Sharp and fuzzy observables on effect algebras
Observables on effect algebras and their fuzzy versions obtained by means of
confidence measures (Markov kernels) are studied. It is shown that, on effect
algebras with the (E)-property, given an observable and a confidence measure,
there exists a fuzzy version of the observable. Ordering of observables
according to their fuzzy properties is introduced, and some minimality
conditions with respect to this ordering are found. Applications of some
results of classical theory of experiments are considered.Comment: 23 page
Toward a probability theory for product logic: states, integral representation and reasoning
The aim of this paper is to extend probability theory from the classical to
the product t-norm fuzzy logic setting. More precisely, we axiomatize a
generalized notion of finitely additive probability for product logic formulas,
called state, and show that every state is the Lebesgue integral with respect
to a unique regular Borel probability measure. Furthermore, the relation
between states and measures is shown to be one-one. In addition, we study
geometrical properties of the convex set of states and show that extremal
states, i.e., the extremal points of the state space, are the same as the
truth-value assignments of the logic. Finally, we axiomatize a two-tiered modal
logic for probabilistic reasoning on product logic events and prove soundness
and completeness with respect to probabilistic spaces, where the algebra is a
free product algebra and the measure is a state in the above sense.Comment: 27 pages, 1 figur
The structure of classical extensions of quantum probability theory
On the basis of a suggestive definition of a classical extension of quantum mechanics in terms of statistical models, we prove that every such classical extension is essentially given by the so-called Misra–Bugajski reduction map. We consider how this map enables one to understand quantum mechanics as a reduced classical statistical theory on the projective Hilbert space as phase space and discuss features of the induced hidden-variable model. Moreover, some relevant technical results on the topology and Borel structure of the projective Hilbert space are reviewed
Preassociative aggregation functions
The classical property of associativity is very often considered in
aggregation function theory and fuzzy logic. In this paper we provide
axiomatizations of various classes of preassociative functions, where
preassociativity is a generalization of associativity recently introduced by
the authors. These axiomatizations are based on existing characterizations of
some noteworthy classes of associative operations, such as the class of
Acz\'elian semigroups and the class of t-norms.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:1309.730
