However, this vast amount of information and hidden knowledge implicit in all of this data could be utilized more efficiently. With the help of data mining techniques unknown relationships can be systematically discovered. The production of semiconductors is a highly complex process, which entails several subprocesses that employ a diverse array of equipment. The size of the semiconductors signifies a high number of units can be produced, which require huge amounts of data in order to be able to control and improve the semiconductor manufacturing process. Therefore, in this paper a structured review is made through a sample of 137 papers of the published articles in the scientific community regarding data mining applications in semiconductor manufacturing. A detailed bibliometric analysis is also made. All data mining applications are classified in function of the application area. The results are then analyzed and conclusions are drawn.publishersversionpublishe

Summary of flat-plate solar array project documentation: Abstracts of published documents, 1975-1986, revision 1

Abstracts of final reports, or the latest quarterly or annual, of the Flat-Plate Solar Array (FSA) Project Contractor of Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in-house activities are presented. Also presented is a list of proceedings and publications, by author, of work connected with the project. The aim of the program has been to stimulate the development of technology that will enable the private sector to manufacture and widely use photovoltaic systems for the generation of electricity in residential, commercial, industrial, and Government applications at a cost per watt that is competitive with utility generated power. FSA Project activities have included the sponsoring of research and development efforts in silicon refinement processes, advanced silicon sheet growth techniques, higher efficiency solar cells, solar cell/module fabrication processes, encapsulation, module/array engineering and reliability, and economic analyses

Advanced Process Monitoring for Industry 4.0

    Get PDF
This book reports recent advances on Process Monitoring (PM) to cope with the many challenges raised by the new production systems, sensors and “extreme data” conditions that emerged with Industry 4.0. Concepts such as digital-twins and deep learning are brought to the PM arena, pushing forward the capabilities of existing methodologies to handle more complex scenarios. The evolution of classical paradigms such as Latent Variable modeling, Six Sigma and FMEA are also covered. Applications span a wide range of domains such as microelectronics, semiconductors, chemicals, materials, agriculture, as well as the monitoring of rotating equipment, combustion systems and membrane separation processes

In a world where innovation and evolution are constant, continuous improvement is essential for any business to prevail. Having this concept present in the minds of all employees and joining the concept of lean (to do more with less) to the logistics processes, one obtains savings of costs and time in the movement of materials in any organization. This trend is even more important in companies dealing with a high diversity of products, which can assume completely different states and forms, and have high inventory turnover. The project developed results from the need for CaetanoBus, S.A. to improve its supply chain. The analyzed processes begin with the reception of the materials in the warehouse, where it was invested in an automatic labeling process to check and label the materials that need to be received. Further, there is the need of supply the production/assembly line. In this regard, a new kanban supply system was implemented, due to the specificity of some materials. A redesign of a pick-up truck was also carried out due to the renovation of the materials needed for the buses’ construction, and a line-side supermarket was also implemented in the company's new production line of electric chassis. As a parallel project, the layout of the tooling and treatment of all necessary steps to make the project feasible was also dealt with. Due to the limited time of the internship and the numerous changes that can be made in companies of this nature, proposals for improving the analyzed processes are still presented, so that the intention of continuous improvement is not lost
