Partial Correctness of a Power Algorithm
This work continues a formal verification of algorithms written in terms of simple-named complex-valued nominative data [6],[8],[15],[11],[12],[13]. In this paper we present a formalization in the Mizar system [3],[1] of the partial correctness of the algorithm: i := val.1 j := val.2 b := val.3 n := val.4 s := val.5 while (i n) i := i + j s := s * b return s computing the natural n power of given complex number b, where variables i, b, n, s are located as values of a V-valued Function, loc, as: loc/.1 = i, loc/.3 = b, loc/.4 = n and loc/.5 = s, and the constant 1 is located in the location loc/.2 = j (set V represents simple names of considered nominative data [17]).The validity of the algorithm is presented in terms of semantic Floyd-Hoare triples over such data [9]. A Practical Procedure to Integrate the First 1:500 Urban Map of Valencia into a Tile-Based Geospatial Information System
[EN] The use of geographic data from early maps is a common approach to understanding urban geography as well as to study the evolution of cities over time. The specific goal of this paper is to provide a means for the integration of the first 1:500 urban map of the city of Valencia (Spain) on a tile-based geospatial system. We developed a workflow consisting of three stages: the digitization of the original 421 map sheets, the transformation to the European Terrestrial Reference System of 1989 (ETRS89), and the conversion to a tile-based file format, where the second stage is clearly the most mathematically involved. The second stage actually consists of two steps, one transformation from the pixel reference system to the 1929 local reference system followed by a second transformation from the 1929 local to the ETRS89 system. The last stage comprises a map reprojection to adapt to tile-based geospatial standards. The paper describes a pilot study of one map sheet and results showed that the affine and bilinear transformations performed well in both transformations with average residuals under 6 and 3 cm respectively. Information systems and healthcare XXIV: Factors affecting the EAI adoption in the healthcare sector
Recent developments in the field of integration technologies like Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) have emerged to support organizations towards improving the quality of services and reducing integration costs. Despite the importance of EAI, there is limited empirical research reported on its adoption in the healthcare sector. Khoumbati et al. [2006] developed a model for the evaluation of EAI in healthcare organizations. In doing so, the causal interrelationship of EAI adoption factors was identified by using fuzzy cognitive mapping. This paper is a progression of previous work in the area and seeks to contribute by validating the model through a different case environment. Thus, this paper contributes by deriving and proposing the MAESTRO model for EAI adoption. MAESTRO identifies a set of factors that influence EAI adoption and it is evaluated through a real-life case study. It provides an understanding of the EAI adoption process through its grounding on empirical data. In doing so, the MAESTRO model supports the management of healthcare organizations during the decision-making process for EAI adoption

Improved interoperability between public and private organizations is of key
significance to make digital government newest triumphant. Digital Government
interoperability, information sharing protocol and security are measured the
key issue for achieving a refined stage of digital government. Flawless
interoperability is essential to share the information between diverse and
merely dispersed organisations in several network environments by using
computer based tools. Digital government must ensure security for its
information systems, including computers and networks for providing better
service to the citizens. Governments around the world are increasingly
revolving to information sharing and integration for solving problems in
programs and policy areas. Evils of global worry such as syndrome discovery and

Transcritical Carbon Dioxide Charge-Discharge Energy Storage with Integration of Solar Energy
New and improved energy storage technologies are required to overcome
non-dispatchability, which is the main challenge for the successful integration of large
shares of renewable energy within energy supply systems. Energy storage is proposed to
tackle daily variations on the demand side, i.e., storing low-price energy during off-peak
or valley periods for utilization during peak periods. Regarding electrical energy storage,
several technologies are available with different potentials for scalability, density, and
cost. A recent approach for grid-scale applications is based on transcritical carbon
dioxide charge and discharge cycles in combination with thermal energy storage systems.
This alternative to pumped-hydro and compressed air energy storage has been discussed
in scientific literature, where different configurations have been proposed and their
efficiency and costs calculated. The potential of the concept has been demonstrated to be
an economical alternative, including hybrid concepts with solar thermal storage. Even at
low temperatures, the addition of solar energy has proved to be cost effective. This paper
explores the effect of introducing solar-based high temperature heat on the performance
of different configurations of âTranscritical carbon dioxide â thermal energy storage
systemâ cycles. A base-cycle with 8-hour discharge time is compared with different
layouts. Discussions include details on the models, parametric analyses -including solar
technology alternatives-, and simulation results. Round trip efficiency of the base case,
without solar support and at pressure ratio of 9.4, is 52%. When solar input is considered,
the efficiency is above 60%, increasing the turbine inlet temperature to 950 K. Estimated
levelized cost of electricity values are in the range of pumped hydro and compressed air
energy storage, 90-140 USD/MWh in agreement with other works on this thermal storage
technology. The global analysis shows clear advantages for advancing in the study and
definition of this technology for exploitation of synergies at different power ranges,
integrated with mid/high temperature solar power plants and with smaller-scale

IT integration, operations flexibility and performance: an empirical study
Purpose: This study examines the relationship between IT implementation and performance
with manufacturing flexibility based on a sample drawn from a set of manufacturing firms.
Design/methodology/approach: The relationships were analyzed using structural equations
modelling (SEM) using EQS 6.2 software. Previously, an explanatory factor analysis confirmed
one-dimensionality of the scales, Cronbachâs alpha was calculated to evaluate its internal
consistency and a confirmatory factor analysis was run to observe scalesâ validity.
Findings: This research proves a significant positive and direct effect of IT implementation on
operations performance with 4 out of 6 flexibility dimensions (Machine, Labour, Material
handling and Volume). Mix and Routing flexibility dimensions show no significant impact on
firm performance.
Research limitations/implications: It is necessary to be cautious when generalizing this
findings these findings, as service firms were not part of the sample even when statistical results
prove robustness suggesting that the findings are quite reliable. Some flexibility dimensions show
no significant impact in performance (Routing and Mix flexibility). This is consistent with the fact
that these flexibility dimensions act as variability absorbers within the manufacturing process.
Future research lines: Future studies can focus on determining further internal and
environmental factors that affect operations flexibility according to specific sector characteristics.
Originality/value: This research proves a significant positive and direct effect of IT
implementation on operations performance. Results show not only the links between IT
implementation and operations performance, but also the magnitude of every impact. The model
considers IT integration as the degree of alignment that existing technology resources in a firm
