The Dynamics of Group Codes: Dual Abelian Group Codes and Systems

Fundamental results concerning the dynamics of abelian group codes (behaviors) and their duals are developed. Duals of sequence spaces over locally compact abelian groups may be defined via Pontryagin duality; dual group codes are orthogonal subgroups of dual sequence spaces. The dual of a complete code or system is finite, and the dual of a Laurent code or system is (anti-)Laurent. If C and C^\perp are dual codes, then the state spaces of C act as the character groups of the state spaces of C^\perp. The controllability properties of C are the observability properties of C^\perp. In particular, C is (strongly) controllable if and only if C^\perp is (strongly) observable, and the controller memory of C is the observer memory of C^\perp. The controller granules of C act as the character groups of the observer granules of C^\perp. Examples of minimal observer-form encoder and syndrome-former constructions are given. Finally, every observer granule of C is an "end-around" controller granule of C.Comment: 30 pages, 11 figures. To appear in IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory, 200

Entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes over arbitrary finite fields

We prove that the known formulae for computing the optimal number of maximally entangled pairs required for entanglement-assisted quantum error-correcting codes (EAQECCs) over the binary field hold for codes over arbitrary finite fields as well. We also give a Gilbert-Varshamov bound for EAQECCs and constructions of EAQECCs coming from punctured self-orthogonal linear codes which are valid for any finite field.Supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy/FEDER: grants MTM2015-65764-C3-1-P, MTM2015-65764-C3-2-P, MTM2015-69138-REDT and RYC-2016-20208 (AEI/FSE/UE), the University Jaume I: grant UJI-B2018-10, Spanish Junta de CyL: grant VA166G18, and JSPS Grant No. 17K06419

Stabilizer quantum codes from JJ-affine variety codes and a new Steane-like enlargement

    Get PDF
New stabilizer codes with parameters better than the ones available in the literature are provided in this work, in particular quantum codes with parameters [[127,63,≥12]]2[[127,63, \geq 12]]_2 and [[63,45,≥6]]4[[63,45, \geq 6]]_4 that are records. These codes are constructed with a new generalization of the Steane's enlargement procedure and by considering orthogonal subfield-subcodes --with respect to the Euclidean and Hermitian inner product-- of a new family of linear codes, the JJ-affine variety codes

Construction of isodual codes from polycirculant matrices

Double polycirculant codes are introduced here as a generalization of double circulant codes. When the matrix of the polyshift is a companion matrix of a trinomial, we show that such a code is isodual, hence formally self-dual. Numerical examples show that the codes constructed have optimal or quasi-optimal parameters amongst formally self-dual codes. Self-duality, the trivial case of isoduality, can only occur over \F_2 in the double circulant case. Building on an explicit infinite sequence of irreducible trinomials over \F_2, we show that binary double polycirculant codes are asymptotically good
