Recently, there has been a significant increase in the use of social media, especially among the new generation of users. In parallel with this increase, social media platforms have highlighted the concept of social commerce - an extension of e-commerce - and put it on the current agenda. In social commerce, social media platforms are used to share, create, and request product information, perceptions, and views, with customers also making purchases.   The social commerce intention of the new generation via social media platforms is the focus of this study. This study investigates the social commerce intention of students at a public university in Yalova, Turkey, to purchase products via Instagram and the factors that affect this intention. 296 students participated in the study. Findings suggest that the price and reputation of social commerce vendors positively affect user trust. Also, habit, perceived ease of use, and hedonic motivation also positively affect social commerce intention. Trust in the social vendor positively affects social commerce intention. Other hypotheses are rejected. This study contributes to the literature by analysing the role of different factors in social commerce intention

Australian local governments and the early national broadband network roll-out: an online survey

    Get PDF
A recent decision by the Australian Federal Government to reassess the scale of the National Broadband Network (NBN) will leave the country with a patchwork of different levels of access to the infrastructure. This intensifies the need to investigate and evaluate the implications of telecommunication at the local level. The paper opens a discussion on the different approaches taken by local government authorities towards the NBN in the early roll-out localities. Building upon the international literature, it analyses the empirical data collected from the Australian local governments involved with the early NBN roll-out using an online survey. The findings reveal an interesting diversity in the approaches taken at the local level, and show how decision-making at higher levels of government can impact local outcomes

Many academic decision makers rely on quantified ranking measures to estimate the quality of journal publications. The aim of this study was to map journals in Information Systems (IS) with regard to their topic and their rank and determine whether there is a relationship between the scope of a journal and its rank. The study used content analysis, applying both qualitative and quantitative methods. The results of the analysis show the existence of relationships between the journal rank, the research area, and the type as well as significant differences in ranking on the three lists. The findings illustrate that ranking measures, as indicators for the quality of research published in a journal ought to be considered only in the context of a particular research area and scientific community

Various review studies on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) have provided recent insights into research trends, especially regarding e-commerce adoption. However, this study highlights the knowledge gap in TAM investigations related to e-commerce adoption in the context of small and medium enterprises (SME). Through a systematic review of 28 research articles from 2018 to 2023, the main findings show that TAM research tends to focus on developing models with external variables, especially factors from other theories or models. The main issue that is often discussed is the acceptance of e-commerce at the micro-industry scale, with surveys as the dominant research method. This study provides valuable insights and becomes an important reference for academics, professionals, and business people interested in e-commerce adoption in SMEs, highlighting key trends and issues that need further research. The adoption of e-commerce applies to all business sectors. Ecommerce is considered capable of expanding market reach, improving operational efficiency, and spurring business growth with the potential of the digital market. However, the adoption of e-commerce on a small business scale, known as SME, still needs to be studied further. Here, we conducted a literature study on 28 articles selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria to find out what factors have the most influence on e-commerce adoption in SMEs. We found that e-commerce adoption with TAM focuses on model development based on external variables, especially factors from other theories or models. The main issue that is often discussed regarding e-commerce acceptance is at the micro-industry scale, with the survey method being the most widely used research method. Then we also found the main factors that are most widely found based on the distribution of researchers. These findings are expected to be used in future studies that examine e-commerce adoption with TAM in SMEs.
