Shoes are demands required by everyone. As a time changing and increasing demand for shoes, so many competitor shoe factories produce the best shoes for the customer. PT Ara Shoes is a famous shoe factory that has been well known for six decades. To be able to make fairness quality competition shoe factory would have to ability to produce a high quality product. To improve quality and production process is the way to determine whether quality of production is already achieve the minimum standard quality needed by applying the minimum standard quality control system. Control charts based on chi-square distance is a diagram of the control that can be used for multivariate data attributes. Production processes at PT ARA Shoes is divided into 3 stages of the shoe production process, including the process of cutting, process of sewing and assembling process. The cases study examined in this observation is the production process of cutting from January 2012 - October 2013 total applying 22 observations. Based on the research that has been done it is concluded that the production process is not enough controlled in cutting and improvement needed to be done twice, by eliminating observations 4th and 5th. Male students of the Department of Integrated Rural Art and Industry, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi have preference for three kinds of footwear: loafers, boots, and dressing shoes. They rate loafers as highly preferred for three main reasons: trendiness, adaptability, and economy. This research aimed to design and produce fashionable loafers for male students. The descriptive research method was used to give details about the tools and materials used for the footwear, and the processes for making the loafers. The participatory product design method was used, where the would-be users of the footwear were involved in the design process – they were consulted for their views and comments right from the early design stages till actualisation of the product. The target population was 150 male students of the said Department; 100 were accessible. The simple random sampling method was used; data was collected through interviews and observation. The study recognised that the popularity, acceptability or attractiveness of the first pair of loafers can be seen in 3 ways: African wear or the look alike, the use of beads, and youthfulness of colour. Adaptability and economy of footwear do show up in the varied application of colour and material, for multipurpose use of the footwear. The integration of locally obtainable materials (beads, fabric and leather) and necessary design factors were determined after which manufacturing operations such as pattern cutting, closing, lasting, attaching, arrangement of beads, and finishing were gone through to realize the shoes. Two pairs of loafers were produced; one has bright and lively colours, the other, relatively darker but appealing colours. Keywords: Male students, fashionable, loafers, adaptability, econom

Decision Supporter for Determining Priority in Supply of Shoe Raw Materials Using the Simple Additive Weighting Method

More and more types of raw materials will be used to expedite the shoe production process, making it difficult for companies to determine the priority of raw materials. So that there are often advantages and disadvantages of raw materials during the production process, which causes changes in the budget of production costs that are not in accordance with the initial plan, resulting in decreased corporate profits. Decision Support System (SPK) is a system that can help someone in making decisions that are accurate and right on target. Many problems can be solved by using SPK, one of which is determining priorities in the supply of raw materials. There are several methods that can be used in building a DSS, including simple addtive weighting (SAW). The Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method is often also known as the weighted sum method, by finding the weighted sum of performance ratings for each alternative of all attributes. This study discusses the making of a decision support system as a tool for determining priorities in the supply of raw materials using the simple additive weighting (SAW) method. This application was developed with the Power Builder 8.0 programming language and Sybase SQL Anyware 5.0 as its database. The results of this study are able to help system users determine the priority of the supply of raw materials in order to facilitate the production process

Shoe industry development in the era of globalization is currently overgrowing. Therefore, every company should be able to compete strictly with other companies that produce the same products. Quality maintenance is having to be done by the company to survive in business competition. PT. ABC is a manufacturer of sports shoes. The company has a problem with bonding shoes not achieved company standard in the year 2017. This paper is focused on the improvement of bonding shoe quality by using a method of Quality Control Circle which applying quality control tools are like check sheet, Pareto diagram, fishbone diagram, and 5W + 1 H. Based on the research results obtained percentage improvements of quality bonding test of 21.15%. Cement stripping on the midsole is the most significant number of the bonding test failure in Laboratory that is as much as 26.33% or 218 prs from the total collapse of the overall bonding shoes. Based on the background, the purpose of this research is to find out the root causes of the failure of bonding test shoes. The limitations of this research are only improving processes in the department, which makes the bonding shoe quality does not achieve the company standard. After doing the analysis using the quality control tools and making the improvement process in the whole areas that the percentage of the bonding test cement stripping on midsole could be increased to 5.18%. Analysis of the results obtained by applying the method of Quality Control Circle is the improvement of the quality of the bonding shoe. So, the trust customers against the company may be obtained that would eventually increase the number of orders to the company
