Investigating IoT Middleware Platforms for Smart Application Development

With the growing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the data generated through these devices is also increasing. By 2030, it is been predicted that the number of IoT devices will exceed the number of human beings on earth. This gives rise to the requirement of middleware platform that can manage IoT devices, intelligently store and process gigantic data generated for building smart applications such as Smart Cities, Smart Healthcare, Smart Industry, and others. At present, market is overwhelming with the number of IoT middleware platforms with specific features. This raises one of the most serious and least discussed challenge for application developer to choose suitable platform for their application development. Across the literature, very little attempt is done in classifying or comparing IoT middleware platforms for the applications. This paper categorizes IoT platforms into four categories namely-publicly traded, open source, developer friendly and end-to-end connectivity. Some of the popular middleware platforms in each category are investigated based on general IoT architecture. Comparison of IoT middleware platforms in each category, based on basic, sensing, communication and application development features is presented. This study can be useful for IoT application developers to select the most appropriate platform according to their application requirement

    Smart matching

One of the most annoying aspects in the formalization of mathematics is the need of transforming notions to match a given, existing result. This kind of transformations, often based on a conspicuous background knowledge in the given scientific domain (mostly expressed in the form of equalities or isomorphisms), are usually implicit in the mathematical discourse, and it would be highly desirable to obtain a similar behavior in interactive provers. The paper describes the superposition-based implementation of this feature inside the Matita interactive theorem prover, focusing in particular on the so called smart application tactic, supporting smart matching between a goal and a given result.Comment: To appear in The 9th International Conference on Mathematical Knowledge Management: MKM 201

Website hospital applications are one of the technological developments that affect service quality. Therefore it is necessary to evaluate the quality of the information system provided in the hospital. The method used is webqual 4.0 with usability, information quality, and service interaction quality. Data collection was carried out used a questionnaire given to 232 health workers at RSAB Harapan Kita who interacted with the SMART application. The analysis technique used is descriptive analysis technique with a quantitative approach and cross-sectional research design. The results of this study were 74.1% stated that the quality of the application was good and 25.9% said that the quality of the application was not good, as much as 43.5% stated that the quality was sufficient when viewed from the usability dimension, 40.9% in the information quality dimension, and 40. 1% for the service interaction quality dimension. The SMART application at RSAB Harapan Kita does not yet contain clear instructions or references, does not perfectly present relevant information, and the officer states that they do not feel safe about personal information on the SMART application

    Superposition as a logical glue

The typical mathematical language systematically exploits notational and logical abuses whose resolution requires not just the knowledge of domain specific notation and conventions, but not trivial skills in the given mathematical discipline. A large part of this background knowledge is expressed in form of equalities and isomorphisms, allowing mathematicians to freely move between different incarnations of the same entity without even mentioning the transformation. Providing ITP-systems with similar capabilities seems to be a major way to improve their intelligence, and to ease the communication between the user and the machine. The present paper discusses our experience of integration of a superposition calculus within the Matita interactive prover, providing in particular a very flexible, "smart" application tactic, and a simple, innovative approach to automation.Comment: In Proceedings TYPES 2009, arXiv:1103.311

The learning media based on android for biology have not been used optimally in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The research objective was to determine the feasibility of blood smart applications as a learning media based on android for biology in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. The type of research used is research and development with the Thiagarajan Four-D model which includes define, design, and develop. The research instrument used a material expert questionnaire, media expert, teacher practicality questionnaire, and student practicality questionnaire given to 30 students. The research data is qualitative in the form of suggestions and comments from experts and teachers which are analyzed descriptively, while quantitative data is processed into interval data using a Likert scale. The results showed that the blood smart application was declared valid in the media aspect (95.2%), the material aspect (87.5%). The practicality of the blood smart application by the teacher was 95% (very practical criteria), and the practicality by students was 91.8% (very practical criteria). Thus, the blood smart application is suitable for use as a learning media based on android for biology in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0

Semi-autonomous, context-aware, agent using behaviour modelling and reputation systems to authorize data operation in the Internet of Things

In this paper we address the issue of gathering the "informed consent" of an end user in the Internet of Things. We start by evaluating the legal importance and some of the problems linked with this notion of informed consent in the specific context of the Internet of Things. From this assessment we propose an approach based on a semi-autonomous, rule based agent that centralize all authorization decisions on the personal data of a user and that is able to take decision on his behalf. We complete this initial agent by integrating context-awareness, behavior modeling and community based reputation system in the algorithm of the agent. The resulting system is a "smart" application, the "privacy butler" that can handle data operations on behalf of the end-user while keeping the user in control. We finally discuss some of the potential problems and improvements of the system.Comment: This work is currently supported by the BUTLER Project co-financed under the 7th framework program of the European Commission. published in Internet of Things (WF-IoT), 2014 IEEE World Forum, 6-8 March 2014, Seoul, P411-416, DOI: 10.1109/WF-IoT.2014.6803201, INSPEC: 1425565
