O controle apresentou a maior relação MSR/MSPA.

Fusaric acid produced by Fusarium spp. played a major role in potato dry rot development. Using fusaric acid as a selection agent may be useful to identify resistant clones. The aim of this experiment was to evaluate the morphological responses of 10 potato clones (Granola, Atlantic, Cipanas, DTO 28, DTO 33, Russet Burbank, IPB 1, CIP 801040, CIP 801045, dan CIP 801050) and their resistance level to fusaric acid and Fusarium solani. The research was conducted in Plant Breeding Laboratory and Tissue Culture Laboratory 3, Departement of Agronomy and Horticulture from April 2014-February 2015. The in vitro experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with 4 fusaric acid concentrations and 4 replications, while the F. solani infection experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 replications. The result showed that fusaric acid inhibits growth, reduce microtubers production, and caused planlets death. Correlation analysis between in vitro resistance to fusaric acid and F. solani infection on tuber showed positive and notable result. Accordingly, fusaric acid can be used to identify any clones resistant to F. solani

Make Me Beautiful. Japanese Men’s Personal Grooming Products’ Consumption and Brand Selection

Physical attractiveness is an important determinant of a person’s success and fortune in life. This study delves into the underlying factors that drive the consumption of personal grooming products (including skincare and color cosmetics) among Japanese men consumers set against the backdrop of a prevalent metrosexual culture. A qualitative study was undertaken in soliciting consumer emotions, experiences and perceptions as well as in understanding the drivers that lead to purchase decisions and brand choices. The study also reflected that consumerism can develop from popular (and traditional) culture. The findings indicated that brand loyalty does not completely exist as brand choices are made based on convenience and the strong influence from the women. Hence, this presents further opportunities for corporations and brands to work on and develop strategies to fully capture the market

A Comparison Study of Three Polar Grids

The circumference of a latitude circle decreases toward the Poles, making it difficult to present meteorological field variables on equally spaced grids with respect to latitude and longitude because of data aggregation. To identify the best method for displaying data at the Poles, three different grids are compared that have all been designed to reduce data aggregation: the reduced latitude–longitude (RL) grid, the National Snow and Ice Data Center Equal-Area Special Sensor Microwave Imager (SSM/I) Earth (EA) grid, and the National Meteorological Center octagonal (OG) grid. The merits and disadvantages of these grids are compared in terms of depictions of the Arctic summer circulation with wind vectors, streamfunction, and velocity potential at 400 hPa where maximum westerlies are located. Using geostrophy, the 400-hPa streamfunction at high latitudes can be formed from geopotential height. In comparison with this geostrophic streamfunction, the streamfunction generated from vorticity on the OG grid shows a negligible error (∼0.5%). The error becomes larger using vorticity on the EA (∼15%) and RL (∼30%) grids. During the northern summer, the Arctic circulation at 400 hPa is characterized by three troughs. The streamfunction and velocity potential of these three troughs are spatially in quadrature with divergent (convergent) centers located ahead of (behind) these troughs. These circulation features are best depicted by the streamfunction and velocity potential generated on the OG grid. It is demonstrated by these findings that the National Meteorological Center octagonal grid is the most ideal among the three grids used for the polar regions. However, this assessment is constrained by the hemispheric perspective of meteorological field variables, because these variables depicted on the octagonal grid at higher latitudes need to be merged with those on the equal-latitude-longitude grid at lower latitudes

    A Catalog of Galaxies behind the Southern Milky Way. - I. The Hydra/Antlia Extension (l: 266 - 296 deg)

A deep optical galaxy search in the southern Milky Way - aimed at reducing the width of the Zone of Avoidance - revealed 3279 galaxy candidates above the diameter limit of D > 0.2 arcmin, of which only 112 (3.4%) were previously catalogued. The surveyed region (266 < l < 296 and -10 < b < +8) lies in the extension of the Hydra and Antlia clusters - where a supercluster is suspected - and in the approximate direction of the dipole anisotropy in the Cosmic Microwave Background radiation. Here we present the optical properties of the unveiled galaxies such as positions, diameters, magnitudes, morphological types, including a detailed discussion on the quality of these data and the completeness limits as a function of the foreground dust extinction. For 127 of the 227 positional matches in the IRAS PSC, a reliable cross-identification could be found. Several distinct overdensities and filaments of galaxies can be identified that are apparently uncorrelated with the Galactic foreground extinction hence the probable signature of extragalactic large-scale structures. This catalog constitutes the first part in a series of five equally conducted optical searches for galaxies in the southern Milky Way (245 < l < 350). With these surveys, the entire Zone of Avoidance will have been covered by means of visual inspection. The catalogs build the basis for various spectroscopic and photometric follow-up programs which eventually will allow a thorough analyse of the galaxy distribution in redshift space and the peculiar velocity fields within the Zone of Avoidance, as well an an improved understanding of the Galactic foreground extinction.Comment: Accepted for publication by A&ASS, 50 pages, LaTex, 7 encapsulated figures, requires aa.cls end epsf.sty.
