple cycle in whose vertices are mapped to a convex polygon, we
consider the question whether this drawing can be extended to a planar
straight-line drawing of . We characterize when this is possible in terms of
simple necessary conditions, which we prove to be sufficient. This also leads
to a linear-time testing algorithm. If a drawing extension exists, it can be
computed in the same running time
WFIRST Coronagraph Technology Requirements: Status Update and Systems Engineering Approach
The coronagraphic instrument (CGI) on the Wide-Field Infrared Survey
Telescope (WFIRST) will demonstrate technologies and methods for high-contrast
direct imaging and spectroscopy of exoplanet systems in reflected light,
including polarimetry of circumstellar disks. The WFIRST management and CGI
engineering and science investigation teams have developed requirements for the
instrument, motivated by the objectives and technology development needs of
potential future flagship exoplanet characterization missions such as the NASA
Habitable Exoplanet Imaging Mission (HabEx) and the Large UV/Optical/IR
Surveyor (LUVOIR). The requirements have been refined to support
recommendations from the WFIRST Independent External Technical/Management/Cost
Review (WIETR) that the WFIRST CGI be classified as a technology demonstration
instrument instead of a science instrument. This paper provides a description
of how the CGI requirements flow from the top of the overall WFIRST mission
structure through the Level 2 requirements, where the focus here is on
capturing the detailed context and rationales for the CGI Level 2 requirements.
The WFIRST requirements flow starts with the top Program Level Requirements
Appendix (PLRA), which contains both high-level mission objectives as well as
the CGI-specific baseline technical and data requirements (BTR and BDR,
respectively)... We also present the process and collaborative tools used in
the L2 requirements development and management, including the collection and
organization of science inputs, an open-source approach to managing the
requirements database, and automating documentation. The tools created for the
CGI L2 requirements have the potential to improve the design and planning of
other projects, streamlining requirement management and maintenance. [Abstract

Tool for use in lifting pin supported objects
A tool for use in lifting a pin-supported, electronic package mounted in juxtaposition with the surface of an electronic circuit board is described. The tool is configured to be received beneath a pin-supported package and is characterized by a manually operable linkage, including an elongated, rigid link is supported for axial reciprocation and a pivotal link pinned to the body and supported for oscillation induced in response to axial motion imparted to the rigid link. A lifting plate is pivotally coupled to the distal end of the pivotal link so that oscillatory motion imparted to the pivotal link serves to move the plate vertically for elevating the plate into lifting engagement with the electronic package positioned thereabove
Composite antenna feed
A composite antenna feed subsystem concentrated in a small area at the prime focus of the parabola of a satellite parabolic reflector accomodates a plurality of frequency bands. The arrays comprising the subsystem are mounted on the top cover of a communication module. A multimode horn is arranged at the center of the subsystem axis which functions at X- And C-band frequencies, and a cross array consisting of individual elements form the S-band feed, with one arm of the S-band array containing an element mutually shared with the L-band array. Provision is also made for UHF frequencies, and a dipole arrangement for VHF frequencies is arranged around the S-band arms
