    Analysis on Reading and Writing Section of Test Items in 2009/2010 English National Final Examination (UAN) for Junior High School Students

    ABSTRACT This paper attempts to analyze the test items in the English National Final Examination (UAN) for Junior High School Students in the academic year 2009/2010. This study aims at analyzing the compatibility of the test items of package A in reading and writing section of English National Final Examination for Junior High School Students with the standard of graduate competence and the cognitive domains used in the test. The data were collected by using documentary method, while in analyzing the data the writers focused on matching the compatibility of the test items with the Standard of Graduate Competence and identifying the cognitive domain used. From the analysis, it was found that the test items of package A in reading and writing section of English National Final Examination 2009/2010 were in line with the Standard of Graduate Competence (SKL) arranged by the government. The cognitive domains in reading section mostly used level of comprehension. Through an independent learning program that is well designed and implemented, students' hard and soft skills will be formed strongly.The tight competition in the world of work entering the industrial era requires university graduates to compete by equipping themselves with various skills. The competence of college graduates is one of the determining factors to be able to compete in the world of work. Higher education graduates are mainly required to be up to date with the development of science and technology so that they can become graduates who are ready to use and are competitive. It is undeniable, with the advancement of science and technology, the roles and functions of humans have begun to be replaced by information technology that was created to simplify and accelerate human work. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the competence of college graduates, namely emotional intelligence, learning behavior and academic achievement. Graduate competence refers to the Graduate Competency Standards according to the National Higher Education Standards, namely Attitudes, Knowledge and Skills. The scope of the research is final semester students at the Raflesia Polytechnic with 120 respondents. Data collection techniques using a Likert scale 1-5 questionnaire. The analysis used statistical tests, namely the F test and t test with the help of SPSS. The results showed that simultaneously emotional intelligence, learning behavior and academic achievement had a significant effect on graduate competence, while partially emotional intelligence and academic achievement had a significant effect on graduate competenc

    EFEKTIVITAS SMK MODEL TERHADAP KOMPETENSI LULUSAN DI KABUPATEN BANGKALAN

    Abstract: This study aims to determine whether there is an influence between the effectiveness of the Model Vocational School in Bangkalan Regency. This study uses a quantitative approach with associative methods, consisting of two variables namely school effectiveness (X) and graduate competence (Y). This research was conducted at two schools in Bangkalan, namely Vocational High School 1 Arosbaya and Vocational High School 1 Labang. The respondents in this study were 270 graduates. The sampling technique in this study used nonprobability sampling in the form of purposive sampling. Data collection techniques are primary data in the form of questionnaires using Likert scale, and secondary data in the form of library studies and documentation. Prerequisite test for data analysis used normality and linearity test. The data analysis technique used simple linear regression analysis and T test analysis with the help of SPSS Version 21.0. The results of the data analysis showed a significant influence between school effectiveness and graduate competence by 13%. Indicators that influence aspects of school effectiveness are teaching that has goals while aspects of graduate competence are skills. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode asosiatif, terdiri dari dua variabel yaitu efektivitas sekolah (X) dan kompetensi lulusan (Y). Penelitian ini dilakukan pada dua sekolah se-Kabupaten Bangkalan yaitu SMKN 1 Arosbaya dan SMKN 1 Labang. Sampel dalam penelitian ini yaitu lulusan yang berjumlah sebanyak 270 lulusan. Teknik pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan nonprobability sampling berupa purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu data primer berupa angket dengan menggunakan skala Likert, dan data sekunder berupa studi kepustakaan dan dokumentasi. Uji prasyarat analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas dan linieritas. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis regresi linier sederhana dan analisis uji T dengan bantuan SPSS Versi 21.0. Hasil analisis dari pengolahan data dalam penelitian ini terdapat pengaruh signifikan antara efektivitas sekolah dan kompetensi lulusan sebesar 13%. Indikator yang mempengaruhi dari aspek efektivitas sekolah adalah pengajaran yang memiliki tujuan sedangkan dari aspek kompetensi lulusan yaitu keterampilan.     Assessing Professionalism: A theoretical framework for defining clinical rotation assessment criteria

    Although widely accepted as an important graduate competence, professionalism is a challenging outcome to define and assess. Clinical rotations provide an excellent opportunity to develop student professionalism through the use of experiential learning and effective feedback, but without appropriate theoretical frameworks, clinical teachers may find it difficult to identify appropriate learning outcomes. The adage “I know it when I see it” is unhelpful in providing feedback and guidance for student improvement, and criteria that are more specifically defined would help students direct their own development. This study sought first to identify how clinical faculty in one institution currently assess professionalism, using retrospective analysis of material obtained in undergraduate teaching and faculty development sessions. Subsequently, a faculty workshop was held in which a round-table type discussion sought to develop these ideas and identify how professionalism assessment could be improved. The output of this session was a theoretical framework for teaching and assessing professionalism, providing example assessment criteria and ideas for clinical teaching. This includes categories such as client and colleague interaction, respect and trust, recognition of limitations, and understanding of different professional identities. Each category includes detailed descriptions of the knowledge, skills, and behaviors expected of students in these areas. The criteria were determined by engaging faculty in the development of the framework, and therefore they should represent a focused development of criteria already used to assess professionalism, and not a novel and unfamiliar set of assessment guidelines. The faculty-led nature of this framework is expected to facilitate implementation in clinical teaching

    This paper attempts to analyze the test items in the English National Examination for Junior High School Students in the academic year 2012/2013. This study aims at analyzing the compatibility of English Test Items of National Examination for Junior High School Students with the standard of graduate competence and the cognitive domains used in the test. The data were collected by using documentary method, while in analyzing the data the researcher focused on matching the compatibility of the test items with the Standard of Graduate Competence, English syllabus and identifying the cognitive domain used. From the analysis, it was found that English Test Items of National Examination for Junior High School Students in the academic year 2012/2013 only tested reading and writing competence. All test items are inappropriate with the Standard of Graduate Competence (SKL) and English syllabus, because some materials in reading and writing section are not tested. Listening and speaking competence are also not tested here. The cognitive domains in reading section mostly used are level of understanding. The cognitive domains in writing section used are the applying level. Based on the research findings, some suggestions are provided. First, English Test Items of National Examination should be fully based on Standard of Graduate Competence. Second, reading competencies tested are not balance with writing competencies tested. , it is suggested that National Examination should test the four skills with emphasize on reading and writing, but the number of each skill should be appropriate. Third, for next researcher, it can be the previous study for the next researcher who wants to conduct an analysis this study

    MANAJEMEN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN MUTU PENDIDIKAN DI SMP ISLAM SABILURROSYAD MALANG

    ABSTRAKKepala sekolah SMP Islam Sabilurrosyad mempunyai peran penting dalam mewujudkan visi, misi dan tujuan sekolah. Akan tetapi terdapat beberapa guru yang belum memahami visi misi dan tujuan sekolah, belum linear kualifikasi akademiknya dan belum bisa membuat perangkat pembelajaran. Fokus penelitian ini bagaimana perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di SMP Islam Sabilurrosyad Malang. Metode analisis data menggunakan data reduksi, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah perencanaan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan pada aspek pendidik dan tenaga terdiri dari meningkatkan jumlah tenaga pendidik yang berkualifikasi relevan, meningkatkan kompetensi profesionalitas guru dan  tenaga kependidikan melalui pelatihan. Aspek pengelolaan adalah menjalin kemitraan. Aspek kompetensi lulusan dengan bedah standar kompetensi lulusan pada mapel UN. Pelaksanaan kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan di SMP Islam Sabilurrosyad Malang pada aspek pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan adalah rekrutmen pendidik dilaksanakan setiap tahun ajaran baru, dan mengirimkan guru mengikuti pelatihan dilaksanakan secara berkala. Aspek pengelolaan adalah menjalin kemitraan dilaksanakan setiap tahun. Aspek kompetensi lulusan dengan bedah standar kompetensi lulusan pada mapel UN dilaksanakan setiap semester. Evaluasi kepala sekolah dalam meningkatkan mutu di SMP Islam Sabilurrosyad Malang pada aspek pendidik dan tenaga kependidikan adalah supervisi akademik dan manajerial. Aspek pengelolaan mengelola sistem informasi manajemen. Aspek kompetensi lulusan adalah meningkatkan nilai jumlah kuantitas maupun kualitas kompetensi lulusan. Kata kunci: Manajemen kepala sekolah, mutu pendidikan Abstract The principal of Islamic Junior High School Sabilurrosyad has an important role in realizing the vision, mission and goals.  But, there are some teachers do not understand the vision, mission and goals the school, their academic qualifications have not been linear and have not been able to make learning tools.  The focus of this research is how to plan, implement and evaluate of the principal in improving the quality education at Sabilurrosyad Islamic Junior High School Malang. The data analysis method uses reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing. The conclusion of this study is planning of the principal in improving the quality of education in the aspect educators and personnel consists of increasing the number relevant qualified educators, increasing professional competence teachers and education personnel through training. The management aspect is to build partnerships. Aspects graduate competence with graduate competency standards in the national exam subjects.     Meeting the industrial demand of construction engineering graduate competence

    The aim of this study is to identify the distribution and relevance of graduate competencies in S1 PTSP Department FT UNM to those in the world of work. This research was conducted for a year. The location of this research was conducted in according with the distribution of graduates. Samples amount 28 respondents. The data collected used questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The result shows that the waiting period of graduate majoring in engineering education buildings PTSP FT UNM within the last 3 years (2013-2015) in getting a job was an average of 4.4 months. Then, the relevance of the work with their educational background according to their expertise was 85.72% while 14.28% are not suitable. Furthermore, the level of relevance of graduates’ technical skills in the field of building engineering was at the level of relevant amount 44.48%, and in the field of education at the level of highly relevant amount 55.00% of the number of observed respondents.
