    Practical Evaluation of Graph Neural Networks in Network Intrusion Detection

    The most recent proposals of Machine and Deep Learning algorithms for Network Intrusion Detection Systems (NIDS) leverage Graph Neural Networks (GNN). These techniques create a graph representation of network traffic and analyze both network topology and netflow features to produce more accurate predictions. Although prior research shows promising results, they are biased by evaluation methodologies that are incompatible with real-world online intrusion detection. We are the first to identify these issues and to evaluate the performance of a state-of-the-art GNN-NIDS under real-world constraints. The experiments demonstrate that the literature overestimates the detection performance of GNN-based NIDS. Our results analyze and discuss the trade-off between detection delay and detection performance for different types of attacks, thus paving the way for the practical deployment of GNN-based NIDS

    Phase-shift Fault Analysis of Grain-128

    Phase-shift fault attack is a type of fault attack used for cryptanalysis of stream ciphers. It involves clocking a cipher’s feedback shift registers out of phase, in order to generate faulted keystream. Grain-128 cipher is a 128-bit modification of the Grain cipher which is one of the finalists in the eSTREAM project. In this work, we propose a phase-shift fault attack against Grain-128 loaded with key-IV pairs that result in an all-zero LFSR after initialisation. We frame equations in terms of the input and output bits of the cipher and solve them using a SAT solver. By correctly guessing 40 innerstate bits, we are able to recover the entire 128-bit key with just 2 phase-shift faults for keystreams of length 200 bits

    Factors Influencing Customer Satisfaction towards E-shopping in Malaysia

    Online shopping or e-shopping has changed the world of business and quite a few people have decided to work with these features. What their primary concerns precisely and the responses from the globalisation are the competency of incorporation while doing their businesses. E-shopping has also increased substantially in Malaysia in recent years. The rapid increase in the e-commerce industry in Malaysia has created the demand to emphasize on how to increase customer satisfaction while operating in the e-retailing environment. It is very important that customers are satisfied with the website, or else, they would not return. Therefore, a crucial fact to look into is that companies must ensure that their customers are satisfied with their purchases that are really essential from the ecommerce’s point of view. With is in mind, this study aimed at investigating customer satisfaction towards e-shopping in Malaysia. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed among students randomly selected from various public and private universities located within Klang valley area. Total 369 questionnaires were returned, out of which 341 questionnaires were found usable for further analysis. Finally, SEM was employed to test the hypotheses. This study found that customer satisfaction towards e-shopping in Malaysia is to a great extent influenced by ease of use, trust, design of the website, online security and e-service quality.     Converged Security and Information Management System as a Tool for Smart City Infrastructure Resilience Assessment

    Current research on smart cities is primarily focused on the area of applicability of information and communication technologies. However, in the context of a multidisciplinary approach, it is also necessary to pay attention to the resilience and converged security of individual infrastructures. Converged security represents a particular security type based on a selected spectrum of certain convergent security types of, assuming the creation of a complementary whole. Considering the outputs of the analysis of security breaches manifestations, this kind of security makes it possible to detect emerging security breaches earlier (still in the symptom stage), thus providing a more efficient and targeted solution suitable for building smart city infrastructure. In its essence, the article refers to the practical application of the converged security theoretical principles presented in the publication to a functional sample, deployed and tested in practical conditions in context of selected smart city infrastructure protection and resilience. Considering the nature of the practical application, the convergence of a wider spectrum of smart security alarm systems in the resilience assessment context is defined. In the beginning, the general principles of security/safety and the need for their convergence are presented. In this context, the mathematical model called Converged Resilience Assessment (CRA) method is presented for better understanding. Subsequently, Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems are described as a technological concept that can be used for resilience assessment.
