Implementation of Privacy Policy Specification System for User Uploaded Images over Popular Content Sharing Sites

The regular use of social networking websites and application encompasses the collection and retention of personal and very often sensitive information about users. This information needs to remain private and each social network owns a privacy policy that describes in-depth how user’s information is managed and published. As there is increasing use of images for sharing through social sites, maintaining privacy has become a major problem. In light of these incidents, the need of tools to aid users control access to their shared content is necessary. This problem can be proposed by using an Privacy Policy Specification system to help users compose privacy settings for their shared images. Toward addressing this need, we propose Privacy Policy Specification system to help users to specify privacy settings for their images. Exploring the affordances of social networking sites: an analysis of three networks

Social network sites (SNS) are becoming increasingly important, both for individuals and organizations. These systems have affected social and cultural activities, work practices, and in particular the ways in which we discover, share and consume information goods. The functionality of SNS is emergent, shaped by user appropriation choices. In this paper, affordances are proposed as a way to understand the potential uses and future evolution of SNS. Affordances describe the characteristics of an interactive system which suggests how the system should be used. The objective of this study is to explore the affordances of SNS. The study comprises an inventory of the affordances of three popular SNS. The study reveals a diverse collection of software features which afford user behaviour in six areas of activity: social connectivity, social interactivity, profile management, content discovery, content sharing and content aggregation. The findings of the study provide a rich foundation for future research on user appropriation of SNS, the future evolution of SNS, and the design of SNS systems

Extended Social Tags: Identity Tags Meet Social Networks

International audienceThis paper proposes a new approach that uses social networks and common sense deduction rules to adapt the description tags of the photos for the current viewer. We exploit social graphs to enrich the tags associated to the concerned persons in the photo by following the different links between people (i.e. viewer and captured people in the photos). The main contributions of our work are: (i) addition of a more meaningful tagging layer for photos, making tags dynamic and auto-adaptable thanks to the automatic identification of the social context of the visualization. (ii) Due to this dynamics, the search in the social graphs is optimized using a data mining technique. (iii) we propose a new visualization metaphor for the tagging layer to manage users' feedback. We also describe a system architecture and an experimental study that shows significant improvements of the tagging process and execution times on a dataset containing triples in a FOAF graph

Image sharing privacy policy on social networks using A3P

User Image sharing social site maintaining privacy has become a major problem, as demonstrated by a recent wave of publicized incidents where users inadvertently shared personal information. In light of these incidents, the need of tools to help users control access to their shared content is apparent. Toward addressing this need an Adaptive Privacy Policy Prediction (A3P) system to help users compose privacy settings for their images. The solution relies on an image classification framework for image categories which may be associated with similar policies and on a policy prediction algorithm to automatically generate a policy for each newly uploaded image, also according to user’s social features. Image Sharing takes place both among previously established groups of known people or social circles and also increasingly with people outside the users social circles, for purposes of social discovery-to help them identify new peers and learn about peers interests and social surroundings, Sharing images within online content sharing sites, therefore, may quickly lead to unwanted disclosure. The aggregated information can result in unexpected exposure of one’s social environment and lead to abuse of one’s personal information
