In this contribution, the basic overview of the Object Oriented Programming and its usage in computation is given. Concepts of class, encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism are introduced. Some additional concepts like interface and Design Patterns are briefly discussed. Schematic examples in C++ are given. --

    Object-oriented development

Object Oriented Development (OOD) is one of the extremely few software development methods actually designed for modern Ada language, real-time, embedded applications. OOD is a significant improvement over more traditional functional decomposition and modeling methods in that ODD: Better manages the size, complexity, and concurrancy of today's systems; Better addresses important software engineering principles such as abstract data types, levels of abstraction, and information hiding; Produces a better design that more closely matches reality; Produces more maintainable software by better localizing data and thus limiting the impact of requirements changes; and Specifically exploits the power of Ada. OOD is further explored in detail

A unified framework for verification techniques for object invariants

    Get PDF
Object invariants define the consistency of objects. They have subtle semantics, mainly because of call-backs, multi-object invariants, and subclassing. Several verification techniques for object invariants have been proposed. It is difficult to compare these techniques, and to ascertain their soundness, because of their differences in restrictions on programs and invariants, in the use of advanced type systems (e.g., ownership types), in the meaning of invariants, and in proof obligations. We develop a unified framework for such techniques. We distil seven parameters that characterise a verification technique, and identify sufficient conditions on these parameters which guarantee soundness. We instantiate our framework with three verification techniques from the literature, and use it to assess soundness and compare expressiveness.peer-reviewe

    Object oriented execution model (OOM)

This paper considers implementing the Object Oriented Programming Model directly in the hardware to serve as a base to exploit object-level parallelism, speculation and heterogeneous computing. Towards this goal, we present a new execution model called Object Oriented execution Model - OOM - that implements the OO Programming Models. All OOM hardware structures are objects and the OOM Instruction Set directly utilizes objects while hiding other complex hardware structures. OOM maintains all high-level programming language information until execution time. This enables efficient extraction of available parallelism in OO serial code at execution time with minimal compiler support. Our results show that OOM utilizes the available parallelism better than the OoO (Out-of-Order) modelPeer ReviewedPostprint (published version
