NASTRAN maintenance and enhancement experiences
The current capability is described which includes isoparametric elements, optimization of grid point sequencing, and eigenvalue routine. Overlay and coding errors were corrected for cyclic symmetry, transient response, and differential stiffness rigid formats. Error corrections and program enhancements are discussed along with developments scheduled for the current year and a brief description of analyses being performed using the program

Information structure and the referential status of linguistic expression : workshop as part of the 23th annual meetings of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft in Leipzig, Leipzig, February 28 - March 2, 2001
This volume comprises papers that were given at the workshop Information Structure and the Referential Status of Linguistic Expressions, which we organized during the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Sprachwissenschaft (DGfS) Conference in Leipzig in February 2001. At this workshop we discussed the connection between information structure and the referential interpretation of linguistic expressions, a topic mostly neglected in current linguistics research. One common aim of the papers is to find out to what extent the focus-background as well as the topic-comment structuring determine the referential interpretation of simple arguments like definite and indefinite NPs on the one hand and sentences on the other
The Minimal Modal Interpretation of Quantum Theory
We introduce a realist, unextravagant interpretation of quantum theory that
builds on the existing physical structure of the theory and allows experiments
to have definite outcomes, but leaves the theory's basic dynamical content
essentially intact. Much as classical systems have specific states that evolve
along definite trajectories through configuration spaces, the traditional
formulation of quantum theory asserts that closed quantum systems have specific
states that evolve unitarily along definite trajectories through Hilbert
spaces, and our interpretation extends this intuitive picture of states and
Hilbert-space trajectories to the case of open quantum systems as well. We
provide independent justification for the partial-trace operation for density
matrices, reformulate wave-function collapse in terms of an underlying
interpolating dynamics, derive the Born rule from deeper principles, resolve
several open questions regarding ontological stability and dynamics, address a
number of familiar no-go theorems, and argue that our interpretation is
ultimately compatible with Lorentz invariance. Along the way, we also
investigate a number of unexplored features of quantum theory, including an
interesting geometrical structure---which we call subsystem space---that we
believe merits further study. We include an appendix that briefly reviews the
traditional Copenhagen interpretation and the measurement problem of quantum
theory, as well as the instrumentalist approach and a collection of

Bisimilarity is not Borel
We prove that the relation of bisimilarity between countable labelled
transition systems is -complete (hence not Borel), by reducing the
set of non-wellorders over the natural numbers continuously to it.
This has an impact on the theory of probabilistic and nondeterministic
processes over uncountable spaces, since logical characterizations of
bisimilarity (as, for instance, those based on the unique structure theorem for
analytic spaces) require a countable logic whose formulas have measurable
semantics. Our reduction shows that such a logic does not exist in the case of

A Meta-Logic of Inference Rules: Syntax
This work was intended to be an attempt to introduce the meta-language for
working with multiple-conclusion inference rules that admit asserted
propositions along with the rejected propositions. The presence of rejected
propositions, and especially the presence of the rule of reverse substitution,

considered in Dependence Logic and in its extensions, and we argue that Team
