The Approximate Capacity of the MIMO Relay Channel
Capacity bounds are studied for the multiple-antenna complex Gaussian relay
channel with t1 transmitting antennas at the sender, r2 receiving and t2
transmitting antennas at the relay, and r3 receiving antennas at the receiver.
It is shown that the partial decode-forward coding scheme achieves within
min(t1,r2) bits from the cutset bound and at least one half of the cutset
bound, establishing a good approximate expression of the capacity. A similar
additive gap of min(t1 + t2, r3) + r2 bits is shown to be achieved by the

The reduction of spaced wind measurements taken over a range of heights is described. The equipment used is a medium frequency radar with one site consisting of a vertically pointing transmitter and space receiving antennas, and two remote receiving sites with spaced antennas. Assuming approximately horizontally stratified scatterers, horizontal winds are thus available at the corners of a triangle of side approx. 20 km in the GRAVNET system

Experimental study of depolarization and antenna correlation in tunnels in the 1.3 GHz band
Measurements have been carried out in a low-traffic road tunnel to investigate the influence of the polarization of the transmitting and receiving antennas on the channel characteristics. A real-time channel sounder working in a frequency band around 1.3 GHz has been used, the elements of the transmitting and receiving arrays being dual-polarized patch antennas. Special emphasis is made on cross-polarization discrimination factor and on the spatial correlation between array elements which has a great influence on the performances of transmit/receive diversity schemes. Various polarizations both at the transmitter and the receiver have been tested to minimize this spatial correlation while keeping the size of the array as small as possible
Microwave technique measures plasma characteristics
