    High quality education can only be delivered by high quality institutions that are well established to meet with today’s quality challenges. Thus, the present study strongly advocates for accreditation of Teacher Education in developing countries. The study aims to introduce a guide for accrediting Teacher Education that is hoped to serve as a common reference authority for Teacher Education institutions in developing countries.This aim also embraces the following objectives: to explore the main concepts, objectives, methods and procedures of accrediting Teacher Education, to explain the rationales of accrediting Teacher Education, to illustrate international evaluation measures of accrediting Teacher Education, to explore some models of various focuses of Teacher Education accreditation and to present standards of Teacher Education accreditation proposed to be applicable in developing countries.The study used the descriptive analytical method that describes the phenomena and participates in its analysis. To achieve the optimum advantage of the proposed guide, each institute of Teacher Education should utilize it according to its own mission, vision, and objectives.This guide is perceived to be a pertinent platform for Teacher Education institutions in developing countries to exchange innovative ideas, issues of common concern and to foster accreditation network among them. Although developing countries have various histories, cultural backgrounds, colonial experiences and political orientations but these notwithstanding they have common basic philosophy, goals, objectives and challenges regarding quality education and its recognition. The guide has been made transparent in order to increase its flexibility, validity and portability

    This chapter focuses on the history, development, and perceived value of The Open University UK’s BA/BSc (Hons) Open degree (hereafter referred to as “OUUK Open degree”) over the past half-century in the context of changing external pressures and addressing debates around the coherence and acceptance of such a personalized program of study. It touches on the changing views of “openness” over time, from the origins of The Open University’s “open entry” policy, through to ideas around flexibility of study, open education, and personalized learning. The chapter concludes with recommendations for other higher education institutions wishing to introduce a multidisciplinary open degree into their portfolio of curriculum

    Quality assurance in transnational higher education : a case study of the tropEd network

    Transnational or cross-border higher education has rapidly expanded since the 1980s. Together with that expansion issues on quality assurance came to the forefront. This article aims to identify key issues regarding quality assurance of transnational higher education and discusses the quality assurance of the tropEd Network for International Health in Higher Education in relation to these key issues.; Literature review and review of documents.; From the literature the following key issues regarding transnational quality assurance were identified and explored: comparability of quality assurance frameworks, true collaboration versus erosion of national education sovereignty, accreditation agencies and transparency. The tropEd network developed a transnational quality assurance framework for the network. The network accredits modules through a rigorous process which has been accepted by major stakeholders. This process was a participatory learning process and at the same time the process worked positive for the relations between the institutions.; The development of the quality assurance framework and the process provides a potential example for others

    The reflective learning continuum: reflecting on reflection

    The importance of reflection to marketing educators is increasingly recognized. However, there is a lack of empirical research which considers reflection within the context of both the marketing and general business education literature. This paper describes the use of an instrument which can be used to measure four identified levels of a reflection hierarchy: habitual action, understanding, reflection and intensive reflection and two conditions for reflection: instructor to student interaction and student to student interaction. Further we demonstrate the importance of reflective learning in predicting graduates’ perception of program quality. Although the focus was on assessment of MBA level curricula, the findings have great importance to marketing education and educators
