Creating a competitive advantage in the global flight catering supply chain: a case study using SCOR model
Flight catering is a complex food service industry that caters to a wide range of airlines. Meals provided to passengers are a measure of in-flight service on an airplane. In the case of the airline industry, flight catering companies are responsible for preparing the meal that flight crews serve it at a voyaging altitude. This case study examines Emirates Kitchen Flight Catering (EKFC), a jointly owned entity of Dubai Civil Aviation (10%) and the Emirates Group (90%). Based on existing literature, international archival reports, company publications and participant observations of EKFC, the paper examines how EKFC reached the top of the catering supply chain by offering the best-in-class quality services and food to its passengers. The paper addresses the persistent growth of EKFC\u27s operations and investigates relevant strategies that reinforce EKFC\u27s fundamental competencies through the application of Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) framework. Offering a combination of on-board excellence, quality, and fresh and delicious food while controlling costs across the supply chain is an important differentiator of EKFC\u27s flight catering business, thereby setting a benchmark for other businesses
Evaluating the sustainability dimensions in the food supply chain: Literature review and research routes
none3noNowadays, the world is facing numerous sustainability challenges and the modern food system is called to innovate processes or products in order to remain competitive within the market, as well as answering to strategic government guidelines for a more sustainable food supply chain. This study aims to investigate what the main research routes of a sustainable food supply chain are, explored by the international scientific panorama, with a view for providing companies with a framework of the sustainability paths that can be followed, and, to researchers, gaps and future research routes to explore. A systematic review method is adopted through bibliometric analysis and results were obtained with VOSViewer software support. How Blockchain Facilitates the Transition toward Circular Economy in the Food Chain?
Food loss and waste are two of the many problems that modern society is facing. To date, among many solutions, the circular economy is the one prevailing. A successful transition toward a circular economy (CE) requires the food sector to overcome the challenges of today's complex food supply chains such as information asymmetry, poor cooperation among stakeholders, and concerns about food safety. Blockchain, a form of distributed ledger technology, has been progressively gaining traction in supply chains in areas like data management, certifying product provenance and tracking products. Despite its importance, knowledge around the potential of the blockchain technology in facilitating the transition towards a circular economy in the agri-food sector is fragmented. This review provides evidence-based insights into the blockchain implementations in the food supply chains and the implications for CE. Our findings indicated four major areas that blockchain could accelerate CE in the agri-food sector: improving data utility; supply chain management efficacy; enhanced eco-efficiency; and superior traceability
Process improvement in reverse logistics and reduction of collection requests at L'Oréal Portugal
The importance of reverse logistics has increased in recent years as it directly impacts company’s
financial results. The increase of product options has generated high returns, which leads to
investment and development of reverse logistics processes.
The Professional Products Division of L’Oréal Portugal is no exception and it is their interest
improve processes in order to increase customer satisfaction, one of the biggest focus of this
multinational.
The Lean philosophy is in this case study the chosen solution to improve the reverse logistics
processes of the company L’Oréal. The main purpose is to reduce collection requests and, thus,
increase the efficiency of the reverse logistics process. A theoretical framework is developed with the
purpose of supporting research.
In this process there are several reasons underlying the requests for collection, however, there
is a higher focus on requests for collection of damaged products and requests for collection of
discontinued products as they are the only ones that allow intervention. As such, proposals for
improvement will focus on improving the delivery process in order to reduce the delivery of damaged
products and, thus, reduce collection requests and make the collection process more efficient since
there are fewer orders to process and handle.
After present the opportunities for improvement in the delivery and collection processes, the
proposals are presented. Its viability was analysed, and the proposals were successfully implemented.
serem menos ordens a processar e tratar.
Após apresentar as oportunidades de melhoria de ambos os processos de entrega e recolha,
as propostas de melhoria foram apresentadas. A sua viabilidade foi analisada e as propostas foram
implementadas com sucesso
Biopsychosocial Assessment and Ergonomics Intervention for Sustainable Living: A Case Study on Flats
This study proposes an ergonomics-based approach for those who are living in small housings (known as flats) in Indonesia. With regard to human capability and limitation, this research shows how the basic needs of human beings are captured and analyzed, followed by proposed designs of facilities and standard living in small housings. Ninety samples were involved during the study through in- depth interview and face-to-face questionnaire. The results show that there were some proposed of modification of critical facilities (such as multifunction ironing work station, bed furniture, and clothesline) and validated through usability testing. Overall, it is hoped that the proposed designs will support biopsychosocial needs and sustainability
The impact of perceived value on customer loyalty towards private commercial banks in Bangladesh: the mediating role of customer satisfaction
The primary objective of this study is to examine the influence of multidimensional perceived
value on customer loyalty through the mediating role of customer satisfaction towards the
private commercial banks in Bangladesh. Using a convenient sampling technique, 367
responses were valid for being used to the final analysis. SPSS and AMOS statistical software
packages were used to analyse the data for validation. The findings revealed that there is a
significant positive influence of perceived value on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Moreover, customer satisfaction not only positively influenced customer loyalty but also
partially mediated the impact of perceived value on customer loyalty. The findings of this study
will be of a great deal of importance for managers to develop a sustainable customer-centric
marketing strategy. Similarly, it would also be a pressing contribution to the literature and assist
researchers in carrying out future research endeavours

Digitalization in food supply chains: A bibliometric review and key-route main path analysis
Technological advances such as blockchain, artificial intelligence, big data, social media, and geographic information systems represent a building block of the digital transformation that supports the resilience of the food supply chain (FSC) and increases its efficiency. This paper reviews the literature surrounding digitalization in FSCs. A bibliometric and key-route main path analysis was carried out to objectively and analytically uncover the knowledge development in digitalization within the context of sustainable FSCs. The research began with the selection of 2140 articles published over nearly five decades. Then, the articles were examined according to several bibliometric metrics such as year of publication, countries, institutions, sources, authors, and keywords frequency. A keyword co-occurrence network was generated to cluster the relevant literature. Findings of the review and bibliometric analysis indicate that research at the intersection of technology and the FSC has gained substantial interest from scholars. On the basis of keyword co-occurrence network, the literature is focused on the role of information communication technology for agriculture and food security, food waste and circular economy, and the merge of the Internet of Things and blockchain in the FSC. The analysis of the key-route main path uncovers three critical periods marking the development of technology-enabled FSCs. The study offers scholars a better understanding of digitalization within the agri-food industry and the current knowledge gaps for future research. Practitioners may find the review useful to remain ahead of the latest discussions of technologyenabled FSCs. To the authors’ best knowledge, the current study is one of the few endeavors to explore technology-enabled FSCs using a comprehensive sample of journal articles published during the past five decades
