Keep Calm and Carry On: Children’s Self-Regulation in Early Years Settings

Early childhood education and care (ECEC) in Ireland promotes the development and education of children aged from birth to six years. Over a third of nine-month-olds and over half of three-year-olds experience some form of non-parental care in Ireland (Williams, Murray, McCrory and McNally, 2013), with type and duration of ECEC experiences varying considerably. However, almost all children aged between three and four years avail of the free pre-school year which was introduced in January 2010, administered by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. Irish ECEC policy is developing rapidly. Responsibility for policy developments in the ECEC sector is shared by the Department of Education and Skills (DES) and the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA). Two key frameworks underpinning ECEC provision are SĂolta, the national quality framework for Early Childhood Education (Centre for Early Childhood Development and Education, 2006) and Aistear, the early childhood curriculum framework (National Council for Curriculum and Assessment, 2009). Implementation of the early childhood curriculum is not mandatory, however, in ECEC settings (French, 2013)..

    Temporal Self-Regulation of Energy Demand

The increase in the deployment of smart meters has enabled collection of fine-grained energy consumption data at consumer premises. Analysis of this real-time energy consumption data bestows new opportunities for better demand-response (DR) programs. This paper offers a new perspective to study energy demand and helps in designing novel mechanisms for decentralized demand-side management. Specifically, a new concept of finding the demand states using energy consumption of consumers over time and feasible transitions therein is introduced. It is shown that the orchestration of temporal transitions between the demand states can meet broad range of smart grid objectives. An online demand regulation model is developed that captures the temporal dynamics of energy demand to identify target consumers for different DR programs. This methodology is empirically evaluated and validated using data from more than 4000 households, which were part of a real-world smart grid project. This paper is the first one to comprehensively analyze the temporal dynamics of demands

The existence of codes of conduct in communication field is still interesting to be discussed. Not many practioners and people consider to this conduct while they were doing their jobs. They have major problems in dealing with ethics issues, especially when communicationg in the publics arena. Communications freedom and communications technology are accussed as caustive prima of communications ethics problems. To solve the problem, this article proposes self regulations to control our communication behaviour

A Multilevel Analysis of the Effect of Prompting Self-Regulation in Technology-Delivered Instruction

We used a within-subjects design and multilevel modeling in two studies to examine the effect of prompting self-regulation, an intervention designed to improve learning from technology-delivered instruction. The results of two studies indicate trainees who were prompted to self-regulate gradually improved their knowledge and performance over time, relative to the control condition. In addition, Study 2 demonstrated that trainees’ cognitive ability and self-efficacy moderated the effect of the prompts. Prompting self-regulation resulted in stronger learning gains over time for trainees with higher ability or higher self-efficacy. Overall, the two studies demonstrate that prompting self-regulation had a gradual, positive effect on learning, and the strength of the effect increased as trainees progressed through training. The results are consistent with theory suggesting self-regulation is a cyclical process that has a gradual effect on learning and highlight the importance of using a within-subjects design in self-regulation. research

Social media has become an important part of the daily lives of many individuals, especially among early adulthood. One of the popular social media platforms is TikTok. Majority TikTok users in Indonesia come from early adulthood, in age range from 18 to 25 years. One of the negative impacts of TikTok is the emergence of fear of missing out on information. Self-regulation is one of the important things in reducing the negative impact of Fear of Missing out (FoMo), this is because self-regulation has an important role in controlling an individual's ability to use social media This research aims to determine the relationship between self-regulation and FoMO among early adult users of the TikTok application. This research used quantitative methods with non-probability sampling, and accidental sampling technique and using a self-regulation scale and a FoMO scale which were then distributed via Google from involving a total of 139 respondents with the criteria for active early adult TikTok users and the age range of 18 to 25 years. The research results showed that there was a relationship between self-regulation ability and the level of FoMo in individuals(r = -0438 ; p = 0,00),, where the higher the level of self-regulation, the lower the level of FoMo felt by early adult individuals

High school students tend to do academic procrastination, which is behaviour that relates to delay action towards academic tasks during their study. Refer to this condition, SAT training (Self Regulation, Assertiveness and Time Management) is designed to reduce academic procrastination of high school students. Subjects are high school students in class XI. This research uses experimental design one-group pretest-posttest design. The results showed t values = 1, 403 with p = 0.175 (
