Verification and Validation of Semantic Annotations
In this paper, we propose a framework to perform verification and validation
of semantically annotated data. The annotations, extracted from websites, are
verified against the schema.org vocabulary and Domain Specifications to ensure
the syntactic correctness and completeness of the annotations. The Domain
Specifications allow checking the compliance of annotations against
corresponding domain-specific constraints. The validation mechanism will detect
errors and inconsistencies between the content of the analyzed schema.org

Structural Breaks in Inflation Dynamics within the European Monetary Union
To assess the effects of the EMU on inflation rate dynamics of its member states, the inflation rate series for 21 European countries are investigated for structural changes. To capture changes in mean, variance, and skewness of inflation rates, a generalized logistic model is adopted and complemented with structural break tests and breakpoint estimation techniques. These reveal considerable differences in the patterns of inflation dynamics and the structural changes therein. Overall, there is a convergence towards a lower mean inflation rate with reduced skewness, but it is accompanied by an increase in variance.inflation rate, structural break, EMU, generalized logistic distribution
Complete Semantics to empower Touristic Service Providers
The tourism industry has a significant impact on the world's economy,
contributes 10.2% of the world's gross domestic product in 2016. It becomes a
very competitive industry, where having a strong online presence is an
essential aspect for business success. To achieve this goal, the proper usage
of latest Web technologies, particularly schema.org annotations is crucial. In
this paper, we present our effort to improve the online visibility of touristic
service providers in the region of Tyrol, Austria, by creating and deploying a
substantial amount of semantic annotations according to schema.org, a widely
used vocabulary for structured data on the Web. We started our work from
Tourismusverband (TVB) Mayrhofen-Hippach and all touristic service providers in
the Mayrhofen-Hippach region and applied the same approach to other TVBs and
regions, as well as other use cases. The rationale for doing this is
straightforward. Having schema.org annotations enables search engines to
understand the content better, and provide better results for end users, as
well as enables various intelligent applications to utilize them. As a direct
consequence, the region of Tyrol and its touristic service increase their
online visibility and decrease the dependency on intermediaries, i.e. Online

Public beliefs and corruption in a repeated psychological game
This paper investigates the role of guilt aversion for corruption in public administration. Corruption is modeled as the outcome of a game played between a bureaucrat, a lobby, and the public. There is a moral cost of corruption for the bureaucrat, who is averse to letting the public down. We study how the behavior of the lobby and the bureaucrat depend on perceived public beliefs, when these are constant and when they are allowed to vary over time. Flexible Rasch Mixture Models with Package psychomix
Measurement invariance is an important assumption in the Rasch model and mixture models constitute a flexible way of checking for a violation of this assumption by detecting unobserved heterogeneity in item response data. Here, a general class of Rasch mixture models is established and implemented in R, using conditional maximum likelihood estimation of the item parameters (given the raw scores) along with flexible specification of two model building blocks: (1) Mixture weights for the unobserved classes can be treated as model parameters or based on covariates in a concomitant variable model. (2) The distribution of raw score probabilities can be parametrized in two possible ways, either using a saturated model or a specification through mean and variance. The function raschmix() in the R package "psychomix" provides these models, leveraging the general infrastructure for fitting mixture models in the "flexmix" package. Quantum Simulation of Quantum Field Theories in Trapped Ions
We propose the quantum simulation of a fermion and an antifermion field modes
interacting via a bosonic field mode, and present a possible implementation
with two trapped ions. This quantum platform allows for the scalable add-up of
bosonic and fermionic modes, and represents an avenue towards quantum
simulations of quantum field theories in perturbative and nonperturbative

To explore why bubbles frequently emerge in the experimental asset market model of Smith, Suchanek and Williams (1988), we vary the fundamental value process (constant or declining) and the cash-to-asset value-ratio (constant or increasing). We observe high mispricing in treatments with a declining fundamental value, while overvaluation emerges when coupled with an increasing C/A-ratio. A questionnaire reveals that the declining fundamental value process confuses subjects, as they expect the fundamental value to stay constant.Running the experiment with a different context (“stocks of a depletable gold mine” instead of “stocks”) significantly reduces mispricing and overvaluation as it reduces confusion.Experimental economics, asset market, bubble, market efficiency, confusion
Modeling of breath methane concentration profiles during exercise on an ergometer
We develop a simple three compartment model based on mass balance equations
which quantitatively describes the dynamics of breath methane concentration
profiles during exercise on an ergometer. With the help of this model it is
possible to estimate the endogenous production rate of methane in the large
