Maximal curves from subcovers of the GK-curve
For every with a prime power greater than , the GK-curve is an
-maximal curve that is not -covered by the
Hermitian curve. In this paper some Galois subcovers of the GK curve are
investigated. We describe explicit equations for some families of quotients of
the GK-curve. New values in the spectrum of genera of -maximal
curves are obtained. Finally, infinitely many further examples of maximal
curves that cannot be Galois covered by the Hermitian curve are provided
On maximal curves in cubic surfaces

The study of maximal curves was renewed after Goppa have shown their applications in Coding Theory. A well-known and studied maximal curve (in different contexts) is the Hermitian curve; from such a curve, there are others like their quotients by subgroups of automorphisms. Currently it is known that there are maximal curves which do not arise as above, namely the so-called GK-curve (and some of its quotients). This thesis studied maximal curves whose genus satisfy conditions regarding the number of Castelnuovo of space curves. Therefore, having supported on a result of Joe Harris in zero characteristic, we conjecture an analog in positive characteristic and we show that these maximal curves are contained in a cubic surface. So we manage to compute a geometric invariant of the curve and we see that, except one case, there is a curve that performs such invariants. Finally, we show two plane models of a certain maximal curves which are birationally equivalent and we also generalize an example of Fanali-Giulietti which allows us to write new plane models of maximal curvesDoutoradoMatematicaDoutor em Matemátic
