    This paper discusses the extraction of behavioral models of differential drivers with pre-emphasis for the assessment of signal integrity and electromagnetic compatibility effects in multigigabit data transmission systems. A suitable model structure is derived and the procedure for its estimation from port transient waveforms is illustrated. The proposed methodology is an extension of the macromodeling based on parametric relations applied to plain differential drivers. The obtained models preserve the accuracy and efficiency strengths of behavioral parametric macromodels for conventional devices.     Temporal spying and concealing process in fibre-optic data transmission systems through polarization bypass

    International audienceRecent research has been focused on the ability to manipulate a light beam in such a way to hide, namely to cloak, an event over a finite time or localization in space. The main idea is to create a hole or a gap in the spatial or time domain so as to allow for an object or data to be kept hidden for a while and then to be restored. By enlarging the field of applications of this concept to telecommunications, researchers have recently reported the possibility to hide transmitted data in an optical fibre. Here we report the first experimental demonstration of perpetual temporal spying and blinding process of optical data in fibre-optic transmission line based on polarization bypass. We successfully characterize the performance of our system by alternatively copying and then concealing 100% of a 10-Gbit s-1 transmitted signal.

    Theoretical and experimental comparison of an ultra-high-speed laser data transmission system

    The performance of a digital optical data transmission system is specified by the probability that the system erroneously decides a signal has or has not been transmitted. Two factors which induce signal fading and thereby decrease system performance are atmospheric scintillation and transmitter pointing inaccuracy. A channel simulator was developed that is capable of producing the effects of both atmospheric scintillation and the transmitter pointing problem for a neodymium-yag optical data transmission systems. Comparison of data taken from the modulated intensity of a beam having been transmitted through the channel simulator with experimental data from GEOS-B argon laser transmission through the atmosphere to a low earth-orbiting satellite indicates that the modulated signal intensity is log-normal to the degree of measured atmospheric scintillation
