Integration of highly probabilistic sources into optical quantum architectures: perpetual quantum computation
In this paper we introduce a design for an optical topological cluster state
computer constructed exclusively from a single quantum component. Unlike
previous efforts we eliminate the need for on demand, high fidelity photon
sources and detectors and replace them with the same device utilised to create
photon/photon entanglement. This introduces highly probabilistic elements into
the optical architecture while maintaining complete specificity of the
structure and operation for a large scale computer. Photons in this system are
continually recycled back into the preparation network, allowing for a
arbitrarily deep 3D cluster to be prepared using a comparatively small number
of photonic qubits and consequently the elimination of high frequency,
deterministic photon sources.Comment: 19 pages, 13 Figs (2 Appendices with additional Figs.). Comments

Combining Topological Hardware and Topological Software: Color Code Quantum Computing with Topological Superconductor Networks
We present a scalable architecture for fault-tolerant topological quantum
computation using networks of voltage-controlled Majorana Cooper pair boxes,
and topological color codes for error correction. Color codes have a set of
transversal gates which coincides with the set of topologically protected gates
in Majorana-based systems, namely the Clifford gates. In this way, we establish
color codes as providing a natural setting in which advantages offered by
topological hardware can be combined with those arising from topological
error-correcting software for full-fledged fault-tolerant quantum computing. We
provide a complete description of our architecture including the underlying
physical ingredients. We start by showing that in topological superconductor
networks, hexagonal cells can be employed to serve as physical qubits for
universal quantum computation, and present protocols for realizing
topologically protected Clifford gates. These hexagonal cell qubits allow for a
direct implementation of open-boundary color codes with ancilla-free syndrome
readout and logical -gates via magic state distillation. For concreteness,
we describe how the necessary operations can be implemented using networks of
Majorana Cooper pair boxes, and give a feasibility estimate for error
correction in this architecture. Our approach is motivated by nanowire-based
networks of topological superconductors, but could also be realized in
alternative settings such as quantum Hall-superconductor hybrids.Comment: 24 pages, 24 figure
Hybrid routing technique for a fault-tolerant, integrated information network
The evolutionary growth of the space station and the diverse activities onboard are expected to require a hierarchy of integrated, local area networks capable of supporting data, voice, and video communications. In addition, fault-tolerant network operation is necessary to protect communications between critical systems attached to the net and to relieve the valuable human resources onboard the space station of time-critical data system repair tasks. A key issue for the design of the fault-tolerant, integrated network is the development of a robust routing algorithm which dynamically selects the optimum communication paths through the net. A routing technique is described that adapts to topological changes in the network to support fault-tolerant operation and system evolvability
Quantifying fault recovery in multiprocessor systems
Various aspects of reliable computing are formalized and quantified with emphasis on efficient fault recovery. The mathematical model which proves to be most appropriate is provided by the theory of graphs. New measures for fault recovery are developed and the value of elements of the fault recovery vector are observed to depend not only on the computation graph H and the architecture graph G, but also on the specific location of a fault. In the examples, a hypercube is chosen as a representative of parallel computer architecture, and a pipeline as a typical configuration for program execution. Dependability qualities of such a system is defined with or without a fault. These qualities are determined by the resiliency triple defined by three parameters: multiplicity, robustness, and configurability. Parameters for measuring the recovery effectiveness are also introduced in terms of distance, time, and the number of new, used, and moved nodes and edges
Covert Quantum Internet
We apply covert quantum communication based on entanglement generated from
the Minkowski vacuum to the setting of quantum computation and quantum
networks. Our approach hides the generation and distribution of entanglement in
quantum networks by taking advantage of relativistic quantum effects. We devise
a suite of covert quantum teleportation protocols that utilize the shared
entanglement, local operations, and covert classical communication to transfer
or process quantum information in stealth. As an application of our covert
suite, we construct two prominent examples of measurement-based quantum
computation, namely the teleportation-based quantum computer and the one-way
quantum computer. In the latter case we explore the covert generation of graph
states, and subsequently outline a protocol for the covert implementation of
universal blind quantum computation.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure
