    Further analysis of stability of uncertain neural networks with multiple time delays

    This paper studies the robust stability of uncertain neural networks with multiple time delays with respect to the class of nondecreasing activation functions. By using the Lyapunov functional and homeomorphism mapping theorems, we derive a new delay-independent sufficient condition the existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for delayed neural networks with uncertain network parameters. The condition obtained for the robust stability establishes a matrix-norm relationship between the network parameters of the neural system, and therefore it can easily be verified. We also present some constructive numerical examples to compare the proposed result with results in the previously published corresponding literature. These comparative examples show that our new condition can be considered as an alternative result to the previous corresponding literature results as it defines a new set of network parameters ensuring the robust stability of delayed neural networks.Publisher's Versio

    Synchronization of reaction–diffusion Hopfield neural networks with s-delays through sliding mode control

    Synchronization of reaction–diffusion Hopfield neural networks with s-delays via sliding mode control (SMC) is investigated in this paper. To begin with, the system is studied in an abstract Hilbert space C([–r; 0];U) rather than usual Euclid space Rn. Then we prove that the state vector of the drive system synchronizes to that of the response system on the switching surface, which relies on equivalent control. Furthermore, we prove that switching surface is the sliding mode area under SMC. Moreover, SMC controller can also force with any initial state to reach the switching surface within finite time, and the approximating time estimate is given explicitly. These criteria are easy to check and have less restrictions, so they can provide solid theoretical guidance for practical design in the future. Three different novel Lyapunov–Krasovskii functionals are used in corresponding proofs. Meanwhile, some inequalities such as Young inequality, Cauchy inequality, Poincaré inequality, Hanalay inequality are applied in these proofs. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the availability of our theoretical result, and the simulation is also carried out based on Runge–Kutta–Chebyshev method through Matlab

    Open Mathematics is a challenging notion for theoretical modeling, technical analysis, and numerical simulation in physics and mathematics, as well as in many other fields, as highly correlated nonlinear phenomena, evolving over a large range of time scales and length scales, control the underlying systems and processes in their spatiotemporal evolution. Indeed, available data, be they physical, biological, or financial, and technologically complex systems and stochastic systems, such as mechanical or electronic devices, can be managed from the same conceptual approach, both analytically and through computer simulation, using effective nonlinear dynamics methods. The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight papers that show the dynamics, control, optimization and applications of nonlinear systems. This has recently become an increasingly popular subject, with impressive growth concerning applications in engineering, economics, biology, and medicine, and can be considered a veritable contribution to the literature. Original papers relating to the objective presented above are especially welcome subjects.     Finite-time stochastic synchronization of fuzzy bi-directional associative memory neural networks with Markovian switching and mixed time delays via intermittent quantized control

    We are concerned in this paper with the finite-time synchronization problem for fuzzy bi-directional associative memory neural networks with Markovian switching, discrete-time delay in leakage terms, continuous-time and infinitely distributed delays in transmission terms. After detailed analysis, we come up with an intermittent quantized control for the concerned bi-directional associative memory neural network. By designing an elaborate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, we prove under certain additional conditions that the controlled network is stochastically synchronizable in finite time: The 1st moment of every trajectory of the error network system associated to the concerned controlled network tends to zero as time approaches a finite instant (the settling time) which is given explicitly, and remains to be zero constantly thereupon. In the meantime, we present a numerical example to illustrate that the synchronization control designed in this paper is indeed effective. Since the concerned fuzzy network includes Markovian jumping and several types of delays simultaneously, and it can be synchronized in finite time by our suggested control, as well as the suggested intermittent control is quantized which could reduce significantly the control cost, the theoretical results in this paper are rich in mathematical implication and have wide potential applicability in the real world

    Improved results on an extended dissipative analysis of neural networks with additive time-varying delays using auxiliary function-based integral inequalities

    The issue of extended dissipative analysis for neural networks (NNs) with additive time-varying delays (ATVDs) is examined in this research. Some less conservative sufficient conditions are obtained to ensure the NNs are asymptotically stable and extended dissipative by building the agumented Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, which is achieved by utilizing some mathematical techniques with improved integral inequalities like auxiliary function-based integral inequalities (gives a tighter upper bound). The present study aims to solve the H∞,L2−L∞ H_{\infty}, L_2-L_{\infty} , passivity and (Q,S,R) (Q, S, R) -γ \gamma -dissipativity performance in a unified framework based on the extended dissipativity concept. Following this, the condition for the solvability of the designed NNs with ATVDs is presented in the form of linear matrix inequalities. Finally, the practicality and effectiveness of this approach were demonstrated through four numerical examples

    Stability Analysis and Design of Time-Varying Nonlinear Systems Based on Impulsive Fuzzy Model

    This paper develops a general analysis and design theory for nonlinear time-varying systems represented by impulsive T-S fuzzy control model, which extends conventional T-S fuzzy model. In the proposed, model impulse is viewed as control input of T-S model, and impulsive distance is the major controller to be designed. Several criteria on general stability, asymptotic stability, and exponential stability are established, and a simple design algorithm is provided with stability of nonlinear time-invariant systems. Finally, the numerical simulation for the predator-prey system with functional response and impulsive effects verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods
