Getting Heads into the Cloud: Pre-Adoption Beliefs and Attitudes
This paper reports on the first phase of a 2-phase confirmation-disconfirmation study in which we conduct a pre-implementation survey of employees at a mid-sized university who are about to have their desktop computers replaced with cloud based systems. Specifically, we are interested in their pre-adoption attitudes toward the system and use intentions. We test a model that predicts pre-adoption attitudes based on individual characteristics including compter self efficacy and perceptions of the IT department that will be implementing the cloud system (perceptions of trust and service quality). We find that perceptions of the IT department influence pre-adoption perceptions of control over the system, which influences perceived usefulness and pre-adoption use intentions. Findings are highlighted in terms of implications for research and practice, in particular, we stress the importance of the ability of IT departments to manage user’s perceptions of trust and service quality to the success of IT initiatives
Jobs 4.0: Are Botswana Workers Ready?
This paper attempts to unravel the potential social effects of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) on Botswana employees. The authors investigated employees’ level of awareness and preparedness for an era of full blown 4IR adoption. Utilizing purposive sampling, a self-administered questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 52 employees in Gaborone. This work employed the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model (UTAUT). The major findings of the study are: 50% of respondents confirmed their preparedness for the adoption of 4IR technologies; 48% believed that the rest of employees in their organization were prepared for 4IR; 65% said they were prepared to embrace and take advantage of the efficiencies brought about by 4IR; job roles are likely to change significantly with some roles disappearing and new roles emerging; and critical thinking, complex problem solving, innovation and digital related skills are bound to be more in demand. The outcomes of this research will serve as a wakeup call to Botswana employees, to equip themselves and future generations with requisite skills, for the changing roles. Furthermore, organizations will also use the outcomes to consider reskilling their employees accordingly. For educators, the study will encourage consideration and alignment of the curricular while in terms of and for policy formulation, it will engender reflecting on the regulatory frameworks to align them to the demands of the new era. Keywords: Fourth Industrial Revolution, industry 4.0, jobs4.0, future of jobs DOI: 10.7176/DCS/11-2-05 Publication date: February 28th 202
Factors affecting health care workers' acceptance and use of Telehealth in hospitals in Kwazulu-Natal
Magister Public Health - MPH (Public Health)Background and rationale: Telehealth is a collection of methods for enhancing health care,
public health, and health education delivery and support using telecommunications technologies.
Despite the many reported benefits of telehealth, there are challenges to its continued and
widespread use in South Africa. It remains unclear what facilitates or hinders the integration of
telehealth into routine clinical practice.
Study aim and objectives: Drawing on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of
Technology (UTAUT), this study investigated factors affecting healthcare workers' acceptance
and use of telehealth in hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Specifically, it described the
frequency and nature of telehealth use and the factors associated with technology acceptance;
and evaluated the influence of socio-demographic factors (age, experience, profession,
qualification) and acceptance factors on use and behavioural intention to use telehealth.
Methods: A quantitative survey in seven hospitals (2 tertiary, 3 regional, 2 district) with
telehealth facilities falling under the KZN Department of Health, was conducted. 177 medical,
nursing, pharmacy and allied staff consented to complete an on-line, closed ended and structured
self-administered questionnaire based on the UTAUT model. The responses to the individual
likert scale items were assigned a score (1-4), and from this, total scores calculated for each
construct. Respondent characteristics were converted into binary variables and associations with
total scores on each of the UTAUT acceptance domains were tested using t-test. The associations
between behavioural intention and actual use (as binary dependent variables); and the respondent
profiles, scores for performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating
conditions (independent variables) were assessed in two multivariate logistic regression models

PERCEPTIONS AND EXPERIENCES OF ADOPTING A TECHNOLOGY BASED INTERVENTION FOR ALCOHOL SCREENING AND REFERRAL TO TREATMENT IN PRIMARY CARE
Alcohol abuse is a significant concern in the United States. Today in the U.S., 15.1 million adults ages 18 and older, have been identified as having an alcohol use disorder. Alcohol abuse and binge drinking are highest amongst college students. More than 58.0 percent of college students admit to regular binge drinking or heavy alcohol use every month. Left unaddressed, this leads to negative health consequences later in life. The United States Preventive Services Task Force states that there is strong evidence that screening patients in primary care can reduce alcohol use disorder. Though screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT) in primary care are critical steps towards preventing alcohol use disorder, it is not routinely done. Providers state that they are time-constrained and need processes that will help them carry out screenings. The use of technology integrated with the electronic health record is one way to address the issue. The purpose of this study was to provide an understanding of the health care provider\u27s perceptions and experiences with technology adoption in alcohol use disorder and clinical SBIRT. The study used an exploratory, descriptive methods approach to gain a comprehensive understanding of what acts as a facilitator or barrier to technology adoption in SBIRT in primary care. The findings show that there is a gap in the understanding of how to integrate behavioral health screenings in the primary care workflow and EHR. Providers want to do SBIRT in clinical care, yet time-constrained visits remain an issue. Providers highlighted the importance of mapping the workflow in advance of practice change and using pilots before undertaking a broader practice change
Työntekijöiden asenne digitalisaatiota kohtaan on vastoinkäymisistä huolimatta positiivinen. Työntekijän oma asenne digitalisaatiota koh-taan vaikuttaa paljon siihen, nähdäänkö tieto- ja viestintäteknologia omassa työssä rajoitteena vai mah-dollisuutena.fi=Opinnäytetyö kokotekstinä PDF-muodossa.|en=Thesis fulltext in PDF format.|sv=Lärdomsprov tillgängligt som fulltext i PDF-format
Modeling Analysis of the Factors Affecting the Information and Communication Technology Acceptance and Use
Import 16/04/2013Over the last decade the business world has changed so rapidly, that one can no longer imagine managing in a steady state. In no other domain has this observation been more relevant than in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The Internet and mobile technology, the two most dynamic technological forces in
modern information and communication technologies are converging into one ubiquitous
mobile Internet service, which will change our way of both doing business and dealing with our daily routine activities. There is no doubt that the mobile Internet service is moving toward the new generation on which enables mobile users to enjoy a variety of
new and upgraded multimedia mobile services.
Agarwal (2000) defines technology adoption as the use, or acceptance of a new technology, or new product. Moreover, understanding individual acceptance and use of
information technology is one of the most mature streams of information systems
research. In Information Technology and Information System (IT/IS) research, numerous
theories are used to understand users’ adoption of new technologies. Various models
were developed including the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and recently, the Unified
Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). Each of these models has sought to identify the factors which influence a citizen’s intention or actual use of information technology.Prezenční460 - Katedra informatikyvyhově
Secure Strategies for Internet of Things Implementation in Warehouse Environments
The internet of things (IoT) in warehouse environments may present security issues and challenges. These issues and challenges may impact information technology (IT) leadership in warehouse environments because a lack of security strategy adoption may lead to increased network breaches. Grounded in the technology acceptance model, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between IT leaderships’ perceived ease-of-use, perceived usefulness of IoT devices, and their intent to adopt security strategies for IoT implementation in warehouse environments. Data were collected from IT leaders in North Texas warehouse environments using a peer-reviewed adoption survey from PsycTESTS.org. The results of the regression indicated that the model was insignificant, F(2, 66) = 1.721, p \u3e .05, R2 = 0.50. However, IT leadership’s Perceived Usefulness (β = .233) contributed more to the model than IT leadership’s Perceived Ease of Use (β = -.044). A key recommendation is for IT leaders to incorporate strategies to increase their perceived ease of usefulness. The implications for social change include the potential to increase the efficiency of warehousing and ensure the successful delivery of product for citizens
