The objective of this research is to describe the result of assessment for students in solving exponents and logarithms problems in class X Mathematics and Natural Science (MIA) 2 Senior High School 1 Depok, Sleman included the rate of achievements level of solving the problem, the percentage of completion of each items, and the absorption percentage of students in exponents and logarithms material. In addition, the objective of this research is to describe the mistake that being done by students of class X Mathematics and Natural Science (MIA) 2 Senior High School 1 Depok, Sleman. This research is categorized into an explorative research with mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative approach) with the participant-selection (qualitative-emphasized) model involving 32 students of class X Mathematics and Natural Science (MIA) 2 in Senior High School 1 Depok, Sleman. The 12 items of the instruments used are an essay on exponents and logarithms materials. The result of this research show that from the result of the essay test, the rate of achievements level of solving exponents and logarithms problem is about 54,59%, the percentage of completion of question 1a is 97%, question 1b is 79%, question 2a is 49%, question 2b is 41%, question 3a is 86%, question 3b is 55%, question 4 is 90%, question 5 is 53%, question 6 is 17%, question 7 is 74%, question 8 is 25%, and question 9 is 33%. The absorption percentage of students in exponents and logarithms materials is about 15,625%. Types of mistake that found on class X Mathematics and Natural Science (MIA) 2 Senior High School 1 Depok in solving Exponents and Logarithms problem are, 1) change the negative exponential form to the positive exponential form, 2) change the root form into the sum of the roots, 3) change the fraction exponential form into a root form and determine the result, 4) algebraic operations of root form, 5) rationalize the denominator of a fraction of root form, and 6) simplify the logarithms

Determination of Ethylene (A. MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCE)

    Get PDF
A mixed solution of silver nitrate and mercuric acetate absorbs ethylene most rapidly. The concentration of silver nitrate governs the rate of absorption of ethylene and the concentration of mercuric acetate controls the irreversibility of absorption of ethylene. For the determination of ethylene, an aqueous solution of 2.5% these salts is enough satisfactory

This study was to determine the effect of a combination of problem-based learning with team-assisted individualization, problem-based learning with think pair share, and cognitive style on learning outcomes. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design that uses a 2x2 factorial design. The research population was XI Mathematics and Natural Science (MIPA) students in SMAN 1 Kraksaan and XI Mathematics and Natural Science (MIPA) of SMAN 1 Paiton Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia, in 2022/2023. the samples were selected non-randomly, consisting of problem-based learning with team-assisted individualization (control) and PBL-TPS (experimental) groups. In both groups, given cognitive style test. The research instrument was 25 multiple-choice questions. Instrument validation is valid (0.89) and reliable (0.94). Posttest results were analyzed by two-way ANOVA test through SPSS v. 25. The study's results were; 1) There are differences in learning outcomes between problem-based learning with team-assisted individualization groups and problem-based learning with think pair share; 2) There are differences in learning outcomes between groups of cognitive style Field Dependent with cognitive style Field Independent; and 3) There is no interaction between learning models and cognitive styles on learning outcomes

DEVELOPMENT OF PROJECT-BASED WORKSHEET OF PHARMACOGNOSY TO FACILITATE CRITICAL AND CREATIVE THINKING IN BIOLOGY STUDENT

The purpose of this study was to produce project-based worksheet of Pharmacognosy which can facilitate students of Biology Department, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science Unesa to think critically and creatively, and to describe the effectiveness of the worksheet empirically. This study was a developmental research which followed the phases of Analysis, Planning, Design, Development and Implementation. Evaluation and Revision were conducted in each phase. The step carried in this study was analysis of Pharmacognosy course curriculum for undergraduate Biology student in Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Unesa. Planning of form and substance of the worksheet was done in planning phase, draft of worksheet was prepared during design phase, then review and validation of the draft were conducted by education expert and Pharmacognosy expert in the development phase. The worksheet then assigned (implementation) limitedly to Biology students to obtain performance assessment and legibility response.Result of the study was project-based worksheet of Pharmacognosy which stated as feasible theoretically and empirically. Theoretical feasibility was taken from validation assessment of worksheet with 94.60% average percentage and very good interpretation, whereas the empirical feasibility was taken from: a) score of project report assessments which ranged from 43 to 54 (grade ranged from 71.67 to 90.00: critical and creative to very critical and creative); and b) student response with 96.60% average percentage and very good interpretation

Structural Equation Modeling is a statistical technique that is able to analyze the pattern of simultan linear relationships between indicator variables and latent variables. In this study using structural equation modeling to analyze the relationship between perceived quality, perceived value, perceived bestscore, and customer satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to obtain the result parameter model estimation of structural equation modeling using maximum likelihood method and to obtain the level of students satisfaction from faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science Hasanuddin University toward Tri operator. Data collected by distributing questionnaire. Collecting sample in this study using Proporsional Random Sampling technique. To measure the level of students satisfaction from faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science Hasanuddin University toward Tri operator, the model chosen is the model used to measure Indonesian Customer Satisfaction Indeks. From the result of this study obtained in the amount of 92,04% with very satisfied criteria level of students satisfaction from faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science Hasanuddin University toward Tri operator with very satisfied criteria

On The Period Determination of ASAS Eclipsing Binaries

Variable stars, or particularly eclipsing binaries, are very essential astronomical occurrence. Surveys are the backbone of astronomy, and many discoveries of variable stars are the results of surveys. All-Sky Automated Survey (ASAS) is one of the observing projects whose ultimate goal is photometric monitoring of variable stars. Since its first light in 1997, ASAS has collected 50,099 variable stars, with 11,076 eclipsing binaries among them. In the present work we focus on the period determination of the eclipsing binaries. Since the number of data points in each ASAS eclipsing binary light curve is sparse, period determination of any system is a not straightforward process. For 30 samples of such systems we compare the implementation of Lomb-Scargle algorithm which is an Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) basis and Phase Dispersion Minimization (PDM) method which is non-FFT basis to determine their period. It is demonstrated that PDM gives better performance at handling eclipsing detached (ED) systems whose variability are non-sinusoidal. More over, using semi-automatic recipes, we get better period solution and satisfactorily improve 53% of the selected object's light curves, but failed against another 7% of selected objects. In addition, we also highlight 4 interesting objects for further investigation.Comment: Presented in International Conferences on Mathematics and Natural Science
