Decision Support Systems (DSS) are a specific class of computerized information system that supports business and organizational decision-making activities. A properly-designed DSS is an interactive software-based system intended to help decision makers compile useful information from raw data, documents, personal knowledge, and/or business models to identify and solve problems and make decisions. DSS belong to an environment with multidisciplinary foundations, including database reasearch, artificial intelligence, human computer interaction, simulation methods, software engineering and telecomunicationdecision support system, decision makers, computer-based

Information Modeling for a Dynamic Representation of an Emergency Situation

In this paper we propose an approach to build a decision support system that can help emergency planners and responders to detect and manage emergency situations. The internal mechanism of the system is independent from the treated application. Therefore, we think the system may be used or adapted easily to different case studies. We focus here on a first step in the decision-support process which concerns the modeling of information issued from the perceived environment and their representation dynamically using a multiagent system. This modeling was applied on the RoboCupRescue Simulation System. An implementation and some results are presented here.Comment:

Managed information gathering and fusion for transient transport problems

This paper deals with vehicular traffic management by communication technologies from Traffic Control Center point of view in road networks. The global goal is to manage the urban traffic by road traffic operations, controlling and interventional possibilities in order to minimize the traffic delays and stops and to improve traffic safety on the roads. This paper focuses on transient transport, when the controlling management is crucial. The aim was to detect the beginning time of the transient traffic on the roads, to gather the most appropriate data and to get reliable information for interventional suggestions. More reliable information can be created by information fusion, several fusion techniques are expounded in this paper. A half-automatic solution with Decision Support System has been developed to help with engineers in suggestions of interventions based on real time traffic data. The information fusion has benefits for Decision Support System: the complementary sensors may fill the gaps of one another, the system is able to detect the changing of the percentage of different vehicle types in traffic. An example of detection and interventional suggestion about transient traffic on transport networks of a little town is presented at the end of the paper. The novelty of this paper is the gathering of information - triggered by the state changing from stationer to transient - from ad hoc channels and combining them with information from developed regular channels. --information gathering, information fusion,Kalman filter, transient traffic,Decision Support System

Spatial analysis, decision support systems (DSS) and land use design: the case-study of antique viability system in San Martino valley (Lombardy, Italy)

This paper concerns the development of a Decision Support System (DSS), which is a system able to support temporal and spatial choices about land use design, in order to project and manage the antique viability system in San Martino valley (located in Lombardy, Italy) The main purpose is providing to a project manager necessary information to help him to understand problems (in particular concerning the spatial system of viability), therefore assists him to analyze the question from different points of view. This process needs a particular informative architecture, based on a complex and relational structured system (DSS) able to produce response for the whole decision process. The DSS is interfaced with a GIS in order to manage cartography and alphanumeric files with geo-referenced data. It works on information which are supposed to be indispensable for the planners of the San Martino valley.

Making the right home selection will become difficult thing if there are a lot of alternatives and criterias to be considered. Therefore, a system that could assist user in decision support for home selection is needed. Index model method is implemented in this decision support system. This system is also created based on Geographical Information System so that the user will be able to see the home location geographically. Conclusion from this discovery is this system able to help property salesperson to search and to show home location and information. This system also support prospective customer to make decision in home selection based on their criterias required. This system is developed to be able to analyze feasibility of choosen location

Evaluation Factors of Clinical Decision Support System in u_Healthcare Service

Automated intelligent, clinical decision support systems generally promote to help or to assist physicians and patients regarding to prevention of diseases or treatment of illnesses using computer represented knowledge and information. In this paper, assessment factors affecting the proper design of clinical decision support system were investigated. The required procedure steps for gathering the data from clinical trial and extracting the information from large volume of healthcare repositories were listed, which are necessary for validation and verification of evidence-based implementation of clinical decision support system. The goal of this paper is to extract useful evaluation factors affecting the quality of the clinical decision support system in the design, development, and implementation of a computer-based decision support system.ope

DScentTrail: A new way of viewing deception

    Get PDF
The DScentTrail System has been created to support and demonstrate research theories in the joint disciplines of computational inference, forensic psychology and expert decision-making in the area of counter-terrorism. DScentTrail is a decision support system, incorporating artificial intelligence, and is intended to be used by investigators. The investigator is presented with a visual representation of a suspect‟s behaviour over time, allowing them to present multiple challenges from which they may prove the suspect guilty outright or receive cognitive or emotional clues of deception. There are links into a neural network, which attempts to identify deceptive behaviour of individuals; the results are fed back into DScentTrail hence giving further enrichment to the information available to the investigator
