    USING ADVANCED DATA MINING AND INTEGRATION IN ENVIRONMENTAL PREDICTION SCENARIOS

    We present one of the meteorological and hydrological experiments performed in the FP7 project ADMIRE. It serves as an experimental platform for hydrologists, and we have used it also as a testing platform for a suite of advanced data integration and data mining (DMI) tools, developed within ADMIRE. The idea of ADMIRE is to develop an advanced DMI platform accessible even to users who are not familiar with data mining techniques. To this end, we have designed a novel DMI architecture, supported by a set of software tools, managed by DMI process descriptions written in a specialized high-level DMI language called DISPEL, and controlled via several different user interfaces, each performing a different set of tasks and targeting different user group

    Application of Advanced Information and Communication Technologies in a Local Flood Warning System

    This paper deals with the practical application of a local flood warning system. The system is built on the mathematical model of a selected area. The rainfall-runoff processes are simulated in real-time. The warning system is designed as an on-line, real-time data inputs-processing system so that it can provide a timely warning. The warning system is based on a mathematical model and it uses modern information and communication technology tools. For the system to work properly, it is absolutely necessary to adhere to a real mathematical model, and therefore a calibration on real historical data and direct measurements is required. This article describes the tasks of data collection, of building the mathematical model of the rainfall-runoff process, and the monitoring system design. The composed algorithm is able, based on the measured input data and the modeled situation, send a notification message to the monitoring centre and warn respective civil protection authorities via SMS messages

    Effective Computation Resilience in High Performance and Distributed Environments

    The work described in this paper aims at effective computation resilience for complex simulations in high performance and distributed environments. Computation resilience is a complicated and delicate area; it deals with many types of simulation cores, many types of data on various input levels and also with many types of end-users, which have different requirements and expectations. Predictions about system and computation behaviors must be done based on deep knowledge about underlying infrastructures, and simulations' mathematical and realization backgrounds. Our conceptual framework is intended to allow independent collaborations between domain experts as end-users and providers of the computational power by taking on all of the deployment troubles arising within a given computing environment. The goal of our work is to provide a generalized approach for effective scalable usage of the computing power and to help domain-experts, so that they could concentrate more intensive on their domain solutions without the need of investing efforts in learning and adapting to the new IT backbone technologies

    his paper describes our contribution to the research of parametrized models and methods for detection and prediction of significant meteorological phenomena, especially fog and low cloud cover. The project covered methods for integration of distributed meteorological data necessary for running the prediction models, training models and then mining the data in order to be able to efficiently and quickly predict even sparsely occurring phenomena. The detection and prediction methods are based on knowledge discovery -- data mining of meteorological data using neural networks and decision trees. The mined data were mainly METAR aerodrome messages, meteorological data from specialized stations and cloud data from special airport sensors -- laser ceilometers

    Last fifty years a significant advancement has been established in biological science. It happened due to the discovery of gene, genome and genetic code, function of genes and mutation of genes. Through this, the scientists have discovered that genetic code is the building block and fundamental of all molecular activity in biological system. According to this, several molecular techniques have been established to prove molecular events, effects of chemical exposure within individuals and environment. For this evaluation, the necessary of toxicogenomics is crucial, that deals with the effects of chemical in changing the genetic pattern along with mutation into gene. Toxicogenomics also deals with transcription of proteins and metabolite profiling to investigate the interaction of genes and environment stress in disease. Toxicogenomics also described the altered expression of genes caused by mutation and chemical exposure that cause several disease and show toxicant functions in cell. The main objective of toxicogenomics is to remove this exposure and provide remedy of these toxical diseases. The use, application, correlation, combination and collaboration of different significant, major, modern biological fields like proteomics, transcriptomics, bioinformatics, microarray and several other molecular process is carried out by toxicogenomics that gradually evolving in systems toxicology.     Comparisons of resource assessments suggest resource constraints are not an obstacle to the large-scale deployment of renewable energy technologies. Economic analysis identifies barriers to the adoption of renewable energy sources resulting from market structure, competition in an uneven playing field and various non-market place barriers. However, even if these barriers are removed, the problem of ‘technology lock-out’ remains. The key policy response is strategic deployment coupled with increased R&D support to accelerate the pace of improvement through market experience.
