A Robust Object Recognition for Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) based on Discriminative Robust Local Binary Pattern (DRLBP) and Local Ternary Pattern (LTP) analysis. The Robust Object Recognition using edge and texture feature extraction. The extension of Local Binary Pattern (LBP) is called DRLBP. The category recognition system will be developed for application to image retrieval. The category recognition is to classify an object into one of several predefined categories. LBP is defined as an ordered set of binary comparisons of pixel intensities between the center pixel and its eight surrounding pixels .DRLBP features identifying the contrast information of image patterns. The proposed features preserve the contrast information of image patterns. The DRLBP discriminates an object like the object surface texture and the object shape formed by its boundary

Feature extraction is a main step in all perceptual image hashing schemes in which robust features will led to better results in perceptual robustness. Simplicity, discriminative power, computational efficiency and robustness to illumination changes are counted as distinguished properties of Local Binary Pattern features. In this paper, we investigate the use of local binary patterns for perceptual image hashing. In feature extraction, we propose to use both sign and magnitude information of local differences. So, the algorithm utilizes a combination of gradient-based and LBP-based descriptors for feature extraction. To provide security needs, two secret keys are incorporated in feature extraction and hash generation steps. Performance of the proposed hashing method is evaluated with an important application in perceptual image hashing scheme: image authentication. Experiments are conducted to show that the present method has acceptable robustness against perceptual content-preserving manipulations. Moreover, the proposed method has this capability to localize the tampering area, which is not possible in all hashing schemes

An excellent face recognition for a surveillance camera system requires remarkable and robust face descriptor. Binary gradient pattern (BGP) descriptor is one of the ideal descriptors for facial feature extraction. However, exploiting local features merely from smaller region or microstructure does not capture a complete facial feature. In this paper, an extended binary gradient pattern (eBGP) is proposed to capture both micro- and macrostructure information of a local region to boost up the descriptor performance and discriminative power. Two topologies, the patch-based and circular-based topologies, are incorporated with the eBGP to test its robustness against illumination, image quality, and uncontrolled capture conditions using the SCface database. Experimental results show that the fusion between micro- and macrostructure information significantly boosts up the descriptor performance. It also illustrates that the proposed eBGP descriptor outperforms the conventional BGP on both the patch-based topology and the circular-based topology. Furthermore, a fusion of information from two different image types, orientational image gradient magnitude (OIGM) and grayscale image, attained better performance than using OIGM image only. The overall results indicate that the proposed eBGP descriptor improves the recognition performance with respect to the baseline BGP descriptor

An iris recognition system using LBP feature extraction technique with Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural Network is presented. For feature extraction from the eye images the iris localization and segmentation is very important task so in proposed work Hough circular transform (HCT) is used to segment the iris region from the eye mages. In this proposed work Local Binary Pattern (LBP) feature extraction technique is used to extract feature from the segmented iris region, then feed forward back propagation neural network is use as a classifier and in any classifier there to phases training and testing. The LBP feature extraction technique is a straightforward technique and every proficient feature operator which labels the pixels of an iris image by thresholding the neighbourhood of each pixel and considers the feature as a result in form of binary number. Due to its discriminative efficiency and computational simplicity the LBP feature extractor has become a popular approach in various recognition systems. This proposed method decreased the FAR as well as FRR, & has increases the system performance on the given dataset. The average accuracy of proposed iris recognition system is more than 97%

In this paper, we propose a novel appearance based local feature extraction technique called Local Mean Binary Pattern (LMBP), which efficiently encodes the local texture and global shape of the face. LMBP code is produced by weighting the thresholded neighbor intensity values with respect to mean of 3 x 3 patch. LMBP produces highly discriminative code compared to other state of the art methods. The micro pattern is derived using the mean of the patch, and hence it is robust against illumination and noise variations. An image is divided into M x N regions and feature descriptor is derived by concatenating LMBP distribution of each region. We also propose a novel template matching strategy called Histogram Normalized Absolute Difference (HNAD) for comparing LMBP histograms. Rigorous experiments prove the effectiveness and robustness of LMBP operator. Experiments also prove the superiority of HNAD measure over well-known template matching methods such as L2 norm and Chi-Square measure. We also investigated LMBP for facial expression recognition low resolution. The performance of the proposed approach is tested on well-known datasets CK, JAFFE, and TFEID
