Super-ego in patients with coronary artery disease [Super-ego oboljelih od bolesti koronarnih arterija srca]
In this paper, we explored the super-ego of patients with coronary artery disease. Research results have confirmed the initial hypothesis that a significant number of patients with coronary artery disease has rigorous super-ego. Among patients with coronary artery disease (N=50), and control group (N=50), we have found significant differences in the quality of super-ego and ego attitude towards the demands of the super-ego. The results of this research contribute to understanding the impact of psychological factors in coronary artery disease
Towards Visual Ego-motion Learning in Robots
Many model-based Visual Odometry (VO) algorithms have been proposed in the
past decade, often restricted to the type of camera optics, or the underlying
motion manifold observed. We envision robots to be able to learn and perform
these tasks, in a minimally supervised setting, as they gain more experience.
To this end, we propose a fully trainable solution to visual ego-motion
estimation for varied camera optics. We propose a visual ego-motion learning
architecture that maps observed optical flow vectors to an ego-motion density
estimate via a Mixture Density Network (MDN). By modeling the architecture as a
Conditional Variational Autoencoder (C-VAE), our model is able to provide
introspective reasoning and prediction for ego-motion induced scene-flow.
Additionally, our proposed model is especially amenable to bootstrapped
ego-motion learning in robots where the supervision in ego-motion estimation
for a particular camera sensor can be obtained from standard navigation-based
sensor fusion strategies (GPS/INS and wheel-odometry fusion). Through
experiments, we show the utility of our proposed approach in enabling the
concept of self-supervised learning for visual ego-motion estimation in

Synergistic Antifungal Study of PEGylated Graphene Oxides and Copper Nanoparticles against Candida albicans

This article is an open access article distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/).The coupling reactions of polyethylene glycol (PEG) with two different nano-carbonaceous materials, graphene oxide (GO) and expanded graphene oxide (EGO), were achieved by amide bond formations. These reactions yielded PEGylated graphene oxides, GO-PEG and EGO-PEG. Whilst presence of the newly formed amide links (NH-CO) were confirmed by FTIR stretches observed at 1732 cm−1 and 1712 cm−1, the associated Raman D- and G-bands resonated at 1311/1318 cm−1 and 1584/1595 cm−1 had shown the carbonaceous structures in both PEGylated products remain unchanged. Whilst SEM images revealed the nano-sheet structures in all the GO derivatives (GO/EGO and GO-PEG/EGO-PEG), TEM images clearly showed the nano-structures of both GO-PEG and EGO-PEG had undergone significant morphological changes from their starting materials after the PEGylated processes. The successful PEGylations were also indicated by the change of pH values measured in the starting GO/EGO (pH 2.6–3.3) and the PEGylated GO-PEG/EGO-PEG (pH 6.6–6.9) products. Initial antifungal activities of selective metallic nanomaterials (ZnO and Cu) and the four GO derivatives were screened against Candida albicans using the in vitro cut-well method. Whilst the haemocytometer count indicated GO-PEG and copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) exhibited the best antifungal effects, the corresponding SEM images showed C. albicans had, respectively, undergone extensive shrinkage and porosity deformations. Synergistic antifungal effects all GO derivatives in various ratio of CuNPs combinations were determined by assessing C. albicans viabilities using broth dilution assays. The best synergistic effects were observed when a 30:70 ratio of GO/GO-PEG combined with CuNPs, where MIC50 185–225 μm/mL were recorded. Moreover, the decreased antifungal activities observed in EGO and EGO-PEG may be explained by their poor colloidal stability with increasing nanoparticle concentrations.Peer reviewe
Segue: Overviewing Evolution Patterns of Egocentric Networks by Interactive Construction of Spatial Layouts
Getting the overall picture of how a large number of ego-networks evolve is a
common yet challenging task. Existing techniques often require analysts to
inspect the evolution patterns of ego-networks one after another. In this
study, we explore an approach that allows analysts to interactively create
spatial layouts in which each dot is a dynamic ego-network. These spatial
layouts provide overviews of the evolution patterns of ego-networks, thereby
revealing different global patterns such as trends, clusters and outliers in
evolution patterns. To let analysts interactively construct interpretable
spatial layouts, we propose a data transformation pipeline, with which analysts
can adjust the spatial layouts and convert dynamic egonetworks into event
sequences to aid interpretations of the spatial positions. Based on this
transformation pipeline, we developed Segue, a visual analysis system that
supports thorough exploration of the evolution patterns of ego-networks.
Through two usage scenarios, we demonstrate how analysts can gain insights into
the overall evolution patterns of a large collection of ego-networks by

Dominating sets and ego-centered decompositions in social networks
Our aim here is to address the problem of decomposing a whole network into a
minimal number of ego-centered subnetworks. For this purpose, the network egos
are picked out as the members of a minimum dominating set of the network.
However, to find such an efficient dominating ego-centered construction, we
need to be able to detect all the minimum dominating sets and to compare all
the corresponding dominating ego-centered decompositions of the network. To
find all the minimum dominating sets of the network, we are developing a
computational heuristic, which is based on the partition of the set of nodes of
a graph into three subsets, the always dominant vertices, the possible dominant
vertices and the never dominant vertices, when the domination number of the
network is known. To compare the ensuing dominating ego-centered decompositions
of the network, we are introducing a number of structural measures that count
the number of nodes and links inside and across the ego-centered subnetworks.
Furthermore, we are applying the techniques of graph domination and

The effects of motivational climate interventions on psychobiosocial states in high school physical education
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of task- and ego-involving climate manipulations on students’ climate perception and psychobiosocial (PBS) states in a physical education setting. Method: Two subsamples of female students (N = 108, 14-15 years of age) participated for 12 lessons on either a task- or an ego-involving climate intervention as grounded in the TARGET model. Results: At the end of the treatment, the participants of the ego-involved group reported lower scores in perceived task-involving climate and higher scores in perceived ego-involving climate than their peers in the task-involved group. Lower scores in pleasant/functional PBS states and higher scores in unpleasant/dysfunctional PBS states were also observed in the ego-involved group as a consequence of the intervention. Conclusion(s): Findings suggested that teacher’s induced achievement motivational climates can influence students’ perceptions and prompt PBS states consistent with the motivational atmosphere
Moral reasoning in sport:validation of the Portuguese version of the RSBH value-judgement inventory in adolescents
The purpose of this study was to examine the validity and reliability of the Portuguese version of the Rudd Stoll Beller Hahm Value-judgement Inventory (RSBHVI) in a sample of adolescents. The RSBHVI, which measures moral and social reasoning, was translated using a back translation method. A sample of 238 10th to 12th grade high school students (age mean value 16.93 years, s = 1.34) completed the Portuguese versions of RSBH, and the Task and Ego-orientation Questionnaire. Partial support for the original structure of the moral reasoning scale, but not the social reasoning scale, was found. Females, and non-athletes and individual sport athletes scored significantly higher than males and team sport athletes in moral reasoning, respectively. Moral reasoning was negatively correlated with ego-orientation (r = −30; p <. 001) and uncorrelated with task-orientation (r = .10, p > .05). Participants who were low-ego scored higher in moral reasoning than those who were high-ego. It is suggested that decreasing levels of ego-orientation may be necessary to improve athletes’ moral reasoning
Early-stage star forming cloud cores in GLIMPSE Extended Green Objects (EGOs) as traced by organic species
In order to investigate the physical and chemical properties of massive star
forming cores in early stages, we analyse the excitation and abundance of four
organic species, CH3OH, CH3OCH3, HCOOCH3 and CH3CH2CN, toward 29 Extended Green
Object (EGO) cloud cores that were observed by our previous single dish
spectral line survey. The EGO cloud cores are found to have similar methanol
J_3-J_2 rotation temperatures of ~44 K, a typical linear size of ~0.036 pc, and
a typical beam averaged methanol abundance of several 10^(-9) (the beam
corrected value could reach several 10^(-7)). The abundances of the latter
three species, normalized by that of methanol, are found to be correlated also
across a large variety of clouds such as EGO cloud cores, hot corinos, massive
hot cores and Galactic Center clouds. The chemical properties of the EGO cloud
cores lie between that of hot cores and hot corinos. However, the abundances
and abundance ratios of the four species can not be satisfactorily explained by
recent chemical models either among the EGO cloud cores or among the various
types of cloud cores from literature
