Self organization in 3GPP long term evolution networks
Review of network integration techniques for mobile broadband services in next generation network
Next Generation Network (NGN) is intended at integrating the existing heterogeneous wireless access networks in order to produce a composite network that provides users with ubiquitous broadband experience. Currently, it has been established that Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, as a backbone network, provides broadband capacity with high efficiency, reduced latency and improved resource provisioning. Resource provisioning on this backbone network is not without its limitation as more mobile broadband services (MBBs) are evolving and users demand for mobility is on the increase. This paper, therefore, reviewed the different integration techniques for the heterogeneous networks that use LTE network as backbone that supports mobile broadband services. Keywords: MBB, NGN, LTE, SIP, Qo
Interworking Architectures in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks: An Algorithmic Overview
The scarce availability of spectrum and the proliferation of
smartphones, social networking applications, online gaming
etc., mobile network operators (MNOs) are faced with an
exponential growth in packet switched data requirements on
their networks. Haven invested in legacy systems (such as
HSPA, WCDMA, WiMAX, Cdma2000, LTE, etc.) that have
hitherto withstood the current and imminent data usage
demand, future and projected usage surpass the capabilities of the evolution of these individual technologies. Hence, a more critical, cost-effective and flexible approach to provide ubiquitous coverage for the user using available spectrum is of high demand. Heterogeneous Networks make use of these legacy systems by allowing users to connect to the best network available and most importantly seamlessly handover active sessions amidst them. This paper presents a survey of interworking architectures between IMT 2000 candidate networks that employ the use of IEFT protocols such as MIP, mSCTP, HIP, MOBIKE, IKEV2 and SIP etc. to bring about this much needed capacity
LTE Handover performance evaluation based on power budget handover algorithm
LTE (Long Term Evolution) is a fourth generation cellular network technology that provides improved performance related to data rate, coverage and capacity compared to legacy cellular systems. In this context, one of the main goals of LTE is to provide fast and seamless handover from one cell to another to meet a strict delay requirement while simultaneously keeping network management simple. Hence, the decision to trigger a handover is a crucial component in the design process of handover, since the success and the efficiency, to a large extent, depends on the accuracy and timeliness of the decision. The design of an efficient and successful handover requires a careful selection of HO parameters and the optimal setting of these. The LTE standard supports two parameters to trigger the handover and select the target cell: hysteresis margin and Time-to-Trigger (TTT) The research topic of this thesis which is “LTE Handover Performance Evaluation Based on Power Budget Handover Algorithm”, focuses on different combinations or settings of HOM and TTT values to evaluate the handover performance based on Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) measurement within certain deployment scenarios, such as different UE speeds, system loads and cell sizes. The Power Budget Handover Algorithm (PBHA) picks the best hysteresis and time-to-trigger combinations to evaluate the system performance in terms of number of handovers, signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR), throughput, delay and packet lost for UE's which are about to perform the handover
SAI: safety application identifier algorithm at MAC layer for vehicular safety message dissemination over LTE VANET networks
Vehicular safety applications have much significance in preventing road accidents and fatalities. Among others, cellular networks have been under investigation for the procurement of these applications subject to stringent requirements for latency, transmission parameters, and successful delivery of messages. Earlier contributions have studied utilization of Long-Term Evolution (LTE) under single cell, Friis radio, or simplified higher layer. In this paper, we study the utilization of LTE under multicell and multipath fading environment and introduce the use of adaptive awareness range. Then, we propose an algorithm that uses the concept of quality of service (QoS) class identifiers (QCIs) along with dynamic adaptive awareness range. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of background traffic on the proposed algorithm. Finally, we utilize medium access control (MAC) layer elements in order to fulfill vehicular application requirements through extensive system-level simulations. The results show that, by using an awareness range of up to 250 m, the LTE system is capable of fulfilling the safety application requirements for up to 10 beacons/s with 150 vehicles in an area of 2 × 2 km2. The urban vehicular radio environment has a significant impact and decreases the probability for end-to-end delay to be ≤100 ms from 93%–97% to 76%–78% compared to the Friis radio environment. The proposed algorithm reduces the amount of vehicular application traffic from 21 Mbps to 13 Mbps, while improving the probability of end-to-end delay being ≤100 ms by 20%. Lastly, use of MAC layer control elements brings the processing of messages towards the edge of network increasing capacity of the system by about 50%
Performance Comparison of Handover mechanisms in mobile wireless communication networks for Broadband Wireless Access Systems
Mobility is the mobile communication characteristics which make it diverse and attractive for all. Wireless communication is now attractive to the whole world and provides the ability of users to communicate very active. Transferring the users from one radio network to another is accomplishing the IT. The process is called the handover process. The transfer takes place by adjusting the duration of the soft transfers, the area size and either by cell crossing or by deterioration in the signal quality of the current channel — the brief overview of handover, Handover in WiMAX and LTE, types of handover, handover types solutions, approaches used in literature are typically transfer parameters and I contemporary the convergent fact for continuance in the area of mobile and wireless communication Handover
