e‐Maintenance Framework for Strategic Asset Management in Tertiary Institutions
Tertiary institutions require buildings such as its senate building, classrooms, laboratories,
administrative rooms, hostels and other offices in order to function. Providing and maintaining these
buildings require a lot of planning and capital investment. The study examined the prospects of using e‐
Maintenance platform for strategic asset management in tertiary institutions. This study noted that
adequate maintenance of the building infrastructural base of tertiary institutions is crucial for
sustainability in the face of dwindling funds in the education sector. In order to automate the e‐
Maintenance process for strategic maintenance of the institution’s building maintenance, a use case
diagram, system block diagram, sequence diagram and activity diagram were designed and presented in
this study. Three (3) main users are essential in the sequence of operation of the e‐Maintenance
platform. These users represent the building occupants, the facility manager and the management
personnel; for effective oversite and performance monitoring. The methodology of this research
includes using the combination of HTML, CSS and the C‐Sharp programming language for the interface
design and server side scripting while MySQL was the database platform used for storing and retrieving
the data used for the application. In conclusion, the study developed an e‐Maintenance framework for
strategic asset management in tertiary institutions.

Digital product-service system : a study on the intersection between digitalization and servitization
The topics of digitization and servitization have been researched in several areas. In this dissertation the focus is on how the interface between the two fields of allows new value propositions. In this sense, the services offered can be impacted by the digitization both in its development and in its final result. Therefore, the first objective of this dissertation is to understand the perceived barriers in each of the two moments. The results show that the most significant barriers are found in the use of digitization for the innovation of the final offer of servitization. Thus, the second objective addressed by this study is to understand how digitization and servitization convergence, named DPSS, deliver value offers and the necessary capabilities for their delivery. The results of the literature review show that the DPSS offers are organized into three levels (basic, intermediary, and advanced), according to the business model offered, risk, service delivered and data usage. It was identified that as the level of DPSS increases, so do the capabilities required for its supply. Finally, based on the identified levels, we sought to understand the drivers and barriers for each level of DPSS. The results demonstrate that the barrier that most hinders the adoption of DPSS is the perception of value by the customer at the lower levels due to the focus of the offer on operational issues. Whereas at more advanced levels the drivers are characterized by the perceived value by the consumer, as this level is characterized by the focus on delivering a customized solution.

procedementos, mostras a estudar e contornas.
do establecido.

Particle accelerators and photon sources are constantly evolving, attaining the cutting-edge
technologies to push the limits forward and explore new domains. The control systems are a crucial
part of these installations and are required to provide flexible solutions to the new
challenging experiments, with different kinds of detectors, setups, sample environments and
procedures.
Experiment proposals are more and more ambitious at each call and go often a step beyond the
capabilities of the instrumentation. Detectors shall be faster, with higher efficiency,
more resolution, more bandwidth and able to synchronize with other detectors of all kinds; scalars,
one or two-dimensional, taking into account their singularities and homogenizing the
data acquisition.
This work examines the control and data acquisition systems for particle accelerators and X- ray /
light sources and explores new requirements and challenges regarding synchronization and data
acquisition bandwidth, optimization and cost-efficiency in the design / operation / support. It
also studies different solutions depending on the environment
