The main goal of this thesis was to analyze routing functionality of MiWi Pro network. I needed to find a way to get statistical data from network items for purpose of analysis and develop faster mechanism to reload routing rules after replacing part of the network. Gathering of statistical data required design and implementation of protocol needed to exchange information between coordinators inside the network. I developed an algorithm which reloads routing rules after replacing part of network and allows to test individual network items outside of their final location in the network.

Aging has become a worldwide problem. Intelligent home care is the current stage of the more innovative ways of providing for the aged. Objective and impartial evaluation of the quality of care services for the elderly has an important significance to improve the pension system, this paper attempts to build a intelligent home care service quality model. On the basis of the SERVQUAL model, this paper, from the five dimensions of reliability, ease of use, visibility, responsiveness and empathy, the development of intelligent home care service quality scale. The exploratory factor analysis of the scale of the reliability and validity of internal consistency reliability analysis, test results show that the dimensions of the wisdom of home-based care services quality is reasonable, all items through the validity test. In order to improve the security of home residence, this paper studies and designs an intelligent home security alarm system, using STC89C51 single chip microcomputer as the main controller of the security system, and real-time monitoring by controlling the human pyroelectric infrared sensor and smoke sensor in the case of strangers invading the security range and showing signs of fire. Once the abnormal situation is found, the intelligent home security alarm system will start the acousto-optic alarm prompted by the LED lamp and pass through the information processing system of the GSM module. Send an abnormal text message to the user of the security system at the first time face, and finally realize the purpose of modern intelligent home security alarm

NILM techniques for intelligent home energy management and ambient assisted living: a review

    Get PDF
The ongoing deployment of smart meters and different commercial devices has made electricity disaggregation feasible in buildings and households, based on a single measure of the current and, sometimes, of the voltage. Energy disaggregation is intended to separate the total power consumption into specific appliance loads, which can be achieved by applying Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) techniques with a minimum invasion of privacy. NILM techniques are becoming more and more widespread in recent years, as a consequence of the interest companies and consumers have in efficient energy consumption and management. This work presents a detailed review of NILM methods, focusing particularly on recent proposals and their applications, particularly in the areas of Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) and Ambient Assisted Living (AAL), where the ability to determine the on/off status of certain devices can provide key information for making further decisions. As well as complementing previous reviews on the NILM field and providing a discussion of the applications of NILM in HEMS and AAL, this paper provides guidelines for future research in these topics.Agência financiadora: Programa Operacional Portugal 2020 and Programa Operacional Regional do Algarve 01/SAICT/2018/39578 Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia through IDMEC, under LAETA: SFRH/BSAB/142998/2018 SFRH/BSAB/142997/2018 UID/EMS/50022/2019 Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La-Mancha, Spain: SBPLY/17/180501/000392 Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness (SOC-PLC project): TEC2015-64835-C3-2-R MINECO/FEDERinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

This thesis covers design and implementation of an application with a graphic user interface emulating the behaviour of end stations for intelligent home. These devices are used for measuring physical quantities and controlling switches. The application is implemented in C++ using Qt Framework. The final product is an application which provides a simple way of testing in a friendly user interface. The main benefit is in enabling a parallel developement of the server application and the developement of the hardware end station devices.

Safety and security of remote monitoring and control of intelligent home environments

Intelligent home environments are one of the major application areas of pervasive computing. Safety and security are two most important issues in the remote monitoring and control of intelligent home environments. This article takes safety and security into consideration together and proposes a phone-out-only policy for ensuring security and virtual home environments for safety. A remote monitoring and control system for a security camera is used to illustrate the new methodologies for safety and security. By using the demonstration system people are able to easily monitor and control a security camera, central heating, microwave oven and washer from anywhere by using mobile phones. Our system distinguishes from the existing DTI (Department of Trade and Industry in the UK) next wave technologies and a few of on-going EU projects in the ways of dealing with safety and security and its simplicity. Remote monitoring and control of intelligent home environments can be of great benefits to the working families and holiday makers and has a great commercial potential

Intelligent Home Heating Controller Using Fuzzy Rule Interpolation

The reduction of domestic energy waste helps in achieving the legal binding target in the UK that CO2 emissions needs to be reduced by at least 34% below base year (1990) levels by 2020. Space heating consumes about 60% of the household energy consumption, and it has been reported by the Household Electricity Survey from GOV.UK, that 23% of residents leave the heating on while going out. To minimise the waste of heating unoccupied homes, a number of sensor-based and programmable controllers for central heating system have been developed, which can successfully switch off the home heating systems when a property is unoccupied. However, these systems cannot automatically preheat the homes before occupants return without manual inputs or leaving the heating on unnecessarily for longer time, which has limited the wide application of such devices. In order to address this limitation, this paper proposes a smart home heating controller, which enables a home heating system to efficiently preheat the home by successfully predicting the users’ home time. In particular, residents’ home time is calculated by employing fuzzy rule interpolation, supported by users’ historic and current location data from portable devices (commonly smart mobile phones). The proposed system has been applied to a real-world case with promising results shown
