    S-Net for multi-memory multicores

It builds on the concept of stream processing to structure dynamically evolving networks of communicating asynchronous components. Components themselves are implemented using a conventional language suitable for the application domain. This two-level software architecture maintains a familiar sequential development environment for large parts of an application and offers a high-level declarative approach to component coordination. In this paper we present a conservative language extension for the placement of components and component networks in a multi-memory environment, i.e. architectures that associate individual compute cores or groups thereof with private memories. We describe a novel distributed runtime system layer that complements our existing multithreaded runtime system for shared memory multicores.     Transactive Knowledge Systems, Shared Leadership Style, and Team Effectiveness

    This dissertation examines relationships between transactive memory and transactive knowledge systems, shared leadership style, and team effectiveness. Transactive memory as mediator, perspective-taking and motivation as moderators, and temporal development of transactive memory are also examined. Two studies tested an IMOI model of relationships in a longitudinal field study of students in teams and in an on-line cross-sectional sample of working adults in the United States. Study 1 and 2 provided support for shared leadership style as predictive of transactive memory, and for shared leadership style and transactive memory as predictive of team effectiveness. Both studies support transactive memory and transactive knowledge systems as mediating the relationship between shared leadership style and team effectiveness. No support emerged for perspective-taking or motivation as moderators or for situational factors influencing transactive knowledge systems over time. Findings indicate that situational factors influence emergent team cognitive structures, such as transactive memory, consequently influencing team effectiveness outcomes.     There are no ``unknown quantum states.'' It's a contradiction in terms. Moreover, Alice and Bob are only inanimate objects. They know nothing. What is teleported instantaneously from one system (Alice) to another system (Bob) is the applicability of the preparer's knowledge to the state of a particular qubit in these systems. The operation necessitates dual classical and quantum channels. Other examples of dual transmission, including ``unspeakable information,'' will be presented and discussed.     In the spatial planning domain decision-making processes are carried out in knowledge intensive environments and aim at developing spatial plans as sort of future scenarios containing strategic prescriptions. These scenarios evolve along the decision making process and together with the emerging and evolving cognitive context. Consequently, tracking the assumptions, values, experiences, conversations, and decisions as they evolve along time, is relevant for decision making and enables better informed reflection for the plan development. In order to take into account the temporal dimension of knowledge in plan generation, and not only in the plan itself, we designed MESS, a MEmory Support System able to sustain a dynamic representation of the memory of the organizational field of intervention.     AWARENESS AND ADOPTION OF INTELLIGENT RAILWAY TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN ZIMBABWE

    The study seeks to investigate the awareness and adoption of modern technologies which are collectively called (IRTS) Intelligent Railway Transport Systems by the NRZ (National railways of Zimbabwe) of Zimbabwe. Adoption of these technologies are on an increasing trend in developed and developing countries, installation and implementation of a railway system called RailTracker in Tanzania has improved railway services in that country, in Uganda and Kenya the Rift Valley Railway (RVR) has introduced GPS technology to track trains. In India a system is used to detect defects in rolling stock while they are on the run. Where these systems have been implemented, they have significantly improved the efficiency, safety and quality of service of railway operations. In Zimbabwe the rail network is an important transport infrastructure enabling movement of goods and passengers. Primary research was carried out using questionnaires and semi structured interviews, data was collected from 67 participants comprising Engineers, Technicians, Train Drivers and Station Managers. 98% of the technical participants indicated that they were aware of IRTS however the adoption of the systems by the NRZ is at 0%. 100% of the Managers indicated that they were aware of IRTS and the company is willing to adopt them but currently no system has been installed Secondary research was conducted to identify and study similar projects elsewhere, their success as well as the difficulties encountered during their implementation.
