    Handwritten Digit Recognition Using Machine Learning Algorithms

    Handwritten character recognition is one of the practically important issues in pattern recognition applications. The applications of digit recognition includes in postal mail sorting, bank check processing, form data entry, etc. The heart of the problem lies within the ability to develop an efficient algorithm that can recognize hand written digits and which is submitted by users by the way of a scanner, tablet, and other digital devices. This paper presents an approach to off-line handwritten digit recognition based on different machine learning technique. The main objective of this paper is to ensure effective and reliable approaches for recognition of handwritten digits. Several machines learning algorithm namely, Multilayer Perceptron, Support Vector Machine, NaFDA5; Bayes, Bayes Net, Random Forest, J48 and Random Tree has been used for the recognition of digits using WEKA. The result of this paper shows that highest 90.37% accuracy has been obtained for Multilayer Perceptron

    Now a day there are many new methodologies required for the increasing needs in newly emerging areas, with this methodologies there are many techniques are present for the character recognition of handprint Devanagri, Bengali, Tamil, China etc. But very little research is for printed material. So in our project we propose the recognition of devnagari printed text using neural network and genetic algorithm. In India, more than 300 million people use Devanagari script for documentation. There has been a significant improvement in the research related to the recognition of printed as well as handwritten Devanagari text in the past few years.. All feature-extraction techniques as well as training, classification and matching techniques useful for the recognition are discussed in various sections of the paper. An attempt is made to address the most important results reported so far and it is also tried to highlight the beneficial directions of the research till date. Moreover, the paper also contains a comprehensive bibliography of many selected papers appeared in reputed journals and conference proceedings as an aid for the researchers working in the field of Devanagari printed text using neural network and genetic algorithm.     How to separate between Machine-Printed/Handwritten and Arabic/Latin Words?

    This paper gathers some contributions to script and its nature identification. Different sets of features have been employed successfully for discriminating between handwritten and machine-printed Arabic and Latin scripts. They include some well established features, previously used in the literature, and new structural features which are intrinsic to Arabic and Latin scripts. The performance of such features is studied towards this paper. We also compared the performance of five classifiers: Bayes (AODEsr), k-Nearest Neighbor (k-NN), Decision Tree (J48), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Multilayer perceptron (MLP) used to identify the script at word level. These classifiers have been chosen enough different to test the feature contributions. Experiments have been conducted with handwritten and machine-printed words, covering a wide range of fonts. Experimental results show the capability of the proposed features to capture differences between scripts and the effectiveness of the three classifiers. An average identification precision and recall rates of 98.72% was achieved, using a set of 58 features and AODEsr classifier, which is slightly better than those reported in similar works

Similarly, the most crucial technologies are text line recognition fields of study and development, with an increasing number of potential outcomes. Handwriting recognition (HWR), also identified as Handwriting Text Acknowledgment, is the capacity of a computer to understand legibly handwritten input from bases such as paper documents, screens, and other devices. Evidently, we have performed handwritten digit recognition using MNIST datasets and SVM, Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), and CNN models in this research. Our primary purpose is to compare the accuracy and execution times of the aforementioned models to determine the optimal model for digit recognition
