Chicago Newspaper Theater Critics of the Early 20th Century
In the early years of the twentieth century, when live theater dominated the entertainment world and print media led public discourse, each without competition from electronic forms, the daily newspaper theater critic mediated ideas and values quite differently than today’s critics, whose main function has been reduced to that of a consumer guide. This article examines the corps of theater critics who served ten Chicago newspapers about 100 years ago. At a time when news editors were reluctant to cover new ideas and social movements, such as the push for women’s suffrage, theater critics were encountering radical new social ideas from European playwrights. Whether they approved or disapproved—and they did both, vehemently—their open debate with each other provided a level of public conversation of incalculable value in their own time, and largely missing today
The Effect of Selling Price and Sales Promotion on Decision to Purchase of Sony Brand Home Theater Products
The purpose of this study was to examine and analyze the effect of selling prices and sales promotions on the decision to purchase SONY brand home theater products. This study uses data collection methods by publishing questionnaires with samples taken from 75 respondents. The data of this study are Home Theater consumers at Hypermart Karawaci stores on electronic counters for 3 months from October to December 2016. The sampling used was purposive sampling technique which was takenfromthepopulationforasampleof150people.Thedataanalysistechniqueuses multiple regression analysis techniques. The results showed that partially the selling price had a positive and significant effect on the decision to purchase SONY brand home theater products. Sales promotion partially has a positive and significant effect on the decision to purchase SONY brand home theater products. Selling Prices and Sales Promotions simultaneous have a significant effect on the decision to purchase SONY brand Home theater products with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.258. Research contributions show that Selling Prices and Sales Promotions can confirm marketing theories, selling prices and sales promotions

[Excerpt] This overview chapter provides a framework for the chapters that follow by broadly describing the arts, entertainment, and electronic media (AEEM) industry and the problems confronting it. The overview is presented in four sections focused on: first, the economic structure of the industry; second, unions and bargaining structure; third, the impact of technological changes; and fourth, historical responses on the part of unions and the labor relations system to technological change

Electronic Broadway Project
The Electronic Broadway Project, based at the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH), seeks to create an interface for electronic editions of musical theater texts and, as a prototype, develop an electronic edition of the new Broadway musical Glory Days. We will also explore, in this project, the problem of editing a text that was mostly composed electronically. Like so many new literary works, Glory Days was written using digital tools (Word processors, digital music recorders, etc) and so the primary sources are, in many cases, preserved as bits on magnetic media rather than as ink on paper
Incidence of wrong-site surgery list errors for a 2-year period in a single national health service board
Introduction: Wrong-site/side surgical "never events" continue to cause considerable harm to patients, healthcare professionals, and organizations within the United Kingdom. Incidence has remained static despite the mandatory introduction of surgical checklists. Operating theater list errors have been identified as a regular contributor to these never events. The aims of the study were to identify and to learn from the incidence of wrong-site/side list errors in a single National Health Service board.
Methods: The study was conducted in a single National Health Service board serving a population of approximately 300,000. All theater teams systematically recorded errors identified at the morning theater brief or checklist pause as part of a board-wide quality improvement project. Data were reviewed for a 2-year period from May 2013 to April 2015, and all episodes of wrong-site/side list errors were identified for analysis.
Results: No episodes of wrong-site/side surgery were recorded for the study period. A total of 86 wrong-site/side list errors were identified in 29,480 cases (0.29%). There was considerable variation in incidence between surgical specialties with ophthalmology recording the largest proportion of errors per number of surgical cases performed (1 in 87 cases) and gynecology recording the smallest proportion (1 in 2671 cases). The commonest errors to occur were "wrong-side" list errors (62/86, 72.1%).
Discussion: This is the first study to identify incidence of wrong-site/site list errors in the United Kingdom. Reducing list errors should form part of a wider risk reduction strategy to reduce wrong-site/side never events. Human factors barrier management analysis may help identify the most effective checks and controls to reduce list errors incidence, whereas resilience engineering approaches should help develop understanding of how to best capture and neutralize errors
