    Sensitivity Study of a Class of Fuzzy Control Systems

    The paper performs the sensitivity study with respect to the parametric variations of the controlled plant in case of a class of fuzzy control systems dedicated to servo systems. The presentation is particularized to fuzzy control systems to solve the tracking control problem in case of wheeled mobile robots of tricycle type with two degrees of freedom. There is proposed a new development method for Takagi-Sugeno PI-fuzzy controllers based on the application of the Extended Symmetrical Optimum method to the basic linear PI controllers in a cascaded control system structure. There are derived sensitivity models, validated by considering a case study concerning the speed control of a servo system with DC motor as actuator in mobile robot control. Experimental results validate the development method for Takagi-Sugeno PI-fuzzy controllers

    Robust fault estimation for stochastic Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems

    Nowadays, industrial plants are calling for high-performance fault diagnosis techniques to meet stringent requirements on system availability and safety in the event of component failures. This paper deals with robust fault estimation problems for stochastic nonlinear systems subject to faults and unknown inputs relying on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models. Augmented approach jointly with unknown input observers for stochastic Takagi-Sugeno models is exploited here, which allows one to estimate both considered faults and full system states robustly. The considered unknown inputs can be either completely decoupled or partially decoupled by observers. For the un-decoupled part of unknown inputs, which still influence error dynamics, stochastic input-to-state stability properties are applied to take nonzero inputs into account and sufficient conditions are achieved to guarantee bounded estimation errors under bounded unknown inputs. Linear matrix inequalities are employed to compute gain matrices of the observer, leading to stochastic input-to-state-stable error dynamics and optimization of the estimation performances against un-decoupled unknown inputs. Finally, simulation on wind turbine benchmark model is applied to validate the performances of the suggested fault reconstruction methodologies

    Voltage profile enhancement in distribution network using static synchronous compensator STATCOM

    STATCOM is one of FACTS devices that used as regulator for transmission and distribution systems which works for reactive power compensation. STATCOM utilisation in distribution system mostly for enhancing the profile of voltage, where used for adjusting the disturbance voltage by injecting into the system a controllable voltage. This paper present a Fuzzy controller based on STATCOM to enhance the voltage profile in distribution network. The controller of STATCOM has simulated for different types of abnormal load conditions of balance and unbalance load. The results of simulation show ability of proposed design to enhance the load voltage which was 96% of the nominal value

    Experimental application of Takagi-Sugeno observers and controllers in a nonlinear electromechanical system

    [EN] In this paper, a systematic methodology to design fuzzy Takagi-Sugeno observers and controllers will be used to estimate the angular positions and speeds, as well as to stabilise an experimental mechanical system with 3 degrees of freedom (fixed quadrotor). Takagi-Sugeno observers and controllers are compared to observers and controllers based on the linearized model, both designed with the same optimization criteria and design parameters. Experimental results confirm that Takagi-Sugeno models and observers behave similarly to linear ones around the linearization point, but have a better performance over a larger operating range, as intuitively expected.The work of Zs.     A Reduced-Order TS Fuzzy Observer Scheme with Application to Actuator Faults Reconstruction

    This paper focuses on the principle for designing reduced-order fuzzy-observer-based actuator fault reconstruction for a class of nonlinear systems. The problem addressed can be indicated as an approach for a kind of reduced-order fuzzy observer design with special gain matrix structure that depends on a given matching condition specification. Using the Lyapunov theory, the stability conditions are obtained and expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities, and the conditions for asymptotic estimation of actuator faults are derived. Simulation results illustrate the observer design procedure and demonstrate the actuator fault reconstruction effectiveness and performance

    Voltage profile Improvement Using Static Synchronous Compensator STATCOM

    Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is a regulating device used in AC transmission systems as a source or a sink of reactive power. The most widely utilization of the STATCOM is in enhancing the voltage stability of the transmission line. A voltage regulator is a FACTs device used to adjust the voltage disturbance by injecting a controllable voltage into the system. This paper implement Nruro-Fuzzy controller to control the STATCOM to improve the voltage profile of the power network. The controller has been simulated for some kinds of disturbances and the results show improvements in voltage profile of the system. The performance of STATCOM with its controller was very close within 98% of the nominal value of the busbar voltage

    Short-term electricity prices forecasting in a competitive market by a hybrid PSO-ANFIS approach

    In this paper, a novel hybrid approach is proposed for electricity prices forecasting in a competitive market, considering a time horizon of one week. The proposed approach is based on the combination of particle swarm optimization and adaptive-network based fuzzy inference system. Results from a case study based on the electricity market of mainland Spain are presented. A thorough comparison is carried out, taking into account the results of previous publications, to demonstrate its effectiveness regarding forecasting accuracy and computation time. Finally, conclusions are duly drawn. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved

    Performance investigation of stand-alone induction generator based on STATCOM for wind power application

    Self-Excited induction generators (SEIG) display a low voltage and frequency regulation due to variable applied load and input rotation speed. Current work presents a simulation and performance analysis of a three-phase wind-driven, SEIG connect to a three-phase load. In addition, an investigation of the dynamic operation of the induction generator from starting steady state until no-load operation. It is assumed that the input mechanical power is constant where the rotor of the SEIG rotates at a constant speed. The value of the excitation capacitance which is necessary to the operation of the induction generator also computed to ensure a smooth and self-excitation starting. The output voltage of the generator is adjusted by varying the reactive power injected by STATCOM. A 3-phase IGBT voltage source inverter with a fuel cell input supply is connected as STATCOM which is used to compensate for the reduction in the supply voltage and its frequency due to variation occurred in the applied loads. This work includes introducing a neuro-fuzzyy logic controller to enhance the performance of the SEIG by regulation the generated voltage and frequency The dynamic model of SEIG with STATCOM and loads are implemented using MATLAB/SIMULIN
