Introducing mobile edge computing capabilities through distributed 5G Cloud Enabled Small Cells
Current trends in broadband mobile networks are addressed towards the placement of different capabilities at the edge of the mobile network in a centralised way. On one hand, the split of the eNB between baseband processing units and remote radio headers makes it possible to process some of the protocols in centralised premises, likely with virtualised resources. On the other hand, mobile edge computing makes use of processing and storage capabilities close to the air interface in order to deploy optimised services with minimum delay. The confluence of both trends is a hot topic in the definition of future 5G networks. The full centralisation of both technologies in cloud data centres imposes stringent requirements to the fronthaul connections in terms of throughput and latency. Therefore, all those cells with limited network access would not be able to offer these types of services. This paper proposes a solution for these cases, based on the placement of processing and storage capabilities close to the remote units, which is especially well suited for the deployment of clusters of small cells. The proposed cloud-enabled small cells include a highly efficient microserver with a limited set of virtualised resources offered to the cluster of small cells. As a result, a light data centre is created and commonly used for deploying centralised eNB and mobile edge computing functionalities. The paper covers the proposed architecture, with special focus on the integration of both aspects, and possible scenarios of application.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
Cognitive system to achieve human-level accuracy in automated assignment of helpdesk email tickets
Ticket assignment/dispatch is a crucial part of service delivery business
with lot of scope for automation and optimization. In this paper, we present an
end-to-end automated helpdesk email ticket assignment system, which is also
offered as a service. The objective of the system is to determine the nature of
the problem mentioned in an incoming email ticket and then automatically
dispatch it to an appropriate resolver group (or team) for resolution.
The proposed system uses an ensemble classifier augmented with a configurable
rule engine. While design of classifier that is accurate is one of the main
challenges, we also need to address the need of designing a system that is
robust and adaptive to changing business needs. We discuss some of the main
design challenges associated with email ticket assignment automation and how we
solve them. The design decisions for our system are driven by high accuracy,
coverage, business continuity, scalability and optimal usage of computational
resources.
Our system has been deployed in production of three major service providers
and currently assigning over 40,000 emails per month, on an average, with an
accuracy close to 90% and covering at least 90% of email tickets. This
translates to achieving human-level accuracy and results in a net saving of
about 23000 man-hours of effort per annum
Enterprise Architecture: Enabling Digital Transformation for Operational Business Process during COVID-19
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the global response to contain its spread and deaths have been unprecedented, according to UNICEF research on COVID-19 released in 2021. Many steps had been taken by countries worldwide, particularly those in South Asia. As of May 17th, 2020, Indonesia reported a total of 17,514 daily positive cases. It has been confirmed that the majority of cases throughout the archipelago occur primarily on Java, particularly in the Greater Jakarta, Greater Bandung, Semarang, Solo, and Greater Surabaya areas. The research object of this paper is a system integrator company located in, Central Jakarta. The company's business is badly impacted by this pandemic. The company provides nearly all ICT solutions, yet improving their internal systems is an issue that has never been brought up. Due to physical distance regulations, leading workers to work from home. To keep the business running, the company began using email as their only tool to run the whole system, which is not effective and causing a crisis for the company. The purpose of this paper is to propose a digital transformation plan as a solution and to support business continuity by utilizing TOGAF ADM. Doi: 10.28991/HIJ-2023-04-01-01 Full Text: PD

Integrating information and knowledge for enterprise innovation
It has widely been accepted that enterprise integration, can be a source of socio-technical and cultural problems within organisations wishing to provide a focussed end-to-end business service. This can cause possible âstraitjacketingâ of business process architectures, thus suppressing responsive business re-engineering and competitive advantage for some companies. Accordingly, the current typology and emergent forms of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technologies are set in the context of understanding information and knowledge integration philosophies. As such, key influences and trends in emerging IS integration choices, for end-to-end, cost-effective and flexible knowledge integration, are examined. As touch points across and outside organisations proliferate, via work-flow and relationship management-driven value innovation, aspects of knowledge refinement and knowledge integration pose challenges to maximising the potential of innovation and sustainable success, within enterprises. This is in terms of the increasing propensity for data fragmentation and the lack of effective information management, in the light of information overload. Furthermore, the nature of IS mediation which is inherent within decision making and workflow-based business processes, provides the basis for evaluation of the effects of information and knowledge integration. Hence, the authors propose a conceptual, holistic evaluation framework which encompasses these ideas. It is thus argued that such trends, and their implications regarding enterprise IS integration to engender sustainable competitive advantage, require fundamental re-thinking
