The Impact of Transformational Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) in the Workplace: Case study at the Recycling Company Rec-Kos, Kosovo

This research examines whether there exists a positive correlation between the transformational leadership style and factors such as civic virtues, responsibility, altruism, correctness, and civility to practice Civic Organizational Behaviour (OCB) constructively. Employees who tend to support colleagues with the above factors become more outstanding later on. Additionally, these employees excel by acting beyond the set minimum to successfully complete a task. Indeed, OCB can be stimulated by the transformational leader. The quantitative data from the case study in REC-KOS, a private company based in Kosovo, highlight that factors such as age and less work experience are related to the creation of an OCB-supportive work environment. An environment in which the flexibility of rules is praised by the transformational leadership style shows no relevant influence on the promotion of the empathic side of employees. On the other hand, full identification with the company for which one works is achieved primarily through organizational culture

Financial Capital or Social Capital: Evidence From the Survival Analysis of Online P2P Lending Platforms

In this paper, we draw upon the bank survival literature and that in the information management area in identifying the key factors behind the survival of Chinese online P2P lending platforms. In particular, we are interested in determining whether the traditional financial capital or the social capital, associated with the online nature of these innovative lending platforms, plays a more essential role. We implement a flexible proportional odds model with a baseline spline function to analyze survival patterns and also consider potential fractional polynomial transformation and time-dependent effect of variables. Using a hand-collected dataset of 6190 platforms from June 2007 to June 2017, we provide robust evidence that although financial capital variables play an important role in driving platform survival, they are less significant or become insignificance in the presence of social capital variables. A study on wear failure analysis of tungsten carbide hardfacing on carbon steel blade in a digester tank

This paper addresses wear failure analysis of tungsten carbide (WC) hardfacing on a carbon steel blade known as the continuous digester blade (CD blade). The CD blade was placed in a digester tank to mix ilmenite ore with sulphuric acid as part of a production process. Tungsten carbide hardfacing was applied on the CD blade to improve its wear resistance while the CD blade was exposed to an abrasive and acidic environment. Failure analysis was car-ried out on the hardfaced CD blade in order to improve its wear resistance and lifetime. A thickness and hardness comparison study was conducted on worn and unworn specimens from the CD blades. The carbide distribution along with elemental composition analysis of the hardfaced CD blade specimens was examined using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. The investigation revealed that an inconsistent hardfacing thickness was welded around the CD blade. Minimum coating thickness was found at the edges of the blade surfaces causing failure to the blades as the bare carbon steel blades were exposed to the mixed environment. The wear resistance of the CD blade can be improved by distributing the carbide uniformly on the hardfaced coating. Applying extra coating coverage at the critical edge will prevent the exposure of bare carbon steel blade, thus increasing the CD blade lifetime

An empirical approach of the distinctive aspects for socioeconomic development

This paper aims to present an integrative approach for examining key aspects, and their associations, of economic development. After a cross-country cluster analysis of profiles related to select indicators, discriminant analysis of the clusters identified variables that most differentiate them. This assessment acknowledges that their level of capital endowment, and the ability to exploit it, is crucial to economic performance. Intangible aspects are the elements necessary for creation and maintenance of distinct economic development. Economies with lower skills and knowledge activities lose governance and cohesiveness, explaining unemployment and inequalities and influencing the consumer-confidence index. Economies with higher confidence use new communication technologies. E-government and knowledge media play an important role since collective learning occurs through active social communication. As the learning environment matures, its elements gain new knowledge and entrepreneurship, valuing cohesiveness and governance. This study contributes an original integrative approach to indicators for cross-evaluation, applied to economies/regions or firms. The complements between cluster and discriminant analyses consolidate and sustain the approach, helping economists, policymakers, and researchers understand distinctive aspects of economic development and their associations for coping with future economic stress

UNDERSTANDING ONLINE KNOWLEDGE CONTRIBUTION IN SOCIAL LEARNING PERSPECTIVE

Online open knowledge sharing is the idea that the Internet can promote the aggregation and dissemination of useful knowledge between a potentially large number of people. Starting from the knowledge sharing idea, various types of online open knowledge sharing services have provided the central platform for users to interact with each other, share their knowledge, and even jointly create new knowledge. In this study, we derive two research questions: 1) what framework can better explain online knowledge contribution? and 2) what factors influence online knowledge contribution? The study draws on both social learning theory and the social model of knowledge creation to investigate the overall antecedents of knowledge contribution and to examine three facets, user-oriented, service-oriented, and community-oriented knowledge contribution behaviour. In the study, we examine which knowledge sharing antecedents motivate people to contribute to knowledge sharing in the framework based on the social model of knowledge creation. We then verify each variable and hypothesis using a survey and the PLS analysis. This study uses social learning perspective to include all three aspects of knowledge sharing behaviour: personal, community-related, and service-related antecedents. With this new perspective, while previous studies have focused on personal cognitive factors in this area, this study examines the integrative influence of factors from social learning and social knowledge creation antecedents. In addition, our findings offer guidance and insights for knowledge sharing service practitioners and managers who are trying to encourage users? contributions

Investigation of the Impacts of Social Capital on Organizational Entrepreneurship in Tehran Municipality

Entrepreneurship is the symbol of endeavor and success in business, and entrepreneurs play a crucial role in economic and social development of communities. Since Organizational Entrepreneurship (OE) contribute to earning stable finance required for administration of urban affairs, it is very important in the case of municipalities. For this reason, this study aims to investigate the role of social capital (SC) in the development of entrepreneurship in Tehran municipality. Research method was descriptive and non-experimental, and required data were collected through 204 questionnaires distributed among managers and experts of the organization. Stratified sampling was used, in which 37 managers and 167 experts participated. Number of male participants was 147, and number of female participants was 57. The mean age of participants was 41 years, and its standard deviation was 0.765. In order to test the research hypothesis, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used. The results of the study showed that social capital and its three dimensions (Cognitive, Relational and Structural dimensions) had positive significant effect on organizational entrepreneurship

A Model of the Information Seeking and Decision Making of Online Coin Buyers

Introduction. The Everyday Life Information Seeking approach suggests that much information behaviour takes place in non-work settings, for example in the pursuit of leisure activities such as hobbies. This study focuses on a community of collectors to examine how they gather information to decide whether to purchase an item for their collection when the target item has an ambiguous or deficient description. Method. Manual scanning of eBay and other online discussion board for coin buyers led to 187 postings indicating an attempt to reach a purchase decision, or to authenticate a purchased coin, through solicitation or posting of advice. Analysis. Postings were coded as to whether they dealt with 1. Ambiguous images in a listing, 2. Ambiguous statements in a listing, 3. Information missing from a listing, or 4. Sharing of other information (not restricted to a coin listing) that might possibly be used to make a purchase decision or authentication. Results. Using the example postings and the investigator\u27s earlier experiences, a model of coin buyer decision making was created, outlining the different paths and strategies that collectors may take when faced with uncertainties. Conclusion. The Internet facilitates access to both documentary reference material, as well as human information sources. The formation of virtual communities is made possibly, alongside existing face-to-face communities of hobbyists. Further studies of collectors could benefit from comparisons of information behaviour in both virtual and actual worlds

Keeping the User in the Cloud: A Cognitive Social Capital Antecedent to Use Continuance and Service Commitment

Online services are characterized by a separation between service initiation, execution and consumption. This separation presents a problem for retaining users because users with high intention to continue online service use are not necessarily committed to the provider of that service. We use a cognitive social capital explanation to unify two literature streams of use continuance and service commitment. We apply our research model to 245 cloud storage users. We find a significant relationship between mutual understanding, use continuance and relationship commitment. Implications for online service providers are offered
