    Get PDF
In recent years, a compelling need has arisen to understand the effects of distributed information structures on estimation and filtering. In this paper, a bibliographical review on distributed Kalman filtering (DKF) is provided.\ud The paper contains a classification of different approaches and methods involved to DKF. The applications of DKF are also discussed and explained separately. A comparison of different approaches is briefly carried out. Focuses on the contemporary research are also addressed with emphasis on the practical applications of the techniques. An exhaustive list of publications, linked directly or indirectly to DKF in the open literature, is compiled to provide an overall picture of different developing aspects of this area

Distributed H ∞ state estimation for stochastic delayed 2-D systems with randomly varying nonlinearities over saturated sensor networks

In this paper, the distributed H ∞ state estimation problem is investigated for the two-dimensional (2-D) time-delay systems. The target plant is characterized by the generalized Fornasini-Marchesini 2-D equations where both stochastic disturbances and randomly varying nonlinearities (RVNs) are considered. The sensor measurement outputs are subject to saturation restrictions due to the physical limitations of the sensors. Based on the available measurement outputs from each individual sensor and its neighboring sensors, the main purpose of this paper is to design distributed state estimators such that not only the states of the target plant are estimated but also the prescribed H ∞ disturbance attenuation performance is guaranteed. By defining an energy-like function and utilizing the stochastic analysis as well as the inequality techniques, sufficient conditions are established under which the augmented estimation error system is globally asymptotically stable in the mean square and the prescribed H ∞ performance index is satisfied. Furthermore, the explicit expressions of the individual estimators are also derived. Finally, numerical example is exploited to demonstrate the effectiveness of the results obtained in this paper

Design of Event-Triggered Asynchronous H∞ Filter for Switched Systems Using the Sampled-Data Approach

The design of networked switched systems with event-based communication is attractive due to its potential to save bandwidth and energy. However, ensuring the stability and performance of networked systems with event-triggered communication and asynchronous switching is challenging due to their time-varying nature. This paper presents a novel sampled-data approach to design event-triggered asynchronous H∞ filters for networked switched systems. Unlike most existing event-based filtering results, which either design the event-triggering scheme only or co-design the event-triggering condition and the filter, we consider that the event-triggering policy is predefined and synthesize the filter. We model the estimation error system as an event-triggered switched system with time delay and non-uniform sampling. By implementing a delay-dependent multiple Lyapunov method, we derive sufficient conditions to ensure the global asymptotic stability of the filtering error system and an H∞ performance level. The efficacy of the proposed design technique and the superiority of the filter performance is illustrated by numerical examples and by comparing the performance with a recent result

Lying in the core part of the area are the distributed estimation and fault detection problems that have recently been attracting growing research interests. In particular, an urgent need has arisen to understand the effects of distributed information structures on filtering and fault detection in sensor networks. In this paper, a bibliographical review is provided on distributed filtering and fault detection problems over sensor networks. The algorithms employed to study the distributed filtering and detection problems are categorised and then discussed. In addition, some recent advances on distributed detection problems for faulty sensors and fault events are also summarized in great detail. Finally, we conclude the paper by outlining future research challenges for distributed filtering and fault detection for sensor networks. © 2014 Hongli Dong et al

Fault Detection for Wireless Network Control Systems with Stochastic Uncertainties and Time Delays

    Get PDF
The fault detection problem is investigated for a class of wireless network control systems which has stochastic uncertainties in the state-space matrices, combined with time delays and nonlinear disturbance. First, the system error observer is proposed. Then, by constructing proper Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, we acquire sufficient conditions to guarantee the stability of the fault detection observer for the discrete system, and observer gain is also derived by solving linear matrix inequalities. Finally, a simulation example shows that when a fault happens, the observer residual rises rapidly and fault can be quickly detected, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed method
