Parameters of the crystalline undulator and its radiation for particular experimental conditions
We report the results of theoretical and numerical analysis of the
crystalline undulators planned to be used in the experiments which are the part
of the ongoing PECU project [1]. The goal of such an analysis was to define the
parameters (different from those pre-set by the experimental setup) of the
undulators which ensure the highest yield of photons of specified energies. The
calculations were performed for 0.6 and 10 GeV positrons channeling through
periodically bent Si and SiGe crystals.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures, submitted to SPI
EN, article personau onorific?
The microtoponymy of the zone of L’Isle-Jourdain (30 mn of Toulouse in gascon zone) is strongly marked by de the presence of EN + X which goes bauck up in the name of the owner of the farm preceded by the honorary particle EN. Es personal article, we expect that is only used in front of names of people (En Martin, En Colau, etc.). The use of EN in front of a name of job as En Gireta suggest two hypotheses: Or in En Gireta, Gireta is a name of someone derived of a name of job and can be still article at the time of the formation of the toponym. Or in En Gireta, Gireta is a name of job and it supposes that EN is reanalyzed as preposition in the meaning of “entà” in the sense of Toulouse (else’s house). Keywords : gascon of Toulouse; Occitan; honorary article; toponymy; grammaticalizacion
Simulation of Deflection and Photon Emission of Ultra-Relativistic Electrons and Positrons in a Quasi-Mosaic Bent Silicon Crystal
A comprehensive numerical investigation has been conducted on the angular
distribution and spectrum of radiation emitted by 855 MeV electron and positron
beams while traversing a 'quasi-mosaic' bent silicon (111) crystal. This
interaction of charged particles with a bent crystal gives rise to various
phenomena such as channeling, dechanneling, volume reflection, and volume
capture. The crystal's geometry, emittance of the collimated particle beams, as
well as their alignment with respect to the crystal, have been taken into
account as they are essential for an accurate quantitative description of the
processes. The simulations have been performed using a specialized relativistic
molecular dynamics module implemented in the MBN Explorer package. The angular
distribution of the particles after traversing the crystal has been calculated
for beams of different emittances as well as for different anticlastic
curvatures of the bent crystals. For the electron beam, the angular
distributions of the deflected particles and the spectrum of radiation obtained
in the simulations are compared with the experimental data collected at the
Mainz Microtron facility. For the positron beam such calculations have been
performed for the first time. We predict significant differences in the angular
distributions and the radiation spectra for positrons versus electrons.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figures. Submitted to: J. Phys. B: At. Mol. Opt. Phy
The Precipitation Imaging Package : Assessment of Microphysical and Bulk Characteristics of Snow
Remote-sensing observations are needed to estimate the regional and global impacts of snow. However, to retrieve accurate estimates of snow mass and rate, these observations require augmentation through additional information and assumptions about hydrometeor properties. The Precipitation Imaging Package (PIP) provides information about precipitation characteristics and can be utilized to improve estimates of snowfall rate and accumulation. Here, the goal is to demonstrate the quality and utility of two higher-order PIP-derived products: liquid water equivalent snow rate and an approximation of volume-weighted density called equivalent density. Accuracy of the PIP snow rate and equivalent density is obtained through intercomparison with established retrieval methods and through evaluation with colocated ground-based observations. The results confirm the ability of the PIP-derived products to quantify properties of snow rate and equivalent density, and demonstrate that the PIP produces physically realistic snow characteristics. When compared to the National Weather Service (NWS) snow field measurements of six-hourly accumulation, the PIP-derived accumulations were biased only +2.48% higher. Additionally, this work illustrates fundamentally different microphysical and bulk features of low and high snow-to-liquid ratio events, through assessment of observed particle size distributions, retrieved mass coefficients, and bulk properties. Importantly, this research establishes the role that PIP observations and higher-order products can serve for constraining microphysical assumptions in ground-based and spaceborne remotely sensed snowfall retrievals.Peer reviewe
