    Design an intelligent controller for full vehicle nonlinear active suspension systems

    The main objective of designed the controller for a vehicle suspension system is to reduce the discomfort sensed by passengers which arises from road roughness and to increase the ride handling associated with the pitching and rolling movements. This necessitates a very fast and accurate controller to meet as much control objectives, as possible. Therefore, this paper deals with an artificial intelligence Neuro-Fuzzy (NF) technique to design a robust controller to meet the control objectives. The advantage of this controller is that it can handle the nonlinearities faster than other conventional controllers. The approach of the proposed controller is to minimize the vibrations on each corner of vehicle by supplying control forces to suspension system when travelling on rough road. The other purpose for using the NF controller for vehicle model is to reduce the body inclinations that are made during intensive manoeuvres including braking and cornering. A full vehicle nonlinear active suspension system is introduced and tested. The robustness of the proposed controller is being assessed by comparing with an optimal Fractional Order (FOPID) controller. The results show that the intelligent NF controller has improved the dynamic response measured by decreasing the cost function

    Individual And Ensemble Pattern Classification Models Using Enhanced Fuzzy Min-Max Neural Networks

    Pattern classification is one of the major components for the design and development of a computerized pattern recognition system. Focused on computational intelligence models, this thesis describes in-depth investigations on two possible directions to design robust and flexible pattern classification models with high performance. Firstly is by enhancing the learning algorithm of a neural-fuzzy network; and secondly by devising an ensemble model to combine the predictions from multiple neural-fuzzy networks using an agent-based framework. Owing to a number of salient features which include the ability of learning incrementally and establishing nonlinear decision boundary with hyperboxes, the Fuzzy Min-Max (FMM) network is selected as the backbone for designing useful and usable pattern classification models in this research. Two enhanced FMM variants, i.e. EFMM and EFMM2, are proposed to address a number of limitations in the original FMM learning algorithm. In EFMM, three heuristic rules are introduced to improve the hyperbox expansion, overlap test, and contraction processes. The network complexity and noise tolerance issues are undertaken in EFMM2. In addition, an agent-based framework is capitalized as a robust ensemble model to house multiple EFMM-based networks. A useful trust measurement method known as Certified Belief in Strength (CBS) is developed and incorporated into the ensemble model for exploiting the predictive performances of different EFMM-based networks

Procedural actions concern skilled behavior and have parallels in guidance, navigation, and adaptation. Reflexive actions are spontaneous, inner-loop responses for control and estimation. Intelligent flight control systems learn knowledge of the aircraft and its mission and adapt to changes in the flight environment. Cognitive models form an efficient basis for integrating 'outer-loop/inner-loop' control functions and for developing robust parallel-processing algorithms

    In this paper, an inventory control problem is discussed using imprecise parameters. The fusion of geometric programming and fuzzy logic is used as imprecise parameters to solve inventory control problems. In inventory, holding costs, set-up costs, etc. may be flexible due to vague information. Fuzzy set theory is used to convert the inventory model crisp to fuzzy for producing flexible output. Compensatory operator is used to aggregate the fuzzy membership functions corresponding to fuzzy sets for fuzzy objectives and constraints.     Multiobjective programming for type-2 hierarchical fuzzy inference trees

    This paper proposes a design of hierarchical fuzzy inference tree (HFIT). An HFIT produces an optimum tree-like structure. Specifically, a natural hierarchical structure that accommodates simplicity by combining several low-dimensional fuzzy inference systems (FISs). Such a natural hierarchical structure provides a high degree of approximation accuracy. The construction of HFIT takes place in two phases. Firstly, a nondominated sorting based multiobjective genetic programming (MOGP) is applied to obtain a simple tree structure (low model’s complexity) with a high accuracy. Secondly, the differential evolution algorithm is applied to optimize the obtained tree’s parameters. In the obtained tree, each node has a different input’s combination, where the evolutionary process governs the input’s combination. Hence, HFIT nodes are heterogeneous in nature, which leads to a high diversity among the rules generated by the HFIT. Additionally, the HFIT provides an automatic feature selection because it uses MOGP for the tree’s structural optimization that accept inputs only relevant to the knowledge contained in data. The HFIT was studied in the context of both type-1 and type-2 FISs, and its performance was evaluated through six application problems. Moreover, the proposed multiobjective HFIT was compared both theoretically and empirically with recently proposed FISs methods from the literature, such as McIT2FIS, TSCIT2FNN, SIT2FNN, RIT2FNS-WB, eT2FIS, MRIT2NFS, IT2FNN-SVR, etc. From the obtained results, it was found that the HFIT provided less complex and highly accurate models compared to the models produced by most of the other methods.
