Purpose of the article: Effective communication in an organization is one of the preconditions of its operation. The aim of the article is to point out the communication process in the complaints management, to emphasize importance of the communication in the business practice and the current state analyze of the communication in Slovak business subjects. The paper presents the partial results and conclusions of research carried out. Methodology/methods: The methodology of this study is based on the scientific methods of acquiring and processing data – observation, questionnaire, interview, qualitative methods (analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, abstraction, etc.); quantitative methods (descriptive statistics such as frequency analysis, statistical analysis, confidence intervals) and graphical methods. Scientific aim: The scientific aim of the article is to prove the established differences between business subjects that are the result of systematic influence (for example quality management system, subject of business, duration of action in the market). Findings: The research results have revealed the strengths of business subjects and revealed the areas which need to be improved. In the first place, they should become aware of the fact that the communication process necessarily forms the part of the complaints management and is well founded. The positive effect also has implementation of the existing ISO 9000 series of standards into business practice, which was reflected in a higher level of complaints management. Conclusions: Following the knowledge of communication process and its functioning plus awareness of communication obstacles, it is possible to improve the effectiveness and the result of communication and by that affect the overall result of claim procedure. Therefore, communication can be considered as very significant element in the process of complaints and claims handling

Knowledge management: the issue of multimedia contents

Knowledge Management is a very important topic in business and in academy research. There are many fields of applications for knowledge management, including cognitive science, sociology, management science, information science, knowledge engineering, artificial intelligence, and economics. Many studies on different aspects of Knowledge Management have been published, becoming common in the early 1990s. In this work, we want to represent Knowledge through a mixed-iterative approach, where top-down and bottom-up analyses of the knowledge domain which has to be represented are applied: these are typical approaches for this kind of problems. In this case, they are applied following an iterative approach which allows, through further refinements, for the efficient formalization able to represent the domain's knowledge of interest. We start from the concept of the “domain knowledge base”. The fundamental body of knowledge available on a domain is the knowledge valuable for the knowledge users. We need to represent and manage this knowledge, to define a formalization and codification of the knowledge in the domain. After this formalization we can manage this knowledge using knowledge repositories. In this thesis, we present four different formalization and management of knowledge for multimedia contents, using our proposed approach: 1. User Generated Contents from famous platform (Flickr, YouTube, etc.); 2. audio recordings regarding linguistic corpus and information added to that corpus with annotations; 3. knowledge associated with construction processes; 4. descriptions and reviews of Italian wines. The most important result we achieved with this thesis was the opportunity to make this disparaged knowledge available and manageable. In the current market, exploiting existing knowledge is a mainstream business, but in order to exploit it, one must be able to manage it first. As a token of this importance, not only about ten scientific publications, but most of all a number of industrial research projects, in partnership with ICT companies – one of which with a total value above one million Euros – stemmed from the studies discussed in this thesis

Game jams as valuable tools for the development of 21st-century skills

The concept of 21st-century skills refers to the knowledge, skills, and emotions that are critical to successfully navigating today’s world. Game jams can act as spaces to develop these skills and thus boost cooperative learning, problem-based learning, or co-creation. Additionally, game jams offer opportunities to improve collaboration and creativity skills, among others. This paper summarizes three years of activities designing and studying game jams to develop 21st-century skills, focused on Mexican students aged 12–16 years old. Data were compiled through direct observation, open-ended questionnaires, and interviews and were subject to thematic analysis in order to construct new knowledge on a previously underexplored topic. The results suggest that game jams are valuable tools to develop 21st-century skills, and, although the outcomes of skill evaluation may vary and may be difficult to verify, the participants reported increased skills, such as creativity or collaboration. Finally, this paper provides recommendations based on the research and practice conducted by the authors on how to use game jams to develop 21st-century skills and different ways to organize game jams, along with the resources neededPeer ReviewedPostprint (published version

A Comprehensive Bibliometric Analysis on Social Network Anonymization: Current Approaches and Future Directions

In recent decades, social network anonymization has become a crucial research field due to its pivotal role in preserving users' privacy. However, the high diversity of approaches introduced in relevant studies poses a challenge to gaining a profound understanding of the field. In response to this, the current study presents an exhaustive and well-structured bibliometric analysis of the social network anonymization field. To begin our research, related studies from the period of 2007-2022 were collected from the Scopus Database then pre-processed. Following this, the VOSviewer was used to visualize the network of authors' keywords. Subsequently, extensive statistical and network analyses were performed to identify the most prominent keywords and trending topics. Additionally, the application of co-word analysis through SciMAT and the Alluvial diagram allowed us to explore the themes of social network anonymization and scrutinize their evolution over time. These analyses culminated in an innovative taxonomy of the existing approaches and anticipation of potential trends in this domain. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric analysis in the social network anonymization field, which offers a deeper understanding of the current state and an insightful roadmap for future research in this domain.Comment: 73 pages, 28 figure

A benefit-oriented framework for the decision-making process on the application of KMS in SME

The result of the presented PhD project is an artifact providing the SME practitioner with the KinS conceptual framework including method support. Therefore concepts from KM and KMS are newly combined and validated applying the perceived benefit approach of the KMS Success Model. The KinS framework uses the demand for support as the starting point for the perceived benefit and analyzes it with regard to the support opportunities by knowledge services. With the help of the framework, the gap in the knowledge base can be addressed and benefit-orientation in the KMS support can be provided

Agroecological Transitions: From Theory to Practice in Local Participatory Design

    Get PDF
This Open Access book presents feedback from the ‘Territorial Agroecological Transition in Action’- TATA-BOX research project, which was devoted to these specific issues. The multidisciplinary and multi-organisation research team steered a four-year action-research process in two territories of France. It also presents: i) the key dimensions to be considered when dealing with agroecological transition: diversity of agriculture models, management of uncertainties, polycentric governance, autonomies, and role of actors’ networks; ii) an operational and original participatory process and associated boundary tools to support local stakeholders in shifting from a shared diagnosis to a shared action plan for transition, and in so doing developing mutual understanding and involvement; iii) an analysis of the main effects of the methodology on research organisation and on stakeholders’ development and application; iv) critical analysis and foresights on the main outcomes of TATA-BOX, provided by external researchers
