Im Fokus stehen die folgenden Themen: Digital Humanities, Internetsuche und Online Marketing, Information Seeking und nutzerzentrierte Entwicklung, E-Learning

Paper-based Mixed Reality Sketch Augmentation as a Conceptual Design Support Tool

Get PDF
This undergraduate student paper explores usage of mixed reality techniques as support tools for conceptual design. A proof-of-concept was developed to illustrate this principle. Using this as an example, a small group of designers was interviewed to determine their views on the use of this technology. These interviews are the main contribution of this paper. Several interesting applications were determined, suggesting possible usage in a wide range of domains. Paper-based sketching, mixed reality and sketch augmentation techniques complement each other, and the combination results in a highly intuitive interface

Impact of Transformational Leadership on System Exploration in the Mandatory Organizational Context

Organizational investments in such complex information systems as customer relationship management (CRM) systems have reached a record high. Unfortunately, underutilization of these sophisticated technologies hinders organizations from realizing the promised returns on investment. This study tackles this issue from the perspective of intention to explore, which refers to individual intentions to explore the technology and seek new ways of using it. Drawing upon insights from concepts of exploration, extra-role behavior, technology acceptance, and transformational leadership, this paper proposes a research model for employees’ intention to explore in mandatory organizational contexts, with special emphasis on the effect of transformational leadership. The model was examined in a large telecom service company that uses CRM information systems. The results suggest that transformational leadership, intrinsic motivation, and extrinsic motivation (i.e. perceived usefulness) directly affect employees’ exploratory intentions. Transformational leadership also indirectly influences intention to explore through individuals’ intrinsic motivation and computer self-efficacy

Learners’ continuance participation intention of collaborative group project in virtual learning environment: an extended TAM perspective

The aim of this study is to explore learners’ intention to return to the electronic environment through the use of wikipages. The survey is based on students’ participation in a collaborative group project over a one semester course on business information systems. A research model based on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been proposed to investigate what factors will influence learners’ continuance participation in the electronic learning environment. 75% of students returned the questionnaire and the data analysis results based on the extended TAM Shows that the learners’ intention to return to the electronic learning environment was highly associated with their attitude towards the electronic learning tool and the affection associated with the tool

Understanding international users' library experience in the Digital Age – joining the behavioral and experiential aspects

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to describe, analyze and understand international users' library experience in the Digital Age in order to inform library service design and ensure it provides an inclusive environment. In this study, the behavioral and experiential aspects of user library experience are merged to develop essential interconnections between information behavior (IB) and user experience (UX) in the context of the academic library with the goal of constructing a more holistic understanding of ‘library experience. Design/methodology/approach: The study was built on the concept “library experience” through analyzing its essential components of IB and UX. It was developed through findings from mixed methods research, consisting of the quantitative investigation from a library log analysis, and qualitative investigations via cognitive mapping exercises and semi-structured interviews, both targeted on the largest single group of international students in United Kingdom – international Chinese students. Findings: The findings demonstrated the complexity and multilayered characteristics of international Chinese students' library context, and three unique contexts emerged from the data shaping their library experience. Building on the previous findings on the connections between IB and UX, the work attempted to redefine “library experience” by joining both behavioral and experiential aspects. It is found that the key components of cultural library experience are the multilayered context, cultural group's perception needs, sense-making process and subjective evaluations. Originality/value: This study joins the behavioral and experiential perspectives together to explore library experience in a more holistic way and proposes a systematic structure to understand and analyze library experience, especially that of international users in a cross-cultural context, which, in turn, will better serve their information needs and inform the design of a more equal and inclusive library system

Privacy in crowdsourcing:a systematic review

The advent of crowdsourcing has brought with it multiple privacy challenges. For example, essential monitoring activities, while necessary and unavoidable, also potentially compromise contributor privacy. We conducted an extensive literature review of the research related to the privacy aspects of crowdsourcing. Our investigation revealed interesting gender differences and also differences in terms of individual perceptions. We conclude by suggesting a number of future research directions.</p

Gratifications and Credibility Judgment of Online Information for Task Completion – A Comparison of Students and Workers

This study aims to examine the impact of U&G determinants on intention to search online information and to investigate the effect of the intention to intention to evaluate quality of information and its corresponding behaviour between two user groups: students and workers who use the Internet information to complete their tasks. Structural equation modeling is utilized to assess the research model. Findings reveal U&G factors that are important to full-time students and full-time employees. The results also show the differences between the two groups in terms of the effect of a U&G factor and intention to search on its tentative dependent factor. The comparison between students and employees, the exploration of nascent dimensions of U&G theory, and the focus of the task-fulfillment purpose provide insights to educators, managers, and policy makers on how to enhance the credibility of information used in school or office works

Purpose: With the pandemic outbreak worldwide, electronic learning has been increasing in higher education. It is critical to survey students’ willingness to utilize e-learning. Thus, the purpose of the research is to study the factors significantly impacting on perceived usefulness, attitude, and behavioral intention of e-learning in college education among art and design significant students at Chengdu Textile College (CTC) of Sichuan Province in China. Research design, data, and methodology: A quantitative approach was applied with 500 samples and distributed questionnaires to target art school students at Chengdu Textile College. The sampling methods for data collection involve judgmental, quota and convenience sampling. The Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Structural Equation Model (SEM) were applied in statistical analysis, including model fits, validity and reliability of constructs, and hypothesis testing. Results: The results of the study confirm that the causal relationships among self-efficacy, perceived ease of use, social influence, and performance expectancy on perceived usefulness, attitude, and behavioral intention toward e-learning utilization. Conclusion: This study contributes to educators to put forward suggestions for college education management, curriculum designers, and researchers to get better acquainted with e-learning and make active implementation due to students’ higher perceived usefulness and active attitude and willingness of electronic learning utilization
