Logic programming in the context of multiparadigm programming: the Oz experience
Oz is a multiparadigm language that supports logic programming as one of its
major paradigms. A multiparadigm language is designed to support different
programming paradigms (logic, functional, constraint, object-oriented,
sequential, concurrent, etc.) with equal ease. This article has two goals: to
give a tutorial of logic programming in Oz and to show how logic programming
fits naturally into the wider context of multiparadigm programming. Our
experience shows that there are two classes of problems, which we call
algorithmic and search problems, for which logic programming can help formulate
practical solutions. Algorithmic problems have known efficient algorithms.
Search problems do not have known efficient algorithms but can be solved with
search. The Oz support for logic programming targets these two problem classes
specifically, using the concepts needed for each. This is in contrast to the
Prolog approach, which targets both classes with one set of concepts, which
results in less than optimal support for each class. To explain the essential
difference between algorithmic and search programs, we define the Oz execution
model. This model subsumes both concurrent logic programming
(committed-choice-style) and search-based logic programming (Prolog-style).
Instead of Horn clause syntax, Oz has a simple, fully compositional,
higher-order syntax that accommodates the abilities of the language. We
conclude with lessons learned from this work, a brief history of Oz, and many

The Effect of Earnings Per Share (Eps) & Return on Equity (Roe) on Stock Price of Banking Company Listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange (Idx) 2010-2014
Capital market is one of the instruments in the world of business to make profit. Investors invest at capital markets because of the expected profit. Investors often suffer loss of funds when investing because they do not see the factors that affect the value of the stock price. The purpose of this research was analyzing the effect of Earnings per Share (EPS) and Return on Equity (ROE) on Stock Price of banking company listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2010-2014. The samples used were 5 banking companies that passed the test of purposive sampling. Correlation coefficient (R) indicates the variable has a strong relationship. Coefficient of determination shows that the Stock Price is influenced by the EPS and ROE. Simultaneously both EPS and ROE variables affect stock price. Partially, EPS have significant positive effect on Stock Price while ROE does not affect partially on Stock Price. Thus, banking companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange in improving corporate performance need to pay attention to Earnings per Share and Return on Equity because both variables simultaneously have a significant effect on stock prices Keywords: stock price, EPS, RO
Effect of Ergonomical Factors on the Employees
To improve and enlightening production ergonomics is a search widespread to numerous organizations in diverse engineering and management zones. At the foundation is an ambition to eradicate hazards for job concerned musculoskeletal disorders, but recent observations on ergonomics have developed the discipline from a merely physiological, anthropometrical, and Psychosocial influential apprehension to an organizational, systems performance discipline. This research recommends that in an organization ergonomics infrastructure is made up of the structural, technical, executive and stakeholder comparative circumstances that allow or obstruct development of ergonomics. These circumstances spotlight on the positioning of diverse employees towards ergonomics concerns in an organization, the relationships between user, workers or employees, scenario, scheme and strategy they use for arguments, and the manipulate that occur from industry-particular culture, insolences and technical incorporation (or elimination) of ergonomics into engineering and production progressions. The information deduced from the research in this paper has been produced together with pertinent theoretical perceptions originated in the literature, into a Tentative Agenda which conducts empirical data assembly intended at planning the ergonomics infrastructure in an organization. Its step-by-step methodical appraisal of circumstances at diverse hierarchical levels in the organization should serve ergonomics experts and managers alike in classifying pathways and obstructions to improve production ergonomics
Monadic second order finite satisfiability and unbounded tree-width
The finite satisfiability problem of monadic second order logic is decidable
only on classes of structures of bounded tree-width by the classic result of
Seese (1991). We prove the following problem is decidable:
Input: (i) A monadic second order logic sentence , and (ii) a
sentence in the two-variable fragment of first order logic extended
with counting quantifiers. The vocabularies of and may
intersect.
Output: Is there a finite structure which satisfies such
that the restriction of the structure to the vocabulary of has bounded
tree-width? (The tree-width of the desired structure is not bounded.)

Towards procedural strategy game generation : evolving complementary unit types
The Strategy Game Description Game Language (SGDL) is intended to become a complete description of all aspects of strategy games, including rules, parameters, scenarios, maps, and unit types. One of the main envisioned uses of SGDL, in combination with an evolutionary algorithm and appropriate fitness functions, is to allow the generation of complete new strategy games or variations of old ones. This paper presents a first version of SGDL, capable of describing unit types and their properties, together with plans for how it will be extended to other sub-domains of strategy games. As a proof of the viability of the idea and implementation, an experiment is presented where unit types are evolved so as to generate complementary properties. A fitness function based on Monte Carlo simulation of gameplay is devised to test complementarity.peer-reviewe
The Relative Effects of Logistics, Coordination and Human Resource on Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief Mission Performance
Most studies on humanitarian aid and disaster relief (HADR) missions suggest that the quality of logistics, coordination and human resource management will affect their performance. However, studies in developing countries are mainly conceptual and lack the necessary empirical evidence to support these contentions. The current paper thereby aimed to fill this knowledge gap by statistically examining the effects of the abovementioned factors on such missions. Focusing on the Malaysian army due to its extensive experience in HADR operations, the paper opted for a quantitative approach to allow for a more objective analysis of the issues. The results show that there are other potential determinants of mission success which deserve due attention in future studies. They also suggest that human resource is not easily measured as a construct, and that this limitation in methodology must be overcome to derive more accurate conclusions regarding its effect on HADR mission performance.
