Development and implantation of a Thesaurus of Manufacturing Engineering terms
Present work shows the teaching-learning experience developed in the Department of Manufacturing Engineering of the University of Malaga. This experience is based on the need to generate a specific glossary of manufacturing engineering terms to be used as a study guide by the students. Eventually, it was decided to make a Thesaurus that would be aimed at a teaching activity. Also, it would take part in the educational innovation project PIE 13-025 of the University of Malaga, within the biennium 2013/2015. The first step consisted of the design of Thesaurus pattern, taking into account the kind of information that it was necessary include in it. Afterward, this pattern would be place on the Virtual Campus and the student would have to complete the information required. Privacy Against Statistical Inference
We propose a general statistical inference framework to capture the privacy
threat incurred by a user that releases data to a passive but curious
adversary, given utility constraints. We show that applying this general
framework to the setting where the adversary uses the self-information cost
function naturally leads to a non-asymptotic information-theoretic approach for
characterizing the best achievable privacy subject to utility constraints.
Based on these results we introduce two privacy metrics, namely average
information leakage and maximum information leakage. We prove that under both
metrics the resulting design problem of finding the optimal mapping from the
user's data to a privacy-preserving output can be cast as a modified
rate-distortion problem which, in turn, can be formulated as a convex program.

Internet enabled modelling of extended manufacturing enterprises using the process based techniques
The paper presents the preliminary results of an ongoing research project on Internet enabled process-based modelling of extended manufacturing enterprises. It is proposed to apply the Open System Architecture for CIM (CIMOSA) modelling framework alongside with object-oriented Petri Net models of enterprise processes and object-oriented techniques for extended enterprises modelling. The main features of the proposed approach are described and some components discussed. Elementary examples of object-oriented Petri Net implementation and real-time visualisation are presented
Canine pseudopregnancy: an evaluation of prevalence and current treatment protocols in the UK
Background: There is a dearth of literature on pseudopregnancy in the bitch, with only a few treatment-based
studies published since the 1990s. Pseudopregnancy may be under-recognised in bitches and may account for a
proportion of behavioural cases seen in veterinary practices including aggression. Little is known about commonly
used treatments for overtly pseudopregnant bitches and it is possible that current regimes may not be prescribed
for a sufficient duration to control any clinical signs including, physical and behavioural changes. To investigate
current trends in diagnosis and treatment of canine pseudopregnancy, a postal survey was sent to 2000 randomly
selected veterinary surgeons in UK veterinary practices. The questionnaire queried how often vets recognise cases
of pseudopregnancy in spayed and entire bitches, which physical or behavioural signs are commonly recognised
for diagnosis, and which management or treatment protocols are used.
Results: The response rate was 19.8% (397/2000). Ninety-six percent of veterinary surgeons reported seeing
pseudopregnant bitches showing behavioural changes without any physical changes within the last 12 months.
Of those behavioural changes, collecting and mothering objects was the most frequently reported behavioural
sign (96%). Ninety-seven percent of vets had seen aggression in pseudopregnant bitches. Nevertheless, only 52%
of vets routinely asked owners about behavioural changes during consultations. Forty-nine percent of respondents
reported seeing pseudopregnancy in spayed bitches. The most commonly reported physical sign was enlarged
mammary glands and/or milk production (89%). Treatment options varied (surgical, medical or none) and depended on
duration and severity of physical and behavioural signs, owners’ preference, cost, concurrent disease, drug availability
and previous history.
Conclusions: This is the largest epidemiological study of canine pseudopregnancy in the UK. The prevalence and
severity of clinical signs in dogs with pseudopregnancy are variable and possibly under-estimated. Dogs with overt
pseudopregnancy experience diverse physical and behavioural changes and information on standard treatment
protocols are lacking. Although, progress on our understanding of diagnosis and treatment of pseudopregnancy in
spayed and entire bitches has been made, further studies are warranted

This report constitutes milestone D11 — Final Report — Domestic Sector Airtightness of the Communities and Local Government/ODPM Project reference CI 61/6/16 (BD2429) Airtightness of Buildings — Towards Higher Performance (Borland and Bell, 2003). This report presents the overall conclusions and key messages obtained from the project through design assessments, construction observations, discussions with developers and pressurisation test results. It also summarises discussion on the airtight performance of current UK housing, the implementation and impact of current and future legislation, and identifies potential areas for future work
Integrated Navigation System: Not a Sum of Its Parts
Similar to the evolutionary process for living organisms, marine navigation systems are becoming increasingly complex and sophisticated. Both by design and function, shipboard and shore-based navigation systems are no longer individual equipment components operating independently. Instead, the trend is toward integration, data fusion and synergy. One example of this are new Performance Standards being considered by IMO to achieve a “harmonized” presentation of all navigation-related information on the display of an integrated navigation system (INS). Unlike a dedicated display for ECDIS or radar, the new INS displays will be a task-oriented composite presentations that enable the mariner to configure the display for an operational situation by selecting specific chart, radar, radar plotting aids (ARPA) and AIS information that is required for the task-at-hand. This paper gives a brief overview of the trend toward the development of INS. In addition to a brief summary of IMO performance standards for navigation equipment/systems, specific mention is made about a BSH (Germany) report on the “Functional Scope and Model of INS.” A discussion is provided about the challenges of providing navigation safety information that goes beyond traditional boundaries of products and services. Currently, many agencies continue to produce individual products and services on a component basis. Hydrographic offices grapple with trying to provide multiple products and services for paper charts, raster navigational charts (RNCs) and electronic navigational charts (ENCs) while a same time, Coast Guard and Maritime Safety agencies focus on improving Aids-to-Navigation (AtoN), Vessel Traffic Services (VTS), AIS networks -- and more recently, port security. In some respects, the continued concentration on separate products and services represents an organizational reluctance to change. This in turn, results in a fragmented, sub-optimal approach to the safety-of-navigation caused by the inability to provide mariners with “seamless” information at reasonable cost. In particular, hydrographic offices must be willing to recognize that chart information can no longer be considered to be separate, individual products. When it comes to the provision and use of chart-related information for use in an INS, the focus needs to shift to what information is actually desired, how it will be provided, what other information it will be used with, and whether it is truly up-todate
