    The canonization of German-language digital literature

    In his paper, "The Canonization of German-language Digital Literature," Florian Hartling discusses "Net Literature," a relatively young phenomenon, that has its roots in experimental visual and concrete poetry and hypertext. With the use of new media technology, this new genre of literature has acquired much interest and is now considered to be one of the most important influences in contemporary art. Not only does Net Literature connect sound, video, and animation with interactivity and allows new forms of artistic expression, it also impacts significantly on the traditional functions of the literary system. Hartling suggests that, in relation to Net Literature, the notion of the "death of the author" gives birth to the "writing reader." Hartling presents the results of his study where he applies the concept of "canon" to German-language Net Literature and where he attempts to find out whether, in this new form of literature, a "canon" has already been formed. Based on Karl Erik Rosengren's framework of "mention technique," a sample of Germanlanguage reviews of Net Literature was analyzed. The study intends to test the applicability of Rosengren's method to the analysis of Net Literature, that is, whether it is valid to use a method that was originally developed for the empirical study of the traditional literary canon for the study of an emergent Net Literature

    It is on the margins of what Katherine Hayles calls the ‘shifty’ boundaries between computer games and electronic literature as well as between digital art and electronic literature that I set the focus of this paper. I argue that electronic literature, with its cohabitation of strong elements of play and claims to ‘literariness’, allows for a discussion of the interface between literary theory and digital games by exposing points of contact as well as divergence through the respective claims of the two discourses.peer-reviewe

    The Dynamics of Transformation in the Development of Digital Services

    Service providers are increasingly depending and using digital infrastructure and tools provided by digital platforms to transform their services and develop digital ones that meet the needs of heterogeneous end users. However, while there is an emerging literature of developing digital services, little is known about the dynamics of transformation. Using multiple cases of firms that develop digital services, the digital service taxonomy was synthesized to understand the dynamics of transformation in developing digital services. This study identifies five main dynamics: the services experience, the service process, the service capabilities, the service environment and the service delivery.  Each of those dynamics and their associated factors is explored under the objectives of business, interaction and technology. This enables us to extend the existing literature on digital service development in particular and contributes to the research of digital innovation in general

    The association between digital ischemia and cancer is rarely reported in literature and the exact mechanism of this occurrence has not been completely understood. We report here a case of a 73 yearold woman who presented digital ischemia as first manifestation of endometrial adenocarcinoma. Reporting this rare clinical case and with a brief literature review, we recommend to consider an intensive search for primary and metastatic cancer in all patients who experience a digital ischemia, with the aim to early detect and treat the disease

    One social inequality issue in education today is the digital divide. The digital divide is an unfortunate reality in schools today, and it describes the gap between those who have access to technology and the internet and those who do not. This gap has a particular effect on students since there are implications regarding student opportunity and achievement. With technology being a permanent part of society that will continue to grow, the digital divide is an area of concern that will also likely grow. Therefore, this issue must be a priority to teachers, the community, and the world. In my research, I review articles that present research and discourse on the topic of the digital divide. Korupp and Szydlik (2005) argue that human capital, social capital, and family context play a role in what causes the division between technology access. Further, the digital divide may have a particular effect on students from low socioeconomic status families. These effects include less exposure to learning opportunities and critical thinking, lower levels of social and academic achievement, and a lack of digital literacy skills (Rowsell et al., 2017). In this presentation, I will present research and the findings of discourses on the digital divide. More specifically, the focus will be on how the digital divide evolved and why it is an issue.
