INWINCCIBLE 360: A music artist producer innovator personal brand experiment

    Get PDF
The international music scene has evolved with the explosion of technology. Artists must have diverse or hybrid skills in order to create a unique personal brand identity to break into the international music scene. Also, it is important to cultivate the knowledge of new software, technology and music production skills in order to communicate on the international music arena. However, there is a lack of artist personal brand research and experiment in the music production and innovation areas. Therefore, this personal brand experiment aims to reinvent own artist personal brand “Soo Wincci” into a hybrid music artist producer innovator personal brand called “Inwinccible.” This project will first analyze the current state of art for traditional mask changing, some cultural world instruments, aerial circus art, technology arts, experimental electronic music and 360 music video. Then using technology, innovation and electronic music production skills to produce a new hybrid combination of audio and visual experiences into an innovative 360 music video project titled “Inwinccible 360”.https://remix.berklee.edu/graduate-studies-production-technology/1133/thumbnail.jp

Behind the mask. A Traditional Circus in Times of Change

This thesis is describing the life of the circus community, considered to be a specific type of group recognized by a traveling way of life, behavioural signs, different values, or cultural practices etc. This research is based mainly on participant observation with and without a camera following a small, traditional family from a Czech circus, consisting of 16 members founded in 2010. In this paper, I am discussing their position in today’s society, their perception of themselves being different compared to the Others, as well as their relationship towards the circus animals, which is a resonant subject for a discussion nowadays. In this study, I am also trying to investigate the possible connection between the circus community and the Romani ethnic group, finding interesting similarities in the form of lifestyle, values and language, but unable to show a definite link. Moreover, I am focusing on the circus and it’s functioning under the wave of globalization, as the new wave of entertainment in the 21st century is affecting their existence. Based on what I found from my fieldwork, the circus, along with its traditions, seems to be in a time of change, facing a more and more uncertain future mainly related to these two factors

    Transhumanism and Marxism: Philosophical Connections

    Get PDF
There exists a real dearth of literature available to Anglophones dealing with philosophical connections between transhumanism and Marxism. This is surprising, given the existence of works on just this relation in the other major European languages and the fact that 47 per cent of people surveyed in the 2007 Interests and Beliefs Survey of the Members of the World Transhumanist Association identified as “left,” though not strictly Marxist (Hughes 2008). Rather than seeking to explain this dearth here, I aim to contribute to its being filled in by identifying three fundamental areas of similarity between transhumanism and Marxism. These are: the importance of material conditions, and particularly technological advancement, for revolution; conceptions of human nature; and conceptions of nature in general. While it is true that both Marxism and (especially) transhumanism are broad fields that encompass diverse positions, even working with somewhat generalized characterizations of the two reveals interesting parallels and dissimilarities fruitful for future work. This comparison also shows that transhumanism and Marxism can learn important lessons from one another that are complementary to their respective projects. I suggest that Marxists can learn from transhumanists two lessons: that some “natural” forces may become reified forces and the extent to which the productive apparatus is now relevant to revolution. Transhumanists, on the other hand, can learn from Marxist theory the essentially social nature of the human being and the ramifications this has for the transformation of the human condition and for the forms of social organization compatible with transhumanist aims. Transhumanists can also benefit from considering the relevance of Marx’s theory of alienation to their goals of technological advancement

    Layers Revealed

Layers Revealed: A Documentary Featuring L.A. Contemporary Dance Company is a video thesis. The intention behind this film is set out to reveal the behind the scenes reality of concert dance, the intricacies that formulate the end product, and what it takes for a dancer to stay present in their craft. I am simply intrigued by the creative process of creating movement and believe everyone should be able to experience that reality. My objective is to inform audiences, of all backgrounds, whether you are a dancer or a nondancer, the small details that are involved in the creative process. It is rare that people, other than the dancers and choreographer, get to be in such an intimate environment. When I watch dance performances, I envision the rehearsal and all of the collaborative efforts that factor into what makes a dance what it is on stage. This is how Layers Revealed evolved and only hope that those who have viewed and will view this film can find a deeper appreciation for the soul, love, energy, and commitment necessary to build a dance show from scratch
