    Modeling a Interworking WiMax LAN and MANET using OPNET Software

    Recent research has been made for the convergence of WiMAX Networks (WiMAXN) and mobile ad hoc systems in order to achieve the MANET requirement for guaranteed 100 Mbps for heavy traffic convergence. The WiMN access point can be enhanced to either incorporate or supplant the transmission and packet data capabilities in the MANET. For this research OPNET Modeler has been used to design, implement, and test a network system level simulation environment to allow researcher to study the issues for interworking the infrastructure-based MANET technologies into WiMAXN systems. The specific contribution of this research was to augment the current OPNET model library using the standard MAC protocol will not incorporate the MANET, so by modifying the MAC PLC on MANET technologies and the Mobility protocol in WiMAXN the access to the network and reliability will increase

    Performance Evaluation of Routing Protocols for Vehicle Re-Routing in ITS-based Vehicular Networks

    This study aims to assess the performance of routing protocols in Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)-based vehicular networks, specifically in accident and highway scenarios. The effective management of traffic flow in these situations is crucial for ensuring the safety and smooth operation of vehicular networks. Therefore, it is imperative to evaluate routing protocols to identify the most suitable one for these scenarios. The evaluation considers various commonly used routing protocols in vehicular networks, including Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Ad hoc On-Demand Multipath Distance Vector (AOMDV), and Destination-Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV). The evaluation is based on several performance metrics, such as packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, network throughput, normalized routing load, and routing overhead. These metrics provide insights into the effectiveness and efficiency of the routing protocols in handling re-routing in accident and highway scenarios. The research is divided into two modules, Module I and Module II, to evaluate the effectiveness of routing protocols in these distinct scenarios using the NS2 simulation tool. The simulation results are analyzed and compared to determine the performance of the routing protocols in each module. The findings indicate that AODV consistently achieves the highest throughput, packet delivery ratio, and lowest end-to-end delay, routing overhead, and normalized routing load, followed by AOMDV and then DSDV. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of different routing protocols in accident and highway scenarios. This knowledge can assist in the development of more efficient and reliable routing protocols for vehicular networks

    Mobile Ad hoc Networks constitute a promising and fast developing technology that could significantly enhance user freedom. The flexibility provided by such networks is accompanied by unreliability due to notably dynamic conditions that render routing quite problematic. For that reason, the research community has proposed multiple protocols claimed to address this issue, however, only few have been tested via real experiments, while even fewer have reached maturity to become readily available to end users. The main purpose of this paper is to pragmatically evaluate a promising, complete, and finalized MANET protocol via real-world experimentation in open space environment. The considered protocol, with the acronym B.A.T.M.A.N, which is based on distance vector proactive routing, was tested in different networking scenarios that revealed its ability to satisfactorily handle traffic under different conditions

    A vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is a mobile ad hoc network that allows wireless communication between vehicles, as well as between vehicles and roadside equipment. Communication between vehicles promotes safety and reliability, and can be a source of entertainment. We investigated the historical development, characteristics, and application fields of VANET and briefly introduced them in this study. Advantages and disadvantages were discussed based on our analysis and comparison of various classes of MAC and routing protocols applied to VANET. Ideas and breakthrough directions for inter-vehicle communication designs were proposed based on the characteristics of VANET. This article also illustrates physical, MAC, and network layer in details which represent the three layers of VANET.
