A Descriptive Qualitative Research: Islamic Values in Mandarese Oral Literature (Kalindaqdaq Masaala)
Kalindaqdaq is a famous oral literature in Mandarese Community in West Sulawesi. This research focused on Kalindaqdaq Masala which is themed on religion. Descriptive qualitative approach is used in this research to find out the Islamic Values in Kalindaqdaq Masala. There were 6 data which have been analized. The data showed that the order to perform Shalah in Islam is clearly implied in Kalindaqdaq Masala. The Effect of Garam Masala Levels Addition on Chocolate Based Functional Beverage
The increasing popularity of cocoa-based beverage has encouraged the development of various chocolate beverage formulations. Chocolate beverage formulations with addition of garam masala were carried out to produce functional beverage products which are beneficial to consumers and the product itself. Five different concentration of garam masala (0.01%, 0.02%, 0.03%, 0.04%, and 0.05%) were added into chocolate beverage. Preference test was carried out to evaluate panelistsā preference to each formula. Sensory evaluation was performed by giving an assessment using 7-scaled Likert scale for color, aroma, taste, warm sensation (after taste), and overall product. The results showed that the concentration of garam masala addition has an effect (pā¤0.10) on the attributes of aroma, warm sensation, and overall product. The most preferred chocolate beverage was with the addition of 0.03% garam masala. Higher concentration of garam masala in chocolate based beverage resulted a higher antioxidant activity as well as phenolic content, as antioxidant component.
Making a Masala Modern Anglophone Indian Philosophy
'Minds Without Fear' attempts to showcase the intellectual agency of Anglophone Indian philosophers living under coloniality. The bookās thirteen chapters are framed by the acute professional anxiety many of them experienced then, and its rippling effects which continue till today. Like their predecessors, contemporary Indian philosophers worry that colonialism has crippled their intellectual abilities. Authors Nalini Bhushan and Jay Garfield argue that this anxiety is simply a type of āfalse consciousnessā (38)
Pan masala advertisements are surrogate for tobacco products
BACKGROUND: Pan masala is a comparatively recent habit in India and is
marketed with and without tobacco. Advertisements of tobacco products
have been banned in India since 1st May 2004. The advertisements of
plain pan masala, which continue in Indian media, have been suspected
to be surrogate for tobacco products bearing the same name. The study
was carried out to assess whether these advertisements were for the
intended product, or for tobacco products with same brand name.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The programme of a popular television Hindi news
channel was watched for a 24-h period. Programmes on the same channel
and its English counterpart were watched on different days to assess
whether the advertisements were repeated. The total duration of
telecast of a popular brand of plain pan masala (Pan Parag) was
multiplied by the rate charged by the channel to provide the cost of
advertisement of this product. The total sale value of the company was
multiplied by the proportion of usage of plain pan masala out of gutka
plus pan masala habit as observed from a different study, to provide
the annual sale value of plain pan masala product under reference.
RESULTS: The annual sale value of plain Pan Parag was estimated to be
Rs. 67.1 million. The annual cost of the advertisement of the same
product on two television channels was estimated at Rs. 244.6 million.
CONCLUSION: The advertisements of plain pan masala seen on Indian
television are a surrogate for the tobacco products bearing the same
name
Moving Multimedia Simulations into the Cloud: a Cost-Effective Solution
Researchers often demand bursts of computing power to quickly obtain the results of certain simulation activities. Multimedia communication simulations usually belong to such category. They may require several days on a generic PC to test a comprehensive set of conditions depending on the complexity of the scenario. This paper proposes to use a cloud computing framework to accelerate these simulations and, consequently, research activities, while at the same time reducing the overall costs. A practical simulation example is shown, representative of a typical simulation of H.264/AVC video communications over a wireless channel. This work shows that, by means of a commercial cloud computing provider, the gains of the proposed technique compared to more traditional solutions using dedicated computers can be significant in terms of speed and cost reductio
